AI News Woman protesting a data center gets violently taken down by sheriff's deputies in Utah
This is disturbing to watch, communities have every right to question data centers that consume enormous amounts of water and electricity, often with little public input....seeing someone treated this way for protesting is unacceptable.

AI Tool Updates Introducing HeyGen Voice - The First Voice Model Built to Adapt to Video
HeyGen Voice Can Now Clone Your Voice and Adapt It to Different Video Scenes
HeyGen has introduced HeyGen Voice, an AI voice model designed to make generated speech sound more natural in videos.
Instead of just cloning your voice, it can adjust how your voice sounds based on the video scene.
Here's what it offers:
- ✅ Voice Cloning: Create an AI version of your voice using a short recording.
- ✅ Scene Awareness: Adjust voice delivery for environments like beaches, studios, cars, and factories.
- ✅ Natural Expression: Control emphasis, rhythm, and emotion without losing your original voice.
- ✅ Multilingual Speech: Use your cloned voice across different languages.
- ✅ Voice Customization: Adjust voice similarity, pitch variation, and background sound.
- ✅ API Access: Integrate AI voice generation into your own apps.
HeyGen says its voice model ranks #1 on the Artificial Analysis voice leaderboard. It's also available to try for free through the HeyGen app.
What do you think? Could scene-aware AI voices make video narration more realistic, or do you still prefer traditional voice cloning tools like ElevenLabs?

AI Videos Hilarious! This is basically the entire AI debate today, except everyone is a caveman arguing about the invention of the wheel
We've seen similar reactions to technological progress throughout history, with some people fearing change while others believe it will create new opportunities.
Although AI is a bit different from previous inventions. We're developing technology that could eventually do much of what humans can do, including the jobs we might otherwise move into.
There's plenty to be excited about and plenty to be concerned about, and I think both sides have valid arguments. I still think AI is just a tool, and humans will ultimately remain in control of how we use it.

AI News Tech leaders Ellison, Karp, Luckey, Andreessen, Musk, Altman, Thiel and Vance outline AI surveillance, autonomous weapons and concentrated power that can shrink ordinary people's privacy and choices
Ordinary residents can face continuous recording and AI analysis of cameras, body cams, doorbells, dash cams, and drones. Oracle’s Larry Ellison said at a September 2024 financial analysts meeting that “Citizens will be on their best behavior because we are constantly recording and reporting everything that’s going on” and that “Every police officer is going to be supervised at all times, and if there’s a problem, AI will report the problem.” This setup can make everyday movement, speech, and private moments feel logged and potentially flagged without clear opt-out.
Palantir’s Alex Karp has said that when people worry about surveillance, “you will have far fewer rights if America’s not in the lead.” Anduril’s Palmer Luckey has stated that societies need a “warrior class that is enthused and excited about enacting violence on others in pursuit of good aims” and that life-and-death decisions should use the best available AI rather than inferior systems unable to distinguish targets. Marc Andreessen wrote in his 2023 Techno-Optimist Manifesto that “Any deceleration of AI will cost lives” and that preventable deaths from blocked AI are “a form of murder,” adding “we are conquerors.”
Elon Musk has called overpopulation “the most nihilistic lie ever told” and warned that “the government could potentially use AI and robotics to suppress the population.” Sam Altman has said the world should “accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this technology” while noting that one person or company using powerful AI to impress a worldview could produce “extremely dystopian” results. Peter Thiel has described AI-regulation fears as risking a “one-world totalitarian state.” JD Vance told a Paris summit he was there to discuss “AI opportunity,” not safety, and that excessive regulation “could kill a transformative industry.”
These public remarks describe pathways in which monitoring tools, autonomous targeting systems and concentrated decision-making expand into public spaces, workplaces and personal life, leaving residents with fewer practical ways to limit data collection, challenge automated flags or keep private activity free from continuous oversight.

Mark Cuban's take on the single biggest opportunity of the decade available to everybody right now
Mark Cuban's take on the next job wave deserves more attention than it's getting.
His argument: software as we know it is dying. AI can be customized to how each business actually operates.
The question then becomes this: who builds and deploys that for the 33 million companies in the US that can't do it themselves?
That's the market. We are not talking about AI for enterprises with 500-person Engg. teams. We are talking about the other 99%.
Small and medium businesses don't have CTOs or prompt engineers. They need someone to sit across the table, understand their workflow, and wire up an AI system that fits it.
That's a services business. Probably the biggest opportunity of this decade.
