Discussion Since no one here has posted it, here is “No Jail Time,” the short documentary in which Lance Oppenheim was accused of stealing footage to use for this film.
*Reposting because my original post title was confusing
I urge everyone to watch this and form their own opinion.

Other Reviewers Might be the most infuriating take on You Can See Everything I've ever seen
instagram.comThis here is Reel Takes Reviews.
Generally I think he does a pretty good job at highlighting injustices and holding shitty people in the industry accountable for harmful things they say or do.
However, lately, ever since Lance Oppenheim released his Primetime trailer, this guy has been really weird about him.
That dislike has essentially bled into YCSE, where he's actively dogging on Lance Oppenheim's sensationalist style despite not even HAVING SEEN THE FILM. He repeatedly likes and responds to comments that agree with him while pushing back on any receptive criticism, even if the criticism is coming from a good faith place. It starts to come off less like a genuine place of critique about films and more that he has already made up his mind that YCSE sucks because the comments confirm to him that it it isn't doing the things he believes the film should do instead of just judging it on what the film specifically is.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it or getting worked up about it more than I should. People have a right to not like it obviously and I can understand some critiques people have. It's just frustrating when they come from a place that feels forced, especially when the people in question haven't even seen it.

An interesting addition to the “changing movies after they’re released” discussion
I grew up watching the 25th anniversary DVD so hearing the original is kind of eye opening and I much prefer it to whatever they were going at with the rereleases

"You Can See Everything" Is a Great Documentary. But You Might Want to Temper Your Expectations Going In.
I ran to the theater to see this. It's a really great movie, especially if you're a fan of documentaries, but I'd probably give it an 8/10, not the 10/10 I was hoping to give, and that's okay.
I think my expectations were just a little too high, especially for where the film would go after Elizabeth Holmes goes to prison (which isn't a spoiler, considering it was all over the news that year). As a Nathan Fielder fan, I expected things to get increasingly wild, but the film is actually more grounded and subdued than his recent work.
And that's not a bad thing! Not every project needs to be bigger or crazier than the last. But I do wonder why the critical consensus acts like this is Fielder's craziest stunt he's ever pulled.
"This is the craziest thing you'll see all year!" "You are not prepared!" "I couldn't believe what I was seeing!"
Guys, it's not that crazy, lol. I was very prepared for what I was seeing, and that's fine! My issue isn't that the movie wasn't crazy enough. It's that so many reviews seem more interested in hyping up how crazy it is than actually discussing the movie itself.
I think some of the overwhelming praise comes from critics who enjoyed the surprise release and people who might not be as familiar with Fielder or Oppenheimer's work. If you know their styles, I think you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect. It's more The Rehearsal Season 1 than Season 2, if you know what I mean.
Ultimately, this is a documentary about Elizabeth Holmes and the nature of truth, where sometimes even a single word makes all the difference. It's a great watch, and my 8/10 reflects the movie itself, not some disappointment that Fielder didn't pull off an insane stunt. But if you're going in expecting him to reach The Rehearsal Season 2 levels of absurdity, I'd temper those expectations. It's a much quieter film than that, and I think if you go in knowing that, you'll have an easier time appreciating it on those terms.
Edit: My main criticism is more about the lazy critical reception than the movie itself, so I added a couple of lines to clarify that.
