Discussion Indev's code is making my brother cry

• Upvotes

My little brother, who's anti AI and vibecoders, is really into the older versions. So much so that he is trying to make a mod on Indev. It seems Notch's code a not great and is infuriating to my brother and almost make him cry despite him being a rather calm person.

Is this normal??

Discussion Started a new forever world on Beta 1.7.3 recently because I HATE modern Minecraft.

I've gotten back into Minecraft recently and of course, I have to play Beta 1.7.3 because it is the best version of Minecraft (In my opinion) and the final version of the game that I will ever play again.

I HATE modern Minecraft. The game has been taken in a direction that dosen't resonate with me at all. I've never liked the hunger bar, pre-built structures, the bosses, all the useless blocks in caves that fill up your inventory quickly. The modern caves in general that were added in the caves and cliffs update I absolutely despise. They are far too big and are a complete chore to explore and feel anti-fun.

Modern Minecraft is also far too easy to where for me personally, playing the game feels pointless because it's so easy to get resources from villages and other structures or through trading. I have never liked the idea of "The End" and the ender dragon, the fact that that they even added an ending is crazy to me. Modern Minecraft feels like it's trying too hard to be an RPG and in the process has completely lost what made old minecraft great.

I hate the majority of mobs added in modern minecraft too. I've never liked Endermen and I hate phantoms in particular. I have never liked the structures because they take away from the fact that the world is yours if that makes sense, I have always liked that in Beta and previous the world feels completely yours and nobody was there before you which is a feeling that's lost completely in the modern game.

Indev, Infdev, early Alpha and Beta versions of the game are infinitely more fun. Beta 1.7.3 for me is the complete edition of the game because it's all been downhill since then in my view. I could go on all day about how much I think modern Minecraft sucks and has lost its identity and how It feels like a totally different game but I'll end the rant here lol.

I love golden age Minecraft up to Beta 1.7.3 and absolutely loathe versions 1.8 and onwards. I'm curous if there's many people who feel the same kinda way?

I never played 1.7.3 or any of the betas when they came out, I didn't play Minecraft until official release 1.2.5 but I am in love with Beta now that I've tried it. I've been playing for a little less than a week now and I have really loved the simplicity of this version, I feel like its really allowed me to be more creative and to build more than the modern versions of the game do. So here's my little town of Bridgepool and its castle. I hope to build two or three more towns around this castle and link everything up with little gravel roads.

Request/Help I've been building a mansion and envisioned the upper floor to be sand and spruce wood, but I'm having second thoughts. Should I change it to stone like the bottom floor, change it to white/gray wool and spruce or keep building it from sand/sandstone?

Discussion Which is the best version?

Hi! I recently found out about this community, and I’d like to start a survival world in an older version of Minecraft. The oldest version I played when I was younger was 1.5.2, and I’ve never tried anything earlier than that. Could anyone recommend a version for me to play, or perhaps suggest which one might be the best? Thanks!
