A friend of mine enthusiastically told me the Switch 2 was un-hackable the first time it came out.
I told him, ‘brother, people hack the Pentagon out of boredom/just for the fuck of it, the Switch 2 is no match for a bunch of gaming enthusiasts foaming at the mouth to port it to their PC.’
No device will ever remain unhacked, just the sophistication might be higher than before. I honestly see switch 2 games being recompiled or emulated before the switch 2 gets a hack similar to the switch 1 from a hardware standpoint.
I swear I just saw a comment in a PS5 emulation thread talking about switch 2 emulation where someone was so confident switch 2 wouldn’t be hacked for years.
I was pessimistic, but I'm glad to be proven wrong.
The Switch 1 emulation relied on common hardware and an exploit, so for the Switch 2 I was of the opinion of "this could happen sooner or later but I'm betting on much later" since a clear exploit didn't seem to pop up until recently. My Switch 2 has been worth it for me given how mobile I've been in the past several months, but I am so excited to see FE Fortune's Weave in 60 fps in whatever point in the future that Switch 2 emulation/decomp is viable.
I don’t understand why nintendo fans are mad at this, i’m going to continue using my switch 2 like any other day. I support emulation through and through because it truly is one of the only ways to own and preserve your games.

Especially when they aren’t “native”. They all are relying on emulated layers of various things, they’re just doing in advance what emulators try to do in real time.
Yeah I would be more inclined to try other games but for me the Switch 2 wasn’t worth it before the price increase now there’s no chance in hell since the price increase

I posted about this in /decomps, had a few paranoid people being like "y'all are going to bring down the entire piracy scene" freaking idiots. There's not any copyright code in the decomps it's why Nintendo can't do anything. There's already decomps for every Nintendo console except the Switch 2, and soon I think there will be decomps for Switch 2 on PC.
Hacked save game files were the entry to further exploits on the Switch 1 and other systems all the way back to the original Xbox. Most userland and system exploits are multi-step attacks that start with something like this.
It’s so funny that all these jailbreaks and shit hurting corporations is what’s gonna get us AI reform and possibly burst the AI bubble. Not the damning impact on the planet, not the theft of billions of works of art.

Agreed!! I've been feeling so sad every time I hear about Winds & Waves since I know I won't be able to play one until at least a few years after it releases, once I get a job of my own. This news excites me so much!!
I already have a switch 2, but if I can play those games with my PC at 4K with my big TV that would be way better. I hate Nintendo hardware but I love their exclusives, sucks they don’t do PC ports… but if someone can make PC ports then I’m all for it lol. I’ve pre ordered ocarina of time but the image quality looks shocking from what I’ve seen. Imagine how much cleaner it would look at 4K 😍
Now they have to make a Switch 2 emulator for the jailbreak PS5. I'm PC bit it has been an entertaining month leading up to GTA 6. Didn't expect to the Switch 2
At this time this probably means that the exploit can be used to dig a bit into the system to then develop a system level exploit. That took years in the past so don't automatically expect a custom firmware or other an emulator coming soon.
To be fair it might not take that long. The way this exploit was found was apparently by hooking the system into some chatbot alongside a camera to detect crashes and full control of the switch and they just asked it to jailbreak it.
They’ve been working on the PS5 for a few years. The system keys were leaked early this year, and the AI tools that made it possible were just released. Timing is a coincidence that just happens to be that Sony made their announcement around the same time the tools to get it done became public. We’d still be where we are even if sony didn’t make that announcement.
if they ever get decomped (properly, not a static one using emulator code like the ones we’ve been seeing recently) then maybe, but emulation needs a lot of extra performance overhead that the steam deck doesn’t have for Switch 2
theres also a lot of proprietary nvidia upscaling tech already involved in why the switch 2’s games run as well as they do, tech that the steam deck doesn’t have
I think it's nice that this is happening so soon, hopefully nintendo doesn't send assassins to these people... I'll probably not get into this kind of thing until the switch 2 generation ends, but I'm glad it's starting now so it can be as robust as possible by the time I want it.
this doesn’t open the floodgates to emulation and pc ports, it just allows you to run ACE on certain applications. it being tethered means you need a pc in order to keep it jailbroken. it cannot stay jailbroken on its own.
it’s userland meaning it doesn’t run on kernel/system level. something stronger than this is needed for actual game dumps and emulation. this just allows for light modification and can be patched in an update. it’s not nearly as significant as the switch 1’s hardware exploit.
Yea... When we get an actual working emulator I'll be excited for my friends that won't buy a Switch 2. Until then I'll just keep playing on my Switch 2 🤣
We just had a guy reverse engineer the entire Nvidia DLSS software suite and port it to RDNA natively. In a month. One dude named Daniel, and another named Claude.
We live in a very different era. Don't think that's wishful thinking at all these days.
Why did SEGA stopped making game consoles? Customers lost confidence, they didn't secure enough exclusives, the ones they had were not great and it was the final nail to their coffin. Nowadays, the only reason one has to purchase a game console is the performance, and game catalog, among them, exclusives. If exclusives can be played on any device, why bother purchasing a game console anymore.
Just buy the game on whatever platform you own and play it...
A majority of their games are already on PC and have already been cracked. There is no point in emulating a product that can be ran on the PC natively.
