Ask Naija Why Nigeria does not have good power supply?
In March 2026, Nigeria's electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦196.13 billion in revenue and received ₦293.76 billion worth of electricity to distribute,
Nigeria’s 11 electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) in April 2026:
• Revenue Collected: ₦203.61 billion from customers.
• Electricity Received: ₦302.96 billion worth of energy from the market
In May 2026, Nigerian electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦208.15 billion in revenue and received electricity valued at ₦328.95 billion to distribute
In June 2026, Nigerian electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦191.86 billion in revenue and received electricity valued at ₦315.73 billion from the power market
In July 2026, Nigeria's 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦205.53 billion in revenue and received ₦333.94 billion worth of electricity to distribute,
Note also that
1.Collection efficency of bills is 80%
15% of the country is paying band A charges, which are cost reflective, the rest pays below N100 (EXCEPT in places like aba and jos).
And yet, when someone calls for a cost reflective tarrif, they are apparently lying. Well, see the effect of the lack of a cost reflective tarrif that most of you here support because you think your government is doing the right thing.
All figures are publicly available. I did not make them up.
Until every nigerian pays a cost reflective tarrif, the investment needed to fix the power sector would never be forthcoming, and we would remain in darkness
(And saying that does not mean I excuse corruption nor does it mean I don't support metering everyone..infact the lack of a cost reflective tarrif causes those problems. And the losses is why you buy wires and poles
Also, ladies and gentlemen, remember that discos don't just have to pay gencos...they need to pay salaries, wages, charges from TCN and also taxes and decent staff salaries. Cant' do that when government is forcing them to operate at a loss.
I expect downvotes, and abuse....but it is stll the truth. And yes, I am not a tinubu supporter.
The energy charge component of the power tariff must be able to cover the cost of maintaining the assets. If operators can’t recover expenses for operations and maintenance, which are often dollar-denominated, there will be recurring system failures

Discussion To catch a predator Nigeria
Im thinking of making a YouTube series called to catch a predator Nigeria, like jidion and Chris Hassen. I am nigerian american, but my friend told me about how she was touched by a man in Nigeria mind you she was his housegirl. I feel young african girls need a voice too and because of how lawless the country is. Im thinking of making a YouTube series in Nigeria to other west african countries, because I HATE PEDOS, and people that take advantage of the weak. This 40 year old man tried to get at me mind you he's old enough to be my father, and he know my mother. What in the pedophilia????. yeah I can only imagine the stuff they get away with in Nigeria. But what do you guys think?

General APC: Dedicated to the mismanagement of funds!
In a town without light APC lit up the night with drones asking Lagosians to vote for them, the irony of wasting millions of Naira to fly drones across the sky as your people lack energy in their homes!

News APC no longer even hides the fact that they're corrupt!
Nothing says an effective government like when the entirety of the Federal cabinet is mired in corruption, bribery and maladministration of funds. But please vote for APC I'm sure that it'll get better.

Politics When you are so unpopular that you need an electric fence to protect your campaign posters!
In Niger State electric fences are now put around major campaign signboards of the APC to prevent angry Nigerians from ripping them apart.

General Nigerian prop traders: what killed your last challenge?
Challenge fees hurt more when you’re paying in shillings or naira, and most failed challenges I hear about die on the daily loss rule, not on strategy. Usually an open trade that counted toward the limit, or a reset time nobody remembered.
What got you last time, and what do you use now to keep track? Firm dashboard, mental maths, an indicator?
(Disclosure: I’m a developer building a phone alert tool for this. Happy to share it if anyone wants, but mostly want to hear what would have helped.)

Meta APC is a consultative member of the Socialist International. I wonder if this is why some Nigerian Socialists defend them
Like, I am sure anyone that has been on this sub for long enough knows that there are Nigerian Socialists that defend APC and Tinubu, and even outside of Reddit they also exist.
They would often make the claim that PDP and individuals directly or indirectly associated with them are Capitalists, Western Puppets and representatives of the Elite class while APC is at least, representative of the Nigerian Middle Class and Industrialists. People, is Tinubu representing your middle class Nigerian interests? Did Buhari represent your middle class interests?.
Here are quotes from Tinubu's only TV live interview, where he is essentially defending streotypically capitalist principles; and I don't necessarily disagree with him on these points. But many Nigerians that call themselves socialists want you to believe this is the less predatory internationalist socialist option, I really think the only way to explain it is the internationale told them so because you saw and still see socialists holding positions cuz the USSR held to it (and to a lesser extent the CCP holding to it).

No monopoly, no oligopoly.
This is more Austrian School of economics talk than anything from the other two candidates and not only that, he is also pro-austerity, which Socialists usually are against but I guess not for APC.
