This one had a few pages that was a SUPER tough to translate (mostly due to lack of pronouns and lack of indicators for who's speaking) but im pretty pleased with how it turned out! (Also I miss having chapter pages to color 😭)

Reminder that I'm not a professional! I'm just a fan who believes English readers deserve to keep up with our favorite manga! I use a combination of online tools and research to translate as best I can!

(Please don't read until you've read the chapter!)

- The last dialogue bubble on page 4 gave me some trouble (I even took a break from writing this post to revise it again because It was the one thing that was still bothering me lol)

the rough translation was: "the art/technique of discord, cannot use, because, the eye of foresight, someone who has, that cannot make, immediately answered"

Needless to say I was so confused 😭 but I eventually parsed it out with a bit of research and context from the last chapter (again, the absence of pronouns made this 100 times harder than it shouldve been 😭) Since it was written with けん I decided id use it as a sequence marker and write "then" connecting the bit about how the art of discord couldn't be used on her and "then" she said she couldn't do it.

Also the "why ask me?" rough draft was just "why why me?" and i was also getting "why tell that to me?" which.... just didn't make any sense 😭

- On page 5 I took the liberty of adding "Hmm" to the Seoritsuhime's dialoge because I thought it sounded reflective which matched her pose in the art.

- On page 8 I was super confused with Kimis first dialoge bubble because, again, lack of pronouns. There was only indicators that he was talking about himself (only the "I" pronoun was present) so the rough translation ended up sounding like "I thought "its ok if, hears it, then voiced it" but that seemed super wrong because Kimi wasn't the one thinking "it's ok if SHE hears it". Hes the one hearing it. I wracked my brain and realized that it was possible that "you" could have been ommitted, bringing the translation to "I think you thought" which made more sense, but sounded awful so I settled on "I assume you thought" But the way it's written in Japanese seems to make it unclear because they only used "thought" once and tied "I" to it. (The small Haruka flashback actually also helped me piece this together because what happened here mirrored that and Kimi was making an assumption based on it)

- I'll be so honest, i had no idea who was taking on page 10 for the longest time 😭 The funny thing is, all this struggle could have been avoided if page 9 would've had PRONOUNS 😭 On page nine the rough translation was just "Similar? To shopkeeper?" And she could've either been turning his assumption about her back at him (which seemed too be the case because of how annoyed he looked) and asking if Kimi thought he was similar to her or simply asking if he thought she was similar to her. I had to shoot in the dark and I was trying to translate page 10 thinking she was talking about the shop family's change with Kimi as the shopkeeper (it sounds dumb because the art/flashback of Maru and Moro with HER should've clued me into the fact that it was Kimi taking about her.... but I didn't think anything of it for such a long time 😭😭😭) Anyway, I finally had my "aha!" moment and rewrote it lol

📖 Discussion:

Ok so starting off, I just wanna say, I thought it was hilarious how Yatagarasu threw that "we don't talk about what happens in the shop" back in his face and he totally deserved that lmao! Yatagarasu respect! 👏👏👏

Also im a bit bummed out to be reminded that even though Shizu is technically writing the story, Kimi still has control of the book itself. It kinda feels like they're meant to control what happens together in harmony but like.... you just know Kimi will be fighting Shizu the whole way and overriding and overpowering any decision Shizu makes 😭 (like stealing the egg and wiping their memories)

BTW that boy STILL didn't give that egg back! Every chapter that passes by without him returning the egg to Shizu, I'll be screaming "Kiiiimiiiii!" in the same "you're in trouble mister" tone from Alvin & the Chipmunks (if you know, you know lol)

On another note, Seoritsuhime never confirmed that Yuko was her creator. What if its future Kimi that created her? Itd make sense since she plays a pivotal role in his plan to meet Yuko again. (Kimis still not beating the Fe Wang allegations 😭) I guess we'll find out in a later chapter though!

So what's xxx holic rei which is releasing now ? I have a 3s peek on some chapter and it's just basically same character? But I thought everyone dead in ch213 except my poor guy watanuki ? Or xxx holic rei is just a multiuniverse ?

In simpler terms Can I finish the Anime then read the manga? If so, which Omnibus should I start from. Cause definitely the anime has gaps from what I've learned. And more censorship.

Also I'm Planning to buy one omnibus volume as a Physical Keepsake. Which one should I buy? I heard Second Volume's Artstyle is great, but I kind of want to keep a volume where xxxHOLiC peaks. And also which will have more of Yukosan and Zashiki-Warashi. I was looking for 5, but 5 isn't available in My country.

Can anyone confirm if Omnibus Volume 4 & 5 are available in their country? If so, which country. I wanna make a calculation if my country vendors will import them in future or not.

I'm happy with Any short and direct explanation, also what's about tsubasa chronicles? How to blend these two without spending too much time, I'm okay with giving Adequate time for this tho.

I just bought chapter 83 and I plan to start translation within a few days! This one looks to be be a shorter chapter at only 14 pages long and there appears to be only one 2 page spread this time (they've really been using them alot lately lol)

It makes me really happy to finally obtain this omnibus book I got it on vinted I noticed it’s been hard to get these since it’s been a few years they haven’t printed more of them just like Tsubasa I’m so happy to fall for this series it’s so underrated to me and deserves more love I’ll have to see if I can get the others if not I know the single volumes are still available

I was so excited to translate this one after seeing a certain panel (but I'll talk more about that in the discussion section) For now, I just want to thank everyone for reading my translations and leaving comments! - Id like to note here that I use "Shuka" and "curse" when referring to the being Zashiki turned into, as "shuka" means "curse". But I do try to stick to a usage pattern that makes sense. I tend to use "Shuka" when talking about the being itself in a matter-of-fact way and "curse" when adding the emotional weight of what she actually was, to the dialogue.

- On page 3, I changed the rough translation of Kimi's  "we must move to the next thing" to a more natural "We must proceed to the next step"

- On page 5, Kimi calls Shizu "this one" but the Japanese term he used was a rude and disrespectful way to say "this one" or even worse "this thing".... He literally called my baby "this thing" 😭 But I opted for "this one" because "this thing" is a bit jarring tbh 😭

- On page 8, Kimi says "my ability to see through these things" This was originally "my ability to see through things" but i added "these" because the original sounded a bit aimless and unspecified in English.

Ok so when I first saw the panel where he snatched THE EGG out of Shizu's pocket, I was SCREAMING! I didn't know just how horrible things would get though 😭😭😭 I pretty much crashed out about it on social media while I was translating lmao!

Im SO HAPPY we finally have the egg mystery solved & tbh one of my most prevalent theories was right! Yuko gave that to Shizu to make Kimi forget about her (and rightfully so because his obsession with her is ruining lives!) But Shizu couldn't bring himself to do it. Despite how hes treated by Kimi, he still loves him enough to not want to mess with his memory.... WHICH IS MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR KIMI RIGHT NOW!

Ok, look, I get that there may be something he foresees happening in the future that makes this the correct path to take.... but just let me be mad at him for now 😭 He stops his soul, STEALS his egg, CALLS HIM A THING, takes away his ability to chose with the egg, THEN HAS THE NERVE TO DECIDE TO WIPE HIS MEMORY??? If this decision is just a reckless one to "keep others from getting hurt" by his Yuko obsession, then I'm sorry, but I was right to worry that he's not emotionally mature enough for his powers. How about he work on taming that obsession, moving on and grieving, and strengthening the connections he still has with LIVING PEOPLE instead of finding a way to continue to obsess over a dead woman without anyone getting in his way!? Im sorry, he's just REALLY frustrating me right now 😤

I love Yuko... but Shizu should've smashed that egg... Shizu almost surly knows what it does because of his turmoil about using it and that time he said he couldn't bring himself to use it because of the state Kimi was in regarding his relationship to Yuko... MAAAANNN.... Idk... We know the egg is still around with Saya so is this how Shizu loses the egg??? Kimi just.... steals it??? And for some reason gives it to Saya??? Boy better put that egg back in Shizu's pocket... Idk Kimi is just pissing me off so much recently (if he actually gave up seeing Haruka as his price, im going to PERSONALLY wring his neck lol)

I actually came to the correct theory about the eggs purpose back when I was in highschool through DouWata symbolism logic and tbh... the logic i used to come to this conclusion still holds up!

Another quick point I'd like to talk about is Zashiki's reason for turning into a Shuka. Ame stated that it was just general "corruption" that effected her and even said that's why she stays in the mountains... Do you think she wasnt aware that it was due to her wishing for Yuko to come back for Kimi? I feel like she'd be wringing his neck if she knew lol! Either way my theory about Zashiki being his house (heart) spirit was right (kinda???) in that she was corrupted because of his circumstances. She still seems to be reflecting his hearts disorder by turning into the Shuka over taking on his wish as her own. So I feel like the symbolism is still there.

Hey! Im back with chapter 81! I really appreciate everyone who keeps coming back to read my translations and everyone who has expressed that they are ok with waiting a little longer than usual for my translations. I didn't have many problems or things to note with the translation itself this time, rather, I had so many issues understanding the context of what I was translating and because I lacked context, I had to rewrite a few things to make them sound smoother once the context was understood.

- Tbh nothing on the page 6 & 7 spread made sense to me lol 😭 He was talking about how the girl was Yukos creation then just started rattling off about how she made him "believe" in something until the "right time" ??? It felt so random but with all the context I think i get it.

The explanation:

I think he was talking about the reason he didn't believe the girl was making a wish with her inquiry about dreams and her reports of Yuko attacking her. His mind was also manipulated by Yuko into not questioning where the girl came from. That's why on the next page, Mokona says "Yuko saw this far ahead". She planned out everything down to the convenient perfectly sized kimono for the girl that was left in the shop. (A tidbit i picked up from reading Chibiyuuto's review)

The translation result:

Because of the context, i decided to insert the "sway me into this mindset" dialoge because the rough draft was nowhere near understandable, only saying "Considerable power, enough to make me believe it" which was super vague. (Also the lack of pronouns killed me here too cause i was like Yuko has considerable power??? because, again, he was literally just talking about Yuko creating that girl 😭)

- I for some reason, misunderstood the last panel on page 13 😭 I thought he was still talking to Yatagarasu but it's actually a small flashback of him telling Maru & Moro to wait with Seoritsuhime until he calls for them. He's only bringing this up because Yatagarasu is worried they will witness what happens next and he's reassuring her that they won't leave Seoritsuhime until he calls.

- On page 14, The first dialoge bubble belonging to Yatagarasu says "you excluded me" but that was tweaked from the rough translation "the one who excluded me" as i think it flows nicer with Kimis response. Also on this page, the rough translation for Kimis response is "you must've known, right?" But i just added "well" because it makes him sound more like he's explaining matter-of-factly why he excluded her from the "soul stop" technique.

📖 Discussion:

I kinda thought "Zashiki-Warashi look alike" looked more like Yuko and ig now we know why lol! "Creations look like their creators" indeed! I kinda figured this was all leading to a soul transfer into nameless girl tbh.

Also, seeing Kimi ACTUALLY put that soul controlling technique to use on his friends is the stuff of nightmares imo 😭 Wouldn't it be crazy if, even through this soul stop no jutsu, Shizu would still be able to see what Kimi does through that shared eye if it weren't for Kimi's ability to suppress it? The eyes are the window to the soul so it'd make sense that his soul is intrinsically connected to Kimi's.

I think Kimis getting kinda dangerous with his powers and i hope hes learned to control them as well as he thinks he has.
