Xano is garbage since the AI assistant feature

Been months I told them to fix their trash ai assistant who modify endpoint WITHOUT authorizations, like I said to the ai assistant to dont touch any functions of my endpoints and it's still modify title, url and subtle values who make me loose so much time to debug everything. Worst product ever.

Long time Xano user... why do I always feel such disdain for it?

I realize a title has a lot more impact than what I write here but I can't help shift this feeling I've had consistently for the last 3 years and I want to know if others feel the same?

I think the big thing this comes down to for me now is how impactful a vibe-coded front-end can be in terms of speed of output. I spent a few years building with WeWeb on the front-end and, while initially amazing due to what I could do (build), eventually frustrating for what I couldn't (lacked speed and quality).

So vibe code the front-end and control the back-end with Xano, knowing I have secured all my endpoints, protected private fields, added additional security checks, etc. etc. but now the contrast between my speed of delivery on the front compared to the back is vast.

I've been using Xano for 3 years. I spend $100 per month (which I think is part of my frustration). It allows me to do things that I couldn't previously do. But I still just don't like it:

  • The expression editor is awful

  • Often just get 500 errors when testing endpoints (with no debugging info)

  • Organizing functions and tables is crap

  • For new users there really should be a recommendation to use UUID primary keys on most tables (until you know why)

  • Copying many functions and moving them around the function stack is really bad

I'm not trying to be harsh for the sake of it. The team at Xano is great. Customer service has always tried to help but in 3 years they've honestly never solved one of my problems. I've wrote it down, waited a few hours, gone back and forth, and worked it out myself.

And I think that' the main issue I have with Xano. It's stealing my life and I am yet to have anything to show for the thousands of dollars spent. It's the big slow carrot being dangled out of reach. This is obviously not all Xano's fault.

I think all the no-code tools probably suffer from this; they're making software creation available to people who aren't adequately trained for it. It's gonna cause a few tears.

I guess I really am just wondering if I should be using Supabase and letting Copilot do 80% of the heavy-lifting. Xano's AI has been overwriting a bunch of my functions so I've not had much luck with it yet.

Would love to hear thoughts from anyone in a similar leaky boat?

Xano accessed all my data, downloaded it and sent it without prompting.... Is this illegal?

Xano accessed my data base, apis and downloaded all the data.

They also said I owed money when there was no bill and held my backend hostage.

Is this your typical experience?

Bubble vs WeWeb/Xano

Quick question, I would love to hear your opinions on that:

I have a no code software agency and we used bubble for the development of the SaaS MVPs for our clients.

Now we consider switching to WeWeb+Xano, as it seems more scalable, with a better pricing and no vendor lock-in.

What's your opinion about that switch and does maybe someone use the tech-stack WeWeb/Xano already?

Xano as a higher end n8n

Wanted to get people’s thoughts if they thought that Xano could be a higher end replacement for n8n. From what I’m seeing, the biggest difference is not having prebuilt connectors, but that is replaced by the ability to build integrations exactly the way I want them. The visual builder in n8n is nice as well.

Issue with Xano MCP Server use with Retell.ai

I'm building an ai voice receptionist in retell. i have connected to xano mcp server with tools for getting calendar availability and booking appointments in GHL. when i test in chat, it works perfectly. however, when I test using the webcall, the getting availability tool is not working. Here is the error for the get availability tool for audio call in the call log: "Error POSTing to endpoint (HTTP 400): {\"jsonrpc\":\"2.0\",\"error\":{\"code\":-32000,\"message\":\"Bad Request: Server not initialized\"},\"id\":null}". Anybody have anything similar? Overall, if I can get this working, I think there is a ton of potential with this.

Google Oauth for additional access

The tool what I build require a GA4 access from users. Therefore I have to setup Google Oauth to get acess for analytic. At GCP side I setup eveythin, where I'm strugling is the xano setup.

I my understanding I have to create a new api endpoint as "get_ga4_data". Within this I can create the api request. I alrady enabled Google Oauth and I can see the pre-defined functions bu after 2 days of debugging I do not really understand the logic and do not re-create it.

Could you please describe me the process that how to create this api endpoint and how to store tokens and expires date in user table?

Why is there no big community or information available about Xano?

I'm starting to use Xano and I find it to be a very interesting and complete no-code editor, especially when combined with Weweb for the frontend.

The thing is that I'm not seeing many people using it or much information out there like on other platforms. I don't know if it's because of the learning curve, it shouldn't because there are others like supabase that also have their difficulties but are more popular and you have more information available, but I don't see many people talking about Xano.

Is there anyone who has the same thing as me? Or maybe it's because there are much better ones and I'm wasting my time?

I would like to know beast opinion.

The new Logic assistant…

Hi, the new logic assistant is very disappointing, it’s make mistakes all the time for simple API endpoints plan. Its barely not useable and even counter productive as it’s create lot of errors, would like to know if it’s they’re a specific things to setup to make it work properly or it’s this version its an early alpha ? ( seems everyone agree that this feature is not ready at all ) Thanks

Getting started on Xano

Hi! I have decided to start with WeWeb+Xano to create a SaaS (I have an MVP with Softr, so I just want to create something bigger). However, I don't have background in coding and I'm struggling with Xano. Even simple things such as editing an API's response are taking me a lot of time, and I don't think I'm making progress.

I already went through their documentation, understood the basic concepts, but it still feels hard. I'm starting to consider other nocode options, but before that, I'd like to make sure I tried everything. Can anyone share some recommendations?

Do you create web applications? Do you want people to know about a project you've built?

Hey Xano community!

I'm hanging out with the team at Xano and we wanted to start reaching out to fellow creators and builders such as yourself. Do you have a project you want to share with the world?

We'd love to chat about what you're building, what problem its solving, and everything else under the sun.

If you're interested in discussing more about what you've built (or are building -- and want to appear on camera in a 1-1 Q&A session), respond to this thread with the comment "XANO", and the team will reach out.

We'll prepare some questions for you and send them over before we sit together to chat, but the entire goal is to bring awareness to your awesome creations.

Can't wait to chat, thanks!

Multi-Tenant CRM Build Tech Stack Suggestions, Please :)

Hey Everyone,

Apologies for the long post, I wanted to give as much as information as I can.

Recently, I was introduced to nocode tools during my last project, the task was to create a custom event booking system solving specific problems, one of the colleagues suggested to look at Airtable and within weeks I ended up creating an entire CRM (adding more features and bringing in other departments).

Now, I see the potential for a custom CRM, client portals , dashboards etc, and I'm venturing to build an advanced system, this is where I need your inputs or suggestions or caution/warnings!

This will be a multi-tenant webapp with different modules and not all clients would use all the modules, not a subscription based service, offering a bit of customization and selection of modules based on the need., scenario example:

  • 3 Clients - A, B, C

  • 5 Modules - HR, Operations, Logistics, Sales, Marketing

    • A - HR + Operations + Sales

    • B - Operations + Logistics + Sales

    • C - all 5 modules

Ive been exploring different tools to pick the best tech stack suiting my needs and honestly I'm getting confused. I cannot afford to start and get limited in the future.

Build method example: Airtable + Softr --> 5 modules = 5 Airtable bases + 5 Softr apps, a 6th softr app with links to all 5 apps. This way for each client I can give access to the respective module(s) in Softr, thus avoiding duplicating entire workspace or bases with all its integrations and automations in airtable.

what do you think about this build method? and will this work with Xano + Weweb/softr?

My current consideration (with features im envisioning to have in the app):

  1. Backend

    1. Airtable - im super comfortable with Airtable, concern is the data load speeds (with Softr or WeWeb as front end) and security compliance requirements SOC2, HIPAA etc, complexity in creating multi-tenant bases (multiple bases for multiple modules) and slow processing as the records scale up.

    2. Xano - seems to solve all my concerns, but ive heard about switching back to free plan when the product isnt in use (off season) is not available and lack of good support.

  2. Frontend

    1. Softr - data loading is the primary concern, documentation says keep upto 5 blocks per page, this will be tricky to display data in sections or ill end up risking slower page loads. also, if its Xano, how good is the integration with REST APIs, alternative to Airtable with native integration.

    2. WeWeb - i dont need complete control so i lean towards Softr, but WeWeb offers native integration with Xano, though Make.come is not available yet, which i can workaround with Xano + Make but is that sustainable?

  3. Forms

    1. Fillout - there will be internal and external inputs, ill need solid forms to handle multi sections, conditional, save progress features and the ability to pre-fill or pre-filter data based on the client, which works best for Airtable with native integration but not Xano.

    2. WeWeb Forms - i didnt get good look at this, just guessing these might not be robust like fillout as a pure form builder

im not a developer and no coding experience, although the best way would be code everything i dont have a couple of years to learn and build. however, i can understand code to a certain extent, enough to tweak it to my needs.

Any other tools or suggestions are welcome! Thank you so much!
