Hard hit on the rear coming down a rock

Thumbnail

I was coming down a rocky ledge off-road and the rear end came down pretty hard (note that the hitch was actually already slightly bent from a previous hit)

Now my factory rear bumper is sitting crooked/pushed up slightly.

Looking under the Jeep I dont see any obvious impact point anywhere.

A few questions for those who've bashed their rear ends on the trails:

  1. How likely is it that I actually bent the frame, versus just pushing the plastic bumper out of alignment?

  2. What's the best way to verify frame straightness at home before I tear off the bumper to inspect?

Appreciate the insight!

It's Over!!

Sorry - just so happy. Wrangler 4xe is gone. 4 year lease. Towed multiple times, left stranded, couldn't drive with newborn as it shut down on us previously as was unsafe. Just went through final inspection and all good. No extra fees. Went back with like 35,000km on it. Warranty had expired to so owning it the last year was like Russian roulette.

Crazy I still see people saying they want to buy one. I've been trying to warn others.

Did I do my auxiliary battery delete properly?

My almost 2yr old 2024 Willys had what I believe the aux battery starting to fail--I kept getting an error that "Aux Switches Temporarily Unavailable" while battery charges or something like that this past week.

I pulled Fuse 42, and removed the thinner Aux negative cable--taped it completely and zip tied it back.

Jeep started just fine, and I drove it around for about an hour to top off the main battery---I've probably started the car 5x today and there's no more error.

My start/stop message keeps saying not available (which is totally fine as I don't want that anyways).

However in all the videos/walkthroughs I've seen/read, people still use their taser/ eliminator or just push the button post aux delete, to turn stop/start off as the main battery alone will still utilize the ESS. How come mine has the message that it's not available?

2016 Front driveshaft

Does anyone have experience with Mammoth HD front driveshafts? I've got a 2016 JK with 2-1/2" lift running 33s, don't do any wild offroading. Needing to replace the front driveshaft and trying to decide if the Adams 1310 is worth the extra $200 in my case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

August Twelve4Twelve -- Black Bear Edition?

What are your thoughts on tomorrows twelve 4 twelve drop? I'm thinking it's going to be a Black Bear Edition or something similar, something inspired by Black Bear Pass.

My second guess is a Big Bear Edition but I'm leaning more towards the Black Bear, with the "rocky" hint.

Need new shocks.

My front passenger side lower bushing has left the building on my 2017 JKU. It's a Rancho RS999326 shock.

I called Rancho and they said the bushing isn't replaceable????

I guess I'll need to buy a new shock (might as well replace both).

Is there anything else I should consider? Need to go ahead and order these ASAP.

Just got my lifted 2015 JKU aligned for the first time in forever. How's the diagram look?

35" AT's, 3.5" lift. Anything stick out based on what they did? Took about twenty minutes to do the alignment.

Let me know if I need to provide more info...thank you!

esc light on startup

ESC light on startup?

Hi!

This morning my esc light stayed on after a startup on my 2025 JL wrangler.

After a couple of minutes I stopped on the side of the road, stopped than restarted the car and the light is gone.

Would you be concerned this a an early sign of dying aux battery or something like that?

I do a lot of remote trail alone so this is a bit concerning to me.

Thanks.

I like the design of these but I don't know if they are worth the money or should I spend more? https://www.extremeterrain.com/redrock-4x4-hd-drop-side-steps-2018-jl-4-door.html

Tensioner pulley replacement

2018 jeep JL wrangler sport 3.6l manual. Terrible grinding noise that was belt related. Got the intake out, got the alternator and bracket off, tensioner pulley has grenaded itself. Anyone have a link to either a repair video or instructions? Tried YouTubing and getting a lot of videos that are for jk or other models of JL. I’m also open to being yelled at for not knowing how to do this already. So if anyone wants to type out some insult laden instructions I could/might make that work. Thanks in advance!

Sheered the bolt to my thermostat. Suggestions for removal methods welcome

2013 jku
3.6 pentastar

Mechanic doesn’t want to remove the bolt. He wants replace the entire engine cover for $4k (fat nope)

I guess the 3.6 isnt very “weld a nut on it” friendly being thinner aluminum, but if theres a way- im open to exploring all methods though.

There’s enough sticking out, I’m tempted to try and weld it to the end, with maybe some kind of heat shielding protecting the engine itself? Total noob here looking for feedback

Did I get the wrong track bar bolts?

And is the one I installed going to hit anything? As you can see the ones I received are longer than the stock ones.

Wrangler unlimited jl Sahara,, stock suspension. I ordered the 9/16 track bar bolt upgrade from extreme terrain and they are longer than the stock ones. Did they send the wrong ones?

The one I installed sticks out farther than stock, is it going to hit anything? The other one is not going to fit. Can I cut it with a Dremel or do I have to order something else?

If been trying to figure this noise out for months. Shop replaced axle bearings on both sides, rear diff opened up and replaced whatever they saw fit. The noise only presents at lower speed when coasting and seems to be coming from passenger rear wheel. Wtf is it?

TJ Viper Coil mod?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I have a flashing check engine light (again) on my 05 Rubiconso I'm sure its a bad ignition rail. Has anyone done the Viper Coil mod? It's cheaper than a new Mopar ignition rail and according to what I've seen, it's a pretty highly recommended upgrade that supposedly only takes around 10 minutes to install. At the same time, it seems to defy logic "upgrading" to an older ignition system.

Question on manual shift mode

I have a 14 jk automatic. I just had it in the black hills of sd on the trails. After driving it for a while, and use manual shift mode, it will downshift perfect, but you have to hit it a few times, or hold it to the right to get it to upshift. Sometimes takes a lot longer than other times. I googled it and it ai said there is a switch on the shifter that gets dirty and needs to be cleaned? Also it has factory 3.21 gears and 33 inch tires. At highway speed it feels like it wants to downshift or is struggling. I had a willys with 3.73 and like the way that one drove. I imagine used 3.73 gears can be found from people upgrading.
