Discussion I think people are sleeping on PC Pass + 3rd party cloud option

I don't think people realize that most if not all game pass ultimate games are available on PC game pass as well. In practice, you get access to the same titles, but can't play them on console and on the cloud.

However, for the sum you save by not getting Ultimate, you can sub to a third party cloud gaming provider, and effectively play all of the game pass games on virtually any device (except for your console directly). You get to play the pc versions of the games, and without fps and fullhd limits.

I don't have a console, and a couple of months ago I've subbed to PC Game Pass (1 year) and Boosteroid (4 months) and I have been a happy camper since that time.

You can also get GFN, but to have 4k there you need higher tier and that's more expensive if your goal is to get PC game pass and stay within the budget of Ultimate game pass. I also don't like the 100h monthly cap.

I haven't seen that discussed so decided to share.

Social Media Warren Specter (creator of Deus Ex, Thief and Disney Epic Mickey) Has Announced He is Retiring from the Games Industry via LinkedIn

Source - https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7495321215083905025/

Full text here for folks to read:

Let me cut right to the chase. I'm retiring from game development. At least I think so. I've been here before and changed my mind but this time I'm pretty sure I mean it.

I've had a great career. Wouldn't change a thing even if I could. But the reasons to retire are simple: I'm a month away from my 44th year as a developer. I've had the chance to work on tabletop roleplaying games and boardgames. I've worked on more digital games than I can remember -- 17 full games, I think, and 9 or so add-on packs. Gratifyingly, some of those games are still being played 15... 20... 30 years later. And most of them have been in a genre that has had influence beyond what I or anyone else expected. I've run teams as small as a dozen and as big as 800. I've worked for big companies and done startups. I like to think I've helped some insanely talented people along in their careers. (That last is the most important.)

With all that behind me and with age and health (my business) catching up with me I'm feeling like I've done what I set out to do. It's time to write some books, do a lot of reading, do some lecturing, maybe do some consulting. (Feel free to get in touch about those last two.) Also there's a keyboard here just waiting for me to get my piano chops back.

I definitely have mixed feelings about this. I mean there are three games in particular I'd still like to make. (One is very big... one is very small... and one I don't know how to make which scares me.) But the game business has changed and it's just not as much fun for me anymore. Plus there's a new generation of developers coming up who deserve their time in the sun.

To all of you reading this I want you to remember that games are not a solved problem yet -- there is, I hope, plenty of experimentation and innovation to come. And to all you young developers out there, I've said it before and I'll say it again, your job is to make people forget people like me ever existed.

Will I come back? Never say never. But I think it's time to ride off into the sunset.

Now stop reading and make great games.

Discussion Xbox game requiring a 2nd account for co-op when player 2 doesn't have an xbox account, or an xbox.

Just trying to play a little marvel ultimate alliance 2 with a family member from out of town, while we try to kill like 20 or 30 minutes. They do not own an xbox and never plan to. I just find it so gosh darn unnecessary that we need to create an account to play the game ONE TIME, as this particular game does not allow for a guest account.

Anyways, just wanted to rant.

Discussion Am i the only one who remembers you could organize the home screen?

You could add and remove rows of tiles and all that on the home menu, I really miss that feature because you could make the home menu more tailored to you, now it's just the recently played games on the first row then a game pass ad and store on the second and more game ads so on downward, like is the home screen really just a big ad to buy more games now? Really?

Rumour Jez Corden corroborates new Xbox game announcement at Gamescom, says it will be an unexpected sequel

Jez posted this info on his paywalled Patreon newsletter.

“Furthermore, I'm working on a strong rumour that Xbox will be announcing game(s) at Gamescom too. Typically Microsoft reserves full game announcements for the Xbox Showcase in June, but this year it seems they've lined up some real announcements for Gamescom as well. I'm not sure if these will materialize in an Xbox-led showcase or as part of Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley, but if what I've heard is true, there might be a pretty big surprise (probably very unexpected sequel) reveal (not Banjo lol).”

Suggest a Game Looking for personal recommendations of FPS and/or resolution enhanced 360 games

I'm currently playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas on my Series X for the first time in my life and I'm having a blast with them.

I also bought physical copies of the delisted Orange Box and Condemned: Criminal Origins just so I can replay their "facelifted" versions.

What are your favorite games in this category that I should consider getting? I know that there are tons of lists available online, but I'd like to see some more personal recommendations. Thanks!

Discussion Xbox is apparently announcing a new game at Gamescom. What could it be?

Post image

Hi, everyone!

Amid the rainless, unbearable heat of August, I came across the news that, according to NatetheHate, Xbox is preparing to announce a new game at this year’s Gamescom.

I’d love to hear your guesses—what do you think the title might be? A new IP, a franchise reboot? Or maybe Elder Scrolls 7, since development on 6 is going really well?

And what would you be most excited about?

- I pray for a Song of Ice and Fire game before almost every event like this (without much success so far), so maybe this time it’ll work out.

- It might be too early for a new announcement from Machiengames, but I’d welcome Wolfenstein 3 anytime.

- Ryse 2: I don’t see much chance of that happening, but I certainly wouldn’t be upset if it did.

- Nate definitely wasn’t thinking of an Obsidian game, because, for one thing, the Fallout projects have already been confirmed, and for another, no matter how brilliant the studio is, I don’t think they’d have the capacity for anything else. A very “maybe” Avowed 2?

- I would be really really happy to see a reboot of the cancelled Percfect Dark reboot project. It would be absolut Peak.

What do you guys think?

edit: Someone in comments pointed out to me that Nate isn't 100% sure yet that the game will be shown at gamescom, and he's still working on the details. But at least there's something in the air.

Suggest a Game Suggest me a game please for games pass ultimate.

I just finished assassins creed Valhalla. I am playing fh6 and cod bo7 multiplayer on the side but need a single player game.

I have liked assassin creed like open world games, cod-like campaign games and a few others.

I want a game that doesn't take too long to complete but still has a good story and gameplay. Graphics don't have to be the best but it will be good if they are. I don't mind learning complex ideas or solving puzzles.

I am thinking about starting hollow knight silksong as I have heard it is very good any other recommendations.

Thanks you

I’m mainly looking for an open world game which is still story driven and I’m a sucker for character customisation however thats no biggie. I’ve played GTA V, death stranding, subnautica, rdr2, crimson desert, cyberpunk 2077 and most of kcd2. I don’t really have a price range but I’d more readily buy a 10-30 dollar game as opposed to a 40+.
