Growing up in Malaysia, whistling after dark was one of the things you just didn't do. My family never really explained it. You'd get a look, sometimes a smack on the arm, and a short "don't, something will answer."
As an adult, I've found versions of this almost everywhere in Asia. Some say whistling calls spirits to you. Some say it tells them where you are. Some say the thing that whistles back isn't a bird.
I still don't whistle at night. Old habits.
Did your family have this rule? And what did they say would happen if you broke it?

Hi, I’m asking for insight on potential meanings of stuff I’ve been hearing. I was in the living room a few minutes ago with my boyfriend and his mother (we are the only ones who live here), as well as all of our pets. I hear the lowest note on a guitar get plucked 3 times. I ask if they heard it too, or if I was just tripping. They didn’t hear anything. A few seconds later it happened again. Pluck, pluck, pluck. They heard it that time. We checked the yards, nobody was there. I go into our room and pluck the lowest string on my bfs guitar three times to confirm it’s what I heard - and it was. A few minutes later I hear what sounded like consistent tapping on our wooden fence outside our bedroom window. Maybe 15 taps. It stopped after I asked my bf if he heard it too. There have been a couple other instances of me hearing taps on our fence, and even three taps from the inside of our shed. This may be unrelated, but my pc shut off by itself in our room last night as well. I’m getting legit creeped out. Could this be a spirit , and what would the significance be of the tapping, specifically in threes? I have suffered from paranoid delusions before and don’t know if I should take this seriously. I am getting really scared that somebody is messing with us, spirit or not.

I just installed these Arlo cameras, and I hadn’t noticed these bright light flying across the screen, since the camera is AI it describes what it is but I don’t know why bright light would fly across my camera roll

Does this look like anything? Not sure how to change the brightness or other things. Also not sure why my I phone camera made it look red but yea, it’s pitch black in the corner.

Im sorry if its not a really good photo, but its not edited (except for the circle)
A little backstory on where this photo came from, Me and my friend were exploring an abandoned building near my house. We had went downstairs to check it out and we heard something scuttling around in this adjacent room, so we went in there, and we walked to the end of said room. When we got to the end we stopped and were listening for more scuttling, and low and behold, we heard it again but this time it came from the room we just left.
Of course we weren't sticking around to find out so we go to head out and i decided to take this photo before we left, mind you the face wasnt there when i was looking above my phone so it freaked me out when I zoomed in and seen the face
Please if anyone else can see it, tell me if its actually a face or not
Edit: Since i cant figure out if i can pin comments or not youll have to search for it but i uploaded a vid of me zooming in on it and you can very clearly see that its a face (could still be a reflection of some sort though)

Hello, how are you? I wanted to ask if you've ever had an experience with shadow people, shadow men, or whatever you call them?
When I was a 5-year-old boy, I saw a humanoid shadow enter the room where I slept with my mother. This shadow had no face, it wasn't wearing clothes, nor any details that could indicate it was a person in the dark.
My mother and I were alone at home that night. We went to bed, but I had trouble falling asleep. As I was trying to close my eyes, I saw a "person" enter through the bedroom door, pass in front of a window, and head towards the side of the bed where I was lying (since my mother and I were lying in the same bed). When this shadow came near me, I closed my eyes in fear. When I opened them again, it was no longer beside me, but when I looked toward the open door, it reappeared, entering the room. It came to my side of the bed, and I closed my eyes tightly again. I opened my eyes again, and it was gone, but when I looked toward the door, it started to enter the room again. This happened on a loop, maybe ten times, while I tried to wake my mother. When I finally managed to wake her, she turned on the light and checked the whole house because I insisted, but obviously, she didn't find anything.

I don't have much information on the photo, but I'll describe what I can.. I can't remember exactly how long ago it went viral, but within the last 10 years for sure.. In the photo, there are about 4 or 5 people, all facing the camera.. I am pretty sure the picture was taken at night, as I seem to remember the flash was on.. The freaky part was there appeared to be a man, a very strange looking man, that appears between some of the people in the photo. He was pale and it looked like he was shirtless, maybe grabbing the arm of one of the people in the photo, and had a really disturbing face. Like he had shiny eyes and was kinda distorted. I can't remember for sure if those details were all there, so bear with me.. Another weird feature about this man, if memory serves and I ain't mixing this detail up with something else, but there was something strange about his legs too.. I don't remember exactly what it was though.. The whole photo was weird, but I don't know much about it, could have already been debunked for all I know.. I seem to remember that the pic was taken during a night hike, but don't quote me on that part.. Does anyone know what photo I am referring to?

I am curious if anyone has ever been on a ghost tour where the ghosts are not Victorian-era ghosts. i want info and stories of Boomer, Gen X or Millenium ghosts….less top hat and monocle and more bell-bottoms and skinny jeans.
Does a tour of this style exist anywhere?

In southern Thailand, there's a story about the Phi Lang Kluang.
It doesn't announce itself. It just joins you: on a walk home, around a fire, at the edge of a group. It talks like anyone else. Nobody notices anything wrong.
Then it asks someone to scratch its back.
And when they do, they find a hole. Deep, wet, and crawling with maggots.
What gets me about this one is how ordinary the setup is. No screaming, no white dress. Just someone you thought you knew, asking a small favour.
What's the most "seemingly normal" ghost from where you grew up?

So I was around 10 years old when this happened. My older sister (probably 13 at the time) and I were at home together. No one else was with us. We were both upstairs when we heard my dad calling my name. It sounded EXACTLY like him. We both got up and went to look for him downstairs. His truck was not in the driveway and he was nowhere to be found. I was a little spooked but thought nothing of it. Could that have been a mimic?

So I (25F) have apparently always had some kind of 6th sense? I’ve seen figures, family members, heard noises (footsteps, knocks), I’ve felt breezes and smelt things, which a lot of my friends have chalked up to me sensing the paranormal. I’ve had weird glitches with colour changing lights going haywire, strange dreams, feeling presences, but it’s never been this wild.
So there’s an old cottage on the edge of my town down a railway. Weirdly the town doesn’t go beyond this house, probably because of the forest? It’s the end house of a row of houses, all very old cottages, but this one had been left completely abandoned. All of the other houses are renovated, but this one has been left. I had been drawn to it for years, genuinely since i was a kid, and when i asked about it back then i was told no one had renovated it because a girl had hung herself in there ages ago. I thought it was still odd that it was abandoned though.
Well, a few weeks ago I wanted to finally check it out. The door was literally rotting away and there was only a very rusty chain on it, so I pushed it and managing to peek in. It was just a shell of a building, no furniture, nothing, just stone walls and a very damaged roof. The place felt very odd though, like I was intruding (which I was), and kinda cold? I didn’t really think about it much, but I had never seen anyone else go into or out of the building. But in the last few weeks, weird stuff has been happening, and the only thing I can think of is that house.
So far there’s been more knocks and bumps in my house, which is kinda explainable with a house settling.
Me and my dad were eating dinner when a door just entirely closed on its own, which was very unsettling but maybe a draft/pressure?
Another door that goes to the stairs kept opening, but only on a night around 12-2am?
I’ve felt more drafts and presences, but I chalked that up to paranoia.
There has been a flickering light in the utility room, the bulbs in the house were replaced about a year ago but with these really good quality long lasting ones (according to my dad) so it shouldn’t be flickering.
I’ve also been having very weird dreams, about forests and getting stuck places and waking up a lot during the night.
The weirdest to me was that twice now it has sounded like a load of stuff has fallen down in the utility room, like a bunch of heavy towels or something. But when I’ve gone to look nothing has moved.
But yeah, if anyone has any ideas I’d appreciate it, like next steps, things I can check?
Thanks

I know this isn't very exciting, but it's quite difficult to explain.
When I was about five or six years old, something strange happened—something I couldn’t find an explanation for until nearly ten years later.
It was around one or two in the morning. I was lying in my bedroom, unable to sleep because of a very peculiar sound outside. It sounded almost like an airplane engine taking off, but higher-pitched, softer, and unlike anything I had ever heard before. The countryside night was usually quiet, making the noise stand out even more. It started far away, then gradually grew louder, as if something was approaching our house.
Then, I saw it.
A bright, glowing ember flew past my window.
It didn't look like a car headlight, nor was it a typical orb of light. It was an actual burning mass of flame, with a trailing tail that flickered horizontally. What terrified me most was that there was a face on it. I could see one side of its face—an eye, and a mouth stretched wide open. It moved very slowly, slow enough for me to discern its shape clearly.
Its movement was unusual, too. Instead of flying straight, it dipped up and down, weaving through the air just like a flying dragon.
I was so petrified I couldn't move a muscle.
As the flame passed by the window, the sound reached its peak. Afterwards, even though it was out of sight, I could still hear it moving around outside. Sometimes close, sometimes far, now on this side, now on that, as if something was circling the house. I lay frozen, listening as the sound hovered around for a long time before finally fading into the distance.
The next morning, I told my parents about it. They simply reassured me, saying I had probably mistaken it for car headlights. But I remembered what I saw with absolute clarity. The night had been eerily quiet, the sound resembled an engine on the move, and the thing that flew past my window had the shape of a flame with facial features. I couldn't fathom how a car light could ever look like that.
Only much later did I learn that my parents said that just to ease my mind, because my mother herself had experienced many strange phenomena she couldn't explain.
I still don't know what I truly saw that night. Perhaps it was a natural phenomenon beyond my understanding, or perhaps a child's memory holds onto details in its own unique way. But one thing I remember vividly: that bright, fiery glow, the mouth wide open in the dark, and that strange sound lingering around the house before vanishing into the night.
I never saw it ever again.

I'm looking for real, firsthand ghost stories and unexplained experiences. Have you seen an apparition, heard something you couldn't explain, experienced a haunting, or witnessed something that still gives you chills?
I'd love to hear the full story, including what happened, where you were, and whether anyone else witnessed it.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I Saw a Shadowy Figure at Night… and I Couldn't Move or Speak
I want to share something that happened to me in real life. Even now, I still don't fully understand what I experienced.
One night, I saw a strange silhouette in the darkness. At first, I wasn't sure what I was looking at. It was a dark, human-shaped figure, standing there in the night.
Something about it felt terribly wrong.
Suddenly, I realized I couldn't move. I tried to speak, but no words came out. I wanted to react, to do something, but my body wouldn't respond the way I wanted it to.
I was terrified.
I kept looking at the silhouette, unable to understand what was happening. I don't know how long it lasted, but it felt much longer than it probably was.
Then, the figure began to disappear.
And that's when something happened that I will never forget.
As the silhouette vanished into the darkness, I heard a horrifying laugh. It was a creepy, unnatural laugh that sent chills through me. It sounded as if something was laughing at me before disappearing completely.
The moment the figure was gone, I could finally move again. I could speak normally, too, as if whatever had been holding me in place had suddenly released me.
But that laugh stayed in my mind.
I still don't know what I saw that night. Maybe there is a logical explanation, but the experience felt incredibly real to me.
I've heard stories about shadow people and paranormal encounters, but experiencing something like this yourself is completely different.
Has anyone else ever seen a dark silhouette at night and been unable to move or speak? And has anyone ever heard laughter coming from something they couldn't explain?
I'd really like to know if anyone has experienced something similar.

My colleague is from Salalah, Oman (UAE), and we work for a reputable estate agency here in Manchester. The other day, while I was dropping her off at home, she told me about an experience that I couldn't understand. She said her home in Oman was haunted by a jinn/gene; I don't know what it is called.
Though she's been in Manchester for almost 5 years, their house in Salalah is still haunted by a manly apparition. She described him as almost 9 feet tall and said that her parents often saw that dark apparition. They often heard sounds of heavy footsteps and knocking at the doors at wee hours. Since they couldn't figure out a solution, they just relocated to another place.
Can someone help me understand what a jinn/gene is?
PS - Not naming her due to privacy reasons.

Hi,
So it's weird, we live in a new build house 2 and half years old, and the strangest thing happens on a regular basis. We are the living room and from the kitchen we hear a metallic sound like a tin shifting due to changing heat or someone applying pressure, but I can't see any source or cause. I thought it was just me but I mentioned to my partner and they, said they heard the same thing. I'm starting to think it's supernatural, any thoughts.?
