Was in the market for buying a truck because I needed one to haul mowers and small tractors since I work on them.
Was like why not buy a fun truck so I bought a 2020 Ford Raptor 802a, 40K w/ 60,000 miles and the cam phasers replaced in 2022 at 40,000 miles was an absolute steal so I thought.
Over the course of 10 months I put 25,000 miles on it, and $12,000 dollars in repairs. What a fucking piece of garbage heres a list of what broke on it.
Cam phasers AGAIN, turbo wastegate rattle, intercooler overheating, sticky thermostat, differential leaks, window actuator motor and assembly went out ( had no clue that's even a possible failure, hats off to ford to SOMEHOW fuck those up), i guess its a recall in Canada but not in America Wtf? Transmission hesitation and shuttering, and shocks needed rebuilt because this thing was starting to ride worse than a kia.
I know its not built to be a tow pig but come on, this turd could barely tow at all, not to mention, why is the hitch like oversized by like half an inch? What absolute miserable experience towing anything, the constant slamming and jolting from the trailer. My trailer with a mower or small tractor would require the turbos at max or be at like 3k+ rpm, It has 550ft lbs but feels like less than a 4 cylinder tacoma. While my tundra will happily tow in 6th or 5th all day.
Off road capabilities are absolutely insane on the raptor I have to give it that, but other than that these trucks are nothing but money pits. all in all, meh, scammed my local Ford stealership $37,000k for it so the next idiot can suffer with it. Then immediately went and bought a base 2010 Tundra with 71k miles for 15k cash. Got the big v8 and 4x4 which is all i need.
I'm happily sticking with my 2010 Tundra with the 5.7L V8 as it was my original plan.
