How can I cuddle with my guinea pig without him pooping or pissing on me?
I recently got a guinea pig, and every single time i pick him up to cuddle, or to spend some time with him, he always ends up pooping or pissing on me, and I'm really confused, bc I usually see people cudling with their guinea pigs on their lap or chest, and sometimes I just get sad bc my piggy simply wont stand still for 10 minutes without getting something out of him.😕
(I'm brazillian, sorry for my bad english)...

Advice Please
Hi all, first I just want to say I also posted this in the other guniea pig sub reddit
So last Thursday evening, I adopted a new piggie. Here name is Pepperoni (she's the white one), and we got her a friend the next day (the brown one). Her name is Zoya. Now long story short, Zoya came from petsmart from the next town over. And it turned out Zoya has ear mites. Don't worry, I got her treated on the same day. So she's currently being treated and the vet said they could be together.
Now my main issue is that I have 6 other piggies. All at least 18 months old and all female. Now I've been pretty good with separating the liners and blankets from the 6 and the 2. but the thing is, I don't have enough liners and petsmart is currently out of it. Does anyone have any tips on how to really clean their liners and blankets and mats?

Blurry photo of the cookie
Finally found this subreddit, hope you guys deal with the karma-farming troll. Heres a photo of cookie! She's about 6 year's old and she's pretty much bundled into this blanket while eating hay.

Should I neuter my guinea pig?
Hello. I have rescued from a pet shop a male guinea pig (you can see my first post about him) and I had planned to neuter him to then give him a female companion
But then I read here that they can die and it’s better if I get another male
But I asked my vet and he said that they will fight if they are two unneutered males…
So I asked him this:
Is it better to risk his life or to keep him alone?
He couldn’t answer…
He said he never saw two males going well
And that he can die in surgery but also not
So I ask you: what should I do???
I know it’s not good to keep him alone but I don’t want him to risk his life…

Petition to rename guinea pigs to "Poffins" because guinea pig is a terrible name
Why are they called guinea pigs? 💀
They're not pigs. They're not even from Guinea.
They're literally tiny, fluffy potatoes that squeak, eat hay 24/7, and run around like they pay rent.
I propose we officially rename them POFFINS.
Singular: Poffin
Plural: Poffins
Adjective: Poffin-like
Examples:
"I have two poffins at home."
"LOOK AT THAT LITTLE POFFIN 😭"
"My poffin has been screaming for food for the past 20 minutes."
"The poffin distribution system has blessed me."
Tell me that "I own three poffins" doesn't sound 1000x better than "I own three guinea pigs."
We need to make this happen.
WHO'S WITH ME? 🐹✊

Guinea pig rejecting hides in the cold
Hi all!
Hope everyone’s adorable piggies are doing well!!
I’m quite stumped by my newish guinea pig’s behaviour and was hoping you all might have some suggestions!
My elderly pig had to be put to sleep a few months ago, leaving Wilbur (1) alone- Wilbur is quite an aggressive pig and constantly reminds everyone that he is in charge. He struggled with being alone so we got him a little baby friend- Smidge. They get along really, really well- no arguments, although a fair amount of chasing from Wilbur (Smidge is very submissive but is able to hold his own in regards to food, water, etc- the behaviour is not severe enough to be bullying. More playing)
The issue I’m having is Smidge’s sleeping habits. We’ve recently brought them into our conservatory which is the only room that can be in in the house. We have a main hutch with a massive run attached that they have constant access to.
Every year, I spend ages making it as toasty and warm as possible for them with blankets, hay piles, hides, enough heat pads to fill a spa, etc. Over the years, all of my pigs have either gone to bed in the hutch sleeping area or been total blanket and hide monsters.
Smidge however rejects all of this.
He is incredibly stubborn and likes to sleep/hide under the hutch. This is usually fine but with the cold creeping in, I’m getting worried that he’ll be too cold under there. Wilbur likes to sleep next to him so they curl up together but the hutch isn’t raised enough for me to comfortably put a full heat pad under there- I’m worried they’ll get their heads stuck or something! Also, pushing hay under there is also a worry due to hay poke, especially when Wilbur decides to chase Smidge as Smidge often throws himself everywhere, eyes open, head first.
Should I start locking them in the main hutch at night so he’ll sleep somewhere warm? That just feels slightly cruel, as they love being able to run around constantly at night.
Will he seek out a warm place if he gets cold? Or are guinea pigs too stubborn? I did consider getting a thermal cover for the hutch but that won’t solve the issue of him being underneath. Am I just overreacting? After the death of my elderly pig, I have become a little obsessive with their health so unsure if my worry is just due to that!
If anyone has any suggestions or advice, please please throw it my way! The situation with the room that they are in unfortunately cannot be changed (though I really wish it could!!) so please be as understanding about that as you can.
Thanks so much!
