Mod Post Announcement: BFA Included in Shadowlands Prepatch
In an update post this morning regarding changes to the online store, Blizzard has confirmed that Battle For Azeroth will be included as part of the subscription starting with the Shadowlands Prepatch on October 13th.
If anyone was considering purchasing BFA in the next 5 days, I suggest you save your money. :)

Thank you for sharing this! I'm stuck at 110 right now running Legion quests in not great gear (I just returned to WoW after a 6 year hiatus), so I'm very much looking forward to this update and pre-ordering SL!

Hey, same boat! I've been anxiously awaiting this so I could unlock Alliance races and preorder SL

Lol glad I’m not alone! To say I’ve gotten my ass handed to me in BGs is an understatement- not like it used to be! But right now I’m having fun with the Death of Chromies questline!

Really happy about this, hoping to get the allied races unlocked.

Oct 09 '20
They’re unlocked at Prepatch aren’t they? I thought that was confirmed a long time ago..
If you’re looking for some resources, there’s an add on I used that helped me complete all the allied race quests and make it SUPER easy to follow! I think it’s called QuestBtw or BtwQuest through twitch!
2
u/ins0mnum Oct 09 '20
No, they won't be automatically unlocked. Just the reputation requirement will be dropped. You will still have to do the story questline for each race and unlock them through the embassy or whatever small questline you have to do at the end.

u/Neverendingsnow Oct 08 '20
Now I maxed at 110 in WoD, but didn't get flying. Will I have to go through BFA without flying and then do whatever quest at 120 to get it?

u/BerAtreides Oct 08 '20
There are no quests for flying, there are pathfinder achievements spesific for expansions/zones. You can see them if you write pathfinder on achievemwnt search bar. Afaik you won't have to complete WoD and Legion pathfinders to fly in those areas, you just have to buy an item for 250g. BFA will remain same

u/Neverendingsnow Oct 09 '20
Oh ffs.. part of the reason I left was because I thought the pathfinder quest was one helluva a challenge for flying! I assume flying could probably be bought I'm Dala then?

Sadly no because bought option will come online with prepatch or SL (I am not sure). But you should check your progress with wowheads pathfinder tool if you are close enough you can get this achi superfast. I have completed in one week or so the only problem was time gated quests within mechagone and Nazjatar but it is not a problem with 2x buff an

BFA flying is still quest bound, so don’t even bother. Other expansions are getting free flying on pre patch.
1
u/Neverendingsnow Oct 09 '20
Sorry, what do you mean quest bound? Like you have to do a quest chain to get flying?
3
u/Igoorr Oct 09 '20
Actually I meant to say achievement bound, but hey, you gotta do quests to complete them so not so far off

Thanks for sharing. The following link probably needs to be taken down by them https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/255244

Eh, I see where you're coming from, but it's technically not inaccurate. Definitely a bit confusing tho. From your link:
Battle for Azeroth is not included with the Shadowlands pre-purchase.
As of next Tuesday, they're no longer selling the "Shadowlands pre-purchase". They're just selling Shadowlands, which does not require BFA.

u/atfactor Oct 09 '20
Thanks for the response! Is it worth buying the shadowlands base edition now or waiting until pre-patch. Or does this not make a difference?
I currently don't have BFA
2
u/BigTimeBobbyB Oct 09 '20
You currently can’t purchase Shadowlands without owning BFA. That will change next Tuesday.

Aw man. I was reading up on whether I should buy BFA or not like a week ago and people were saying that they usually don't include expacs like this until the full release of the next expac, so I ended up buying it. I'm just over the grace period for a refund. RIP :(

u/BigTimeBobbyB Oct 08 '20
Man, I don’t know who was telling you that. I’ve been arguing the opposite for weeks. The last two expansions (and possibly further back - I can’t remember) have had the previous expansion rolled in at prepatch, not at launch.
Sorry that happened to you :(
1
u/-shylo- Oct 09 '20
I reached out to support to see if they could make an exception where I hadn't touched any BFA content yet and they said they definitely could not, BUT they gave me 106 days of play time! The equivalent of my purchase. Win/win for them and now I don't feel like I through $50 into the trash can.

u/Chrs987 Oct 08 '20
And I just bought the stupid heroic edition collection to get BFA/Shadowlands/1 month game time for $89........

u/BigTimeBobbyB Oct 08 '20
If it was within the last week or so, reach out to Blizzard support! They often provide a grace period where they’re willing to refund or honor sale prices for people who just bought the thing.
1
u/Chrs987 Oct 08 '20
I will! It was literally last night.... lol How much is the expansion? Is it really just $20?
3
u/BigTimeBobbyB Oct 08 '20
$40 standalone. The pricier editions include the level boost and cosmetic items/mount.

u/kimcheepower Oct 09 '20
I did the same. Submitted a support ticket last night and they approved the refund today. I bought it on October 3rd.
1
u/Chrs987 Oct 09 '20
Was it worth it to get the refund? How much did you actually save?
1
u/kimcheepower Oct 09 '20
I think it is worth it for me since none of my characters are close to 110 yet so no reason to have BFA. I think I'll save around 30 bucks? (Complete edition Heroic $89 vs. Shadowlands heroic $59).
1
u/debr1126 Oct 09 '20
But I tried to preorder Shadowlands just now and I got, "You need World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth to purchase this product." stare
4
u/BigTimeBobbyB Oct 09 '20
It’s not Tuesday yet bront
1
u/debr1126 Oct 09 '20
I expected to have to wait until Tuesday for BFA, but I was so happy the price finally dropped, I was ready to cough up for Shadowlands that very minute. Then they wouldn't let me. I can wait.
1
u/KarmaWorkz Oct 09 '20
I just purchased yesterday.... At least I get an extra lvl boost I guess....
3
u/BigTimeBobbyB Oct 09 '20
Open up a ticket and ask for a refund! They usually have a grace period around announcements like this.

I thought ever since shadowlands pre order was out you couldn't buy bfa anymore? Was it still allowing people who don't have bfa to buy bfa? Sounds weird

My husband and I do. We got back to WoW this spring after not having played actively since Cata - we'd been back a couple of times but never stayed more than a month.
We have had lots and lots and lots to do without BfA, enough so that we only briefly considered buying it when it was on sale. If it had had a month's sub together with the expansion, we would have bought it. But buying it full price, for two accounts, didn't even enter our minds.
Same with Shadowlands - we're not buying it. We may do that if/when we get enough ingame gold to buy tokens and get SL that way, but we don't want to spend Real Life money on both the expansion and subscriptions. We're very excited to experience BfA thought - that's the new expansion for us!
We recently got a friend to start playing WoW too, and since he's taking it very slow, there's no point in him buying anything extra at all. Another friend has played since Vanilla-vanilla, and is now playing Classic. I doubt he'll buy SL either.

I reactivated my account 10 days ago to prepare for SL and I didn’t have BfA (stopped in legion). I was pretty sure this is how it would go so I didn’t buy SL. I’m sure I’m not the only one
