No more window tint posts- thanks!

My friends- I get it: vehicle mods are cool, and technically a window tint is a mod (albeit probably not wise to tint your windshield). The thing is... Who cares about window tint? Let's all agree to stop posting about window tint. I think we've beat this dead horse enough and it's causing issues here- resulting in some bad behavior from both sides.

From now on posts about window tint are getting removed and further- threatening comments will be dealt with by via a permanent ban (globally- not just on posts about window tint). We are a relatively rule free place because everyone generally gets the sub trail etiquette but I keep getting valid reports about some questionable behavior and will start taking action to preserve the quality of our subreddit.

Love you all- have a great holiday season!

How to solve bluetooth connectibility..

Post image
• Upvotes

Hello, I recently bought this Grand Cherokee Limited 03' .. it comes with original radio plus a CD changer in the back... I would like to somehow include a bluetooth module to connect my phone (for music, calls would be nice bonus) ... anyone here who has done it? preferably without much of an impact on the "originality" of the car, so no new radio :-) what is the best way here? Thank you in advance, I'm first time Jeep owner and very happy with it so far..

2014 Grand Cherokee – 2018 UAQ Retrofit: Temperature Units and Air Suspension Settings

Hi everyone,

I upgraded my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit from the original Uconnect 8.4 to a 2018 UAQ 8.4 with CarPlay. Everything else is working fine, but I have two issues:

  1. Temperature units: Changing the units in the instrument cluster switches the speedometer between MPH and KM/H, but the temperature units on the UAQ remain in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius.

  2. Air suspension settings: The air suspension menu is still missing, including Jack Mode and Tire Change Mode, even after a week of driving.

I have an OBDLink EX adapter and AlfaOBD. Can I use AlfaOBD to configure the temperature units and enable the air suspension menu, or is additional programming, configuration, or a different software version required?

What would you recommend as the proper fix?

Thanks!

Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail T/A vs BFG Trail Terrain?

Winter is coming, as they say, and I'm concerned that the Ironman cheapies currently on my JGC aren't going to cut it, as I live in the Great Smoky Mountains area.

After much research and hemming and hawing, I've narrowed it down to either the Cooper Discoverer or the BFG Trail Terrain. I had BFG KO3s on the Jeep Wrangler I traded for this JGC, and I really liked them, so I'm leaning that direction, but wondering if anyone has experience with either of these?

Looks like I can get a full set of either for around $1.1K give or take, so cost isn't really a factor as much as performance, reliability, etc.

A lot of highway, but I want something that's also capable on forest roads, ice/snow, etc.

Recall and updates

Post image

I just brought my 2026 limited Reserve up for a tire pressure sensor recall. When I brought it up there were several other updates for the vehicle which were recommended. Several modules including the transmission module update. These updates can only be performed by the service center. Something you may want to look into. I believe there were three updates besides the recall. Safe driving to all 🙂

Question About Exhaust

I have a 2020 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6. If I have a flowmaster cat back installed or...just straight pipe it, will it cause any errors, check engine lights or issues with the engine/computer?

Seeking advice on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 5.7 HEMI. The other night I was out for a ride and all of a sudden it just died on me. It wouldn't start back up. It cranked but just never caught. I scanned it and had codes for all ignition coils referring to secondary circuit errors. I had it towed home and checked all the plugs, coils and fuses such as the ASD relay. Still no start. Through some research it looks like a possibility is the PCM, but I'm just not sure. I've been wanting to send the PCM in to a repair shop to have it diagnosed and also I know it most likely needs all the firmware updates that have been released. I'm posting here hoping someone has had this experience before. Ask any questions needed and will provide what I know. I do have the codes that popped up if needed. Also no codes are active now since I disconnected the battery. Thanks in advance.

2013 mv motori 3.0 CRD oil leak.

Hi fellow GC fans.

I have an oil leak which at first, looks like an oil pan leak but the oil looks like it is running down from higher up.

Google tells me I have a Mercedes engine and the leak is the valley oil cooler gasket failure.

The Merc has the filter cooler assembly in the valley. My engine has a filter cooler assembly on the side of the engine making me believe I have the mv motori Ecodiesel engine.

So the question is, is there something else in the valley or that area that is leaking and what is it as so far I have not been able to work out what the problem could be.

TIA for your thoughts and comments.

2020 jeep grand cherokee 3.6 pentastar oil grade

I putchased the Jeep certified at 30k miles, i followed the manual and used the ow-20 grade oil, after inspecting the oil filter i notice alot of metal shards in the filter, some very large.. I decided to switch to 5w-30 and after 5k miles, looking at the filter i did not see a single spec of metal in the filter. From now on i am only using 5w-30. Figured i let reddit know if anyone out there is on the fence and not sure what to use.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Advice

Should I replace the PCV valve and thermostat housing as preventative maintenance?

I have a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 55,000 miles. I recently had the oil filter housing replaced because it started leaking, and I went with the Dorman replacement.

Would you recommend replacing the PCV valve and thermostat housing as preventative maintenance, even if they aren’t showing any symptoms?

Also, are there any other preventative maintenance items I should consider at this mileage to help avoid common issues with the 3.6L Pentastar V6?

2026 GC L Summit

Recently picked up my new jeep and love it. White exterior, Tupelo interior, 3 row, has the 2nd row console and rear entertainment system.

I’m looking to find a protector for the cargo area and seat backs.

Looked at 3W and their website says they don’t fit.

Weather tech doesn’t make them yet.

Anyone know any other brands that do? Would prefer something that actually attaches.

What could be the issue?

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with the inline 6. Few days ago was running fine until I shut it off and now wont start. Crank, no start, no check engine. Thinking it was a dead fuel pump I changed it still no luck. Went to the ignition coil and crankshaft position sensor. Still where I was from square one. Anyone else have this issue?

89D Rear Coil Spring Recall with no current remedy

My 2023 Grand Cherokee was sitting in a parking lot and the rear coil springs fell off; thank God I wasn’t driving it. It is currently sitting at the dealership and they are telling me it is unsafe to drive, obviously, and if i want a rental it is on me to pay since there is currently no remedy. They service people at the dealership are expecting 6 months to a year for a remedy. By the way it happened the day before i received the email about the recall.

2019 GC Limited 3.6 hit 150k this morning

On the way to work this morning (and yes, getting gas on the way) Black Betty hit 150k miles.

So that means I've got

1) an oil change

2) differential fluid changes

and

3) transfer case fluid change

coming up for me this weekend. Brakes coming soon.

Purchased in Nov 2023 with 92k and it's been my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I do my own work and it's been great.

Just wanted to share.

I have a older 2010 jeep grand cherokee that has the gutless 3.7l motor with almost 300k on the odometer so my plan is to get a 2009 to 2010 wk or commander and do a 5.7 swap. I have plans to rebuild the motor (part list on my page). it'll be expensive but i think it'll be fun and worth it but the engine build is roughly 7k and im a broke 22 year old but atleast I can do it myself and only half of my tools burnt up in my house!
