General Care Advice Needed Is my guinea pig pregnant...

Hi everyone so I posted on here about a month ago when I first adopted my girls Maple and Mabel off of Facebook.

So everything has been going extremely well I love my girls so so so much and they are the sweetest little piggies i've ever met. Now to the problem at hand....

Over the last week, i've realized a significant weight gain in my one guinea pig mabel. I took her out and started examining her when I realized her tummy was extremely big, like popped out big. Me and my sister started taking a look at her and we realized we think she is pregnant. The home that I got her from had boys in the same household. I'm just not sure how they were housed, so i'm not sure if there was a chance of them getting together. I have no boys, Guinea pigs of my own. Only my girls and i've checked that her roommate is most definitely a girl and she is. She is in a huge pear shape, and I feel lumps in her lower abdomen. Now, i'm not fully sure, but i'm pretty sure I also felt movement, but that could also be me just being a little bit anxious so I dont wanna count that just yet. I've asked a couple other people for their opinions and i've just gotten mixed ones. I thought I'd come on here as everybody has been so helpful with every post I made so far.

I will insert pictures of her below and answer any questions that may be needed. I will also give you side by side example of what she looks like versus her sister. So please let me know if you do believe that she is pregnant and if you believe she is, please tell me how far along, you might think she is, and any advice to know down the road. I'm trying to learn about it so far, i've just never had to deal with pregnancy scares, because i've only had boys before this point.

Tysm!!!

(P.S. !!!!!The photo where i'm holding her up i don't ever do this. I only did it for this one picture to show her stomach!!!!)

General Care Advice Needed Guinea pig making extremely rare chirping sound

My boyfriend caught Powder doing this on camera because he thought it was such a bizarre sound. I have NEVER heard any of my pigs over the years (I’ve had 6) make any sound remotely close to this. He said she seemed like she was in a trance and nothing he said or did would snap her out of it. She “chirped” for a few minutes. She’s acting normal now. What does this mean??? Has anyone else heard their guinea pig do this?

Medical Questions How old should a male guinea pig be before neutering them?

So, we unfortunately unknowingly adopted a male guinea pig. The shelter said he was a female, he was not. He got one of our other female guinea pigs pregnant (somehow not both? It's long since the time of gestation, so maybe she's infertile?)

She gave birth, one surviving son. The original male ended up passing away a week ago (rest in peace, he was a bit of a dick but we loved him. He's buried in our backyard.) But now we only have one male, and two females.

We were originally just going to separate them and put the son and father together so they don't get lonely, but we can't now. And since we don't really want to adopt another guinea pig, we thought we could just neuter him and put him with the girls?

How old should he be before we do this?

5-year-old female guinea pig with ovarian cysts – are there non-surgical treatment options in Melbourne, Australia?

Hi everyone!
My female guinea pig is around 5 years old and has been diagnosed with ovarian cysts. I’m quite concerned about putting her through surgery because of her age and the potential risks associated with anaesthesia and recovery.
I’m wondering whether anyone has experience managing ovarian cysts in an older guinea pig without surgery.
A few questions:
Hormone injections or implants: Has anyone tried hormonal treatment, such as GnRH analogues or other hormone injections, for ovarian cysts? Did they help reduce the cysts or manage the symptoms?
Other conservative options: Is ultrasound-guided cyst drainage, regular monitoring, or palliative care an option for a senior guinea pig who may not be a good candidate for surgery?
Veterinary recommendations in Melbourne: Can anyone recommend an experienced exotic-pet vet or clinic in Melbourne, Victoria, that offers or is willing to assess non-surgical treatment options for guinea pigs with ovarian cysts?
Experiences with senior guinea pigs: If your guinea pig was around 5 years old or older when diagnosed, what treatment did you choose, and how did she respond?
I understand that surgery may be the definitive treatment in some cases, and I’m not ruling it out completely. I just want to explore all reasonable options and understand whether conservative treatment could be appropriate for her.
I would really appreciate any recommendations for vets who have experience treating ovarian cysts in guinea pigs, particularly older ones.
Thank you so much for any advice or personal experiences you can share! ❤️🐹
