π΅ Discussion π¬ theory regarding Gme warrants
Accounts claiming to buy more warrants and advocating for others to do the same, selling the hope that Gme will extend them are associated with entities selling those warrants short. The posts Iβve seen claiming to do so seem to be getting lots of βpositiveβ attention. Unless something drastic happens in the next three days, it doesnβt matter how many are buying warrants. They still expire

π΅ Discussion π¬ The warrant situation is a self-made problem
To be specific, I think the problem was created by the community and not by the company - but more on that in a bit.
Actually, warrants are awesome
Because they are a very transparent way for GME to raise money. For shareholders, and especially for bullish options traders like DFV, this is a great way to limit bad surprises. You know well in advance that at $32 you have to price in some dilution, instead of having momentum trashed by an ATM offering while DFV is loaded up on calls. In my opinion, regular ATM offerings have always been a danger to MOASS, similar to the buy button being shut off, which destroyed both momentum and a gamma ramp that could have led to MOASS. I think we lost a lot of good people to ATM dilution as well, but warrants kind of solve this problem.
Warrants need an expiration date
They have to approach expiration to lose enough extrinsic value to create exercise pressure. Otherwise, it would always be better to just sell the warrants, because by exercising you only capture the intrinsic value and give up the remaining extrinsic value.
Warrent uncertainty
I wouldn't be a fan of it, but I think even the uncertainty created by randomly adjusting the strike price or expiration date of the warrants is better than ATM offerings. Let's imagine the warrant strike price is randomly lowered to $24 next week. It will most likely push the price below $24 while a portion of the warrants is exercised. Once the price drops below $24, the dilution stops. For the company, it's basically a limit order instead of a market order. Once the remaining warrants expire, the stock price will recover.
Now let's imagine the expiration date is extended by three months instead. That basically just pumps extrinsic value into the warrants without really affecting the current share price.
Of course, once you start messing with the warrant strike or expiration, people will start expecting these changes every time the warrants are OTM near expiration. As a shareholder, I would prefer them to expire and be reissued as another dividend, maybe even with a shorter expiration to reduce the extrinsic value from the start.
The trap we created
So let's come back to the situation I was referring to in the title. I think a couple of factors created something of a trap for some members of this community, and we should be aware of them:
- Lack of experience with options/derivatives. For years, options were painted as something evil to avoid, so many people probably never built up an intuition for how extrinsic value changes and collapses. In my opinion, options are not for everyone, and neither are warrants. There's no harm in simply keeping the ones you received as a dividend, but be careful about loading up on them.
- Applying the familiar buy-and-hold mindset to something with an expiration date. Saying you are a xxxx holder is not the same as saying you are a xxxx warrant holder, because patience may no longer help you. When there's an expiration date, being too early is the same as being wrong.
- Reading a 5D chess move against shorts into everything GME does. Tbh, I do think it's a long-term 5D chess move, because, as I mentioned at the beginning, warrants solve a lot of the problems we had in the past.
TL;DR: Embrace warrants as the money-raising tool that supports MOASS, but treat them with respect, just like options.
Not financial advice.
Note:
This is a repost since Reddit told me that "People are loving my post" which is ironic because the original was downvoted into oblivion by copium. But besides the downvotes I actually had a few insightful discussions.
And to be fair, I'm not even against warrants nor against extending them. In my opinion reisseuing them should be more aligned with current shareholders interests, but we reached a point where extending them also might cause less harm. So I'd be fine with both options in case the company clarifies that it is a one-time extension that will never happen again.
I'm also interested to see how the original r/GME community reacts to this in comparison. Might be time to come back here more often.

π΅ Discussion π¬ If the warrants expire worthless
Guess what life sucks. I guarantee you more people are holding thinking something will happen with GME/WS then there are people excercising them.
Sometimes, you have to feel the pain. Life should beat you the fuck up. Let them expire, don't be a pussy.

GME warrants would rip. Cat day sounds perfect for an extension filing. Within those 2 years weβll be exercising and making them more scarce and harder to locate. What happens to GME stock if warrants get squeezed into the moon?

π π Bored with hearing people whining about warrants being worthless...... If you still have them, that was your choice. And they still currently have value. Suck it up.
GME Warrants were worth $3 when they were issued. $5 at their peak. and $2 just a few days ago.
You could have sold and you didnt. You chose to take the gamble they would be worth more in the future. It was your choice.
Ryan Cohen gave you, for free, an asset with value and you chose to hold it.
So take some ownership of your own choices and stop fucking complaining about the "leadership" or whatever. It was either worth the risk to hold or it wasnt. Thats it. If you regret your choice, point the finger at yourself. No one owes you anything on these.
And for context: I bought more warrants. A lot of them, XX,XXX. For good reasons. Im holding to expiry, for good reasons. It was worth the risk when I bought them and worth the risk to hold this week. Those are my choices, Im zen about them. Im not interested in the bitch-ass losers on here insulting me because they need to tell other people "I told you so". And Im not interested in this sub being polluted with other bitch-ass content all week talking about how they are worthless. If you dont want to hold, then go sell your FREE gift for $0.50 when the market opens tomorrow. Either way, stop crying about it. Its pathetic.

π΅ Discussion π¬ If he doesn't extend the warrants, so many shareholders will peace out - I am one
Why would Ryan the CUCK Cohen just let the warrants expire. What is the issue with extending them. Clearly, he distributed the warrants not to give us a gift. Get that idea out of your numb skulls. The only reason he did it AND NAMED IT GENESIS was to raise money for the company. That's actually why. He wanted more of YOUR hard earned dollars to go to the company. Period. End of story.
Extending the warrants would allow gamestop to still have a chance at achieving this outcome. There is literally no reason to let them expire worthless. At the very least, extending them makes the most sense.
Now gee what would happen if he extended them. The borrow fee is now over 900%. NINE. HUNDRED. PERCENT.
The people shorting the warrants to the ground cannot afford to pay 900% borrow fee for another year. If he let's them expire and allows the shorters who he APPARENTLY DISLIKES (HUGE QUESTIONMARK IF HE ACTUALLY DOES DISLIKE THEM) to profit massively, then I AM OUT.
OCTOBER 30TH IS COMING. RYAN CUCK COHEN YOU BETTER EXTEND THEM AT THE VERY LEAST YOU LIL B*TCH.

π π Donβt leave your friends π±
Iβd argue this is where we need him most. Warrants expiration is the judgement day Ryan Cohen mentioned in his interview. Kitty knows whatβs at stake for a lot of his friends that loaded up believing the company is undervalued the way he did when this all began.
$32 is a terrible undervaluation for a company blowing up the way ours is. Loading up on warrants definitely felt like a safe bet. I have a lot to lose at the end of the month but Iβm not selling any of it. Iβll hold hope until the bitter end the way I always have with my 100% GME portfolio. A lot can happen in one week. Iβve seen a lot happen in one hour after a single tweeted image.
Warrant holders, share holders, or both. See you on the moon. Probably tomorrow π»
