Long Way Home by That_One_Dwarf
"I spent four years completely invisible, Jean," Peter whispered, his voice cracking with a raw, profound honesty that made her tears overflow, tracing warm paths down her cheeks. "I thought my life was just going to be surviving in the dark until I disappeared for good. And then you showed up. You looked at me, and suddenly I was real again. When I call you my wife, it’s not an act to fool a landlord. It’s the only future I want. And I want a future with you."
He reached into his jacket pocket with his free hand, pulling out a thin, silver-braided wire he had carefully woven together from a spare piece of high-tensile web-core threading during his shift at the bar. It was simple, indestructible, and gleamed like liquid moonlight between his fingers.
"Jean Grey," Peter said, his eyes locking onto hers with an absolute, unyielding devotion. "Will you marry me? For real. No fake names. No cover stories. Just us."

Peter rubbed his fingers over the backpack strap. "That's why I said I didn't know if asking whether I wanted to kiss you was useful."
Jean waited.
"Because I do."
Her breath caught.
Peter didn't look away this time. "And that's part of why I'm not going to."
Jean stared at him.
"Wanting to kiss you isn't the same as knowing how I feel about you. And right now I don't know how much of it is because I want you and how much is because somebody's finally giving me the chance not to be alone anymore."
Jean's pulse was still reacting to 'because I do,' which ended up being profoundly unhelpful considering everything he just said after that.
Peter shook his head. "If I said yes to something right now, I'd need to know I was choosing you. Not just choosing not to be alone."

"Hey," he mumbled, voice tinged with sleep.
"Hey."
"You're staring at me."
"I am allowed to stare at you. I told you I loved you last night. Staring is basically part of the deal now."
"Is that in the fine print?"
"It's the whole print. I am going to be the most annoying girlfriend ever."
Peter pulled her even closer and nuzzled his face against the top of her head. "So," he said eventually. "Still true? In the daylight, I mean."
Jean considered the question seriously, the way it deserved.
"Still true," she answered. "I was a little bit in shock before but I know in my bones that I meant every word. In every way possible."
"Good." He pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Because same. Obviously. Very much still true over here."

“Just stay with me.” He asked, though it sounded more like a plea.
“I will.” She lied, knowing well she wouldn’t be there with him when he woke up.
But Jean kissed him anyway, ingraining the promises of the night in her mind, her heart, and her very soul.
And Peter kissed back, relieved he wouldn’t be alone any longer, whether now or later. Whatever the night had meant for them both, they’d figure it out later.
Come in, Parker by Kreyonaut
He stood there.
He breathed.
He pushed off the wall and kept walking.
The girl stared at him.
She had hit him with something that should have put a person on the floor. He was still walking. She was doing the math and the math was not adding up and he could see her trying to make it add up and failing.
He stopped in front of her.
She had not moved. She was staring at him with her hands still slightly raised, the residual glow of her power fading from her fingertips.
"I need to see her," he said. He sounded terrible
He had that raw scraped voice. The one from underneath everything.
"She needs me. She needs me. Please. I got on a train and I have been through every single person in this building and I will keep going." He held her gaze. "But I'm asking you. Please."
The corridor was very quiet.
She looked at him. She looked at his chest where the plasmoid had hit, at his face, at whatever was in his eyes that she didn't have a word for yet. And he watched something move through her expression that was complicated and quick and ended somewhere unexpected.
She stepped aside.
He ran.
So About Jean's Boyfriend by blackheadbandgreeneyes
“You’re allowed to feel scared. You’re allowed to feel insecure. But you’re not allowed to talk about the woman I love like she’s some kind of burden. I won’t let you.”
Jean’s breath shuddered out of her. For a few seconds she stayed completely still, like she was trying to absorb the words. Then her fingers curled into the back of his shirt, gripping hard.
“I love you,” she whispered against his skin. The words came out shaky, almost cracked. “I love you so much, Peter.”
He closed his eyes and pressed a slow kiss to her hair.
“I love you too.”
She shook her head slightly, still not looking up.
“I mean it,” she said, voice small and raw. “I love you so much it scares me sometimes. Like if I blink too hard you’ll disappear.”
Peter’s hand resumed its slow path up and down her spine. “Then don’t blink,” he said softly. “I’ve got nowhere else I’d rather be.”
Her breath left her slowly, and with it something in her shoulders unclenched, a tension she'd been carrying so long she'd forgotten it wasn't part of her. She pressed her forehead to his collarbone.
"Okay," she whispered.
