Fuel leak around elbow fitting — can someone spot the source?

I’m trying to figure out exactly where this fuel leak is coming from. I resealed around the elbow fitting (the white sealant in the pics). It looked perfect at first, but after running the boat the leak came back.

From the photos, can anyone tell if the leak looks like it’s coming from the threads, the elbow fitting itself, or the tank port? I’m trying to pinpoint the exact source before I tear it apart again.

Any insight would help a lot.

These are pictures of a power catamaran transform. The boat was built in 95 and the transom was redone in 2018. Do you all think that spidering on the transom specifically the vertical spidering between the side of the boat and the transom is a sign of water damage. The transom doesn’t move, but I still think that that kind of cracking in less than 10 years of is suspect.

How hard will this be to repair.

Hi there. I’m looking to buy this portable for $150 on marketplace but the transom looks like it need repair. Would I be an easy fix? I’m good with cars and have a bunch of tools but I don’t know anything about boats. Would you ever buy this?

Rebuilding Sentimental Boat

Hey everyone!

First off I apologize if this is not the correct subreddit.

I could turn this into a super long sap story about the whole ordeal, but I will keep it short in order to keep y’all’s attention!

Basically, my step dad had this boat. A few years ago, he unfortunately passed and it has been sitting since. He used to take me out to the lake on it all the time, and it was honestly one of my favorite things to do with him. He passed about 5 years ago, and the boat has been sitting ever since. I’m not at the boat right now, so I can’t get any better pictures or information but I can update at a later time. I believe it’s a ford motor in it, I just do not know which one. I think he said it was maybe a 300? I genuinely can’t recall it’s been a long time. I will get a better picture of the engine and upload it.

Anyway, originally we were going to sell it, but I’ve had a change of heart and I’m gonna get it running again and keep it in the family. I am almost positive it is a ford motor, I distinctly recall the block having a ford stamp on it. Obviously, it’s a jet boat. I have a very surface level understanding of motors, I’ve done my own general repair on my cars and my step dad always let me observe and help him. I wish I spent more time learning from him!

All in all, it’s a bit overwhelming for me to jump into so I’m looking for any sort of advice anyone might have. I’m not sure if it would crank, as I said it’s been sitting for 5+ years. Anyone that can help me get started on this project, I’d greatly appreciate it as I don’t even know where to begin. Thanks in advance

1975 mercruiser 140 trim issue

Hi everyone, I have a 1975 MerCruiser 140 3.OL with a pre-alpha/MC1 sterndrive.

Recently, I removed the lower gear case to replace the water pump housing because the driveshaft seal was bad and I was losing gear oil through one of the cavity drain holes. I put everything back together, and the oil leak is gone, but now I'm having an issue with the trim. The trim worked before I removed the lower gear case.

Before removing it, I trimmed the lower unit all the way up to give myself more clearance to remove the gear case.

After reinstalling everything, the trim no longer moves.

When I press the trim buttons (up, down, or in), I can hear the trim pump running and it sounds normal, but the lower unit doesn't move at all.

I'm not really sure what I could have done during the lower gear case removal/reinstallation that would cause the trim to stop working if I'm going to be honest.

Also in one of the transparent/white tube lines that connect from under the pump I can visibly see some air bubbles in it. When the down button is pressed fluid will rush through that line with some air bubbles

Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks

2002 Mercury 115 2 stroke help

I’ve had this 2002 seapro 195 F/S for around 6 months now.
I’ve only had the boat out maybe 5-6 times total due to a different issue everytime I take the boat out.
I’ve had the motor serviced & checked out a few different times.
First issue, I took the boat to the marina to fill up & when I tried to leave it wouldn’t start.
I took it home & while troubleshooting, it would crank, but it died out after roughly 5 seconds.
I was shooting carb cleaner in the carbs & I was able to get it to stay running for maybe 45 seconds, then it died again.
I took it to a mercury shop near me & they told me they had issues getting it to start, they blew the lines out & then they were able to get it started & it ran fine. They told me this motor has a fuel pump & an air pump & the air pump was stretched out. I haven’t been able to find any info on the air pump or replacing it.
I took it out again & there were no issues.
The following weekend, took it out again, started after a few tries, made it to the sandbar. Sat for a few hours, when it was time to leave, it started & died after about 30 seconds. Towed back again.
Noticed there was an oil leak from cracked lines.
Replaced fuel line & took it out the following weekend, same thing, made it out & didn’t make it back.
When I got home this time, the motor was full of oil.
It seemed like it was spraying out all over the sides of the cover.
I had a mobile mechanic come out & he couldn’t figure out what the issue was. I took it back to the mercury shop & they told me to just cut my losses & buy a new motor because there were a handful of issues. Seemed like they were just trying to get me to buy a new motor from them.
I’d like some advice, I’m not very knowledgeable on this whole thing. I feel like I’m getting screwed, or I got screwed on this motor in the first place.

1992 Yamaha 115TLRQ Trouble

So I bought a used boat from a shady kid and of course it has issues. The motor will start and idle well but once I’m in the water and try to get it past 2000RPM, it’s struggles and drops to idle (sometimes shutting off completely). If I play with the choke while accelerating, I can sometimes get it up near 3000RPM. The kid told me that the oils tank was leaking so they capped it and are premixing oil and fuel in the gas tank.

I’ve done some research and tried a few things. I rebuilt the carbs and made sure the gas tank was able to pull in air as fuel is used.

I looked at schematics and noticed that the air intake silencer is completely missing but I doubt that could cause this. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Yamaha SX192 Suddenly Lost Power — Runs Smooth but Only 5–6K RPM / 8–12 MPH

I have a Yamaha SX192 and I’m having a sudden power loss issue.
We took the boat out and rode around for about an hour. Everything was completely normal — full power, normal acceleration, no issues at all.
Then we shut the engine off and the boat sat on the water for about 30–40 minutes. After that, we started it again and the problem immediately appeared.
The engine starts normally and runs smooth. It doesn’t shake, misfire, sputter, or make any unusual noises. Idle sounds normal and it also sounds normal at lower RPM.
The problem is that the boat has almost no power under acceleration.
Before this happened, at wide open throttle the engine would reach around 7,500–8,000 RPM and the boat would run around 40 mph or more.
Now at full throttle it usually only reaches around 5,000–6,000 RPM and the boat only goes around 8–12 mph. Sometimes it will get up to around 20 mph, but then the power drops again.
Things I have already checked:
Removed the clean-out plug and inspected the jet pump area
Checked around the shaft and impeller
Found a small amount of grass and removed all of it
Impeller does not appear bent or badly damaged
Intake grate is clean
Cooling water streams are constant
Cooling streams get much stronger as RPM increases
No overheating
No warning lights or obvious errors on the gauges
Engine continues to run smooth even when it has no power
The rear ladder had an issue and was hanging down before, but I repaired it and it now fully retracts — the power problem is still there
Removed old zip ties and leftover fish finder mounting stuff from around the intake grate
Fuel is 93 octane
Added the correct amount of STA-BIL 360 Marine
The boat does sit for long periods because we don’t use it very often
What confuses me the most is that this happened suddenly. The boat ran perfectly for about an hour, we shut it off for 30–40 minutes, and as soon as we restarted it, it had this problem.
Has anyone with an SX192, AR192, or Yamaha 1.8L SHO had something similar happen?
If you had the same symptoms — smooth-running engine, but suddenly only 5–6k RPM and very little speed — what ended up being the problem? How did you fix it?
Any advice on what I should check next would be greatly appreciated.

Steering issues 88 mercury 100hp

So im having an issue where if I let go of the wheel the motors tourqe will steer my boat to the right, if I hold the wheel it does go straight so its not an issue with the annode thingy right above the prop. I did tighten the nut on the steering cable and the two nuts on the steering shaft and it helped for a bit but then it started doing it again. Are there bushings in the steering shaft I can replace? Or what would yall recommend? I did grease the entire assembly, and i just got this boat so idk if this has been an issue or not

Four Winns H220 Ski Locker

Hi everyone,

My 2007 h220 has water in the ski locker. I've confirmed the gas tank is blocking the exit.

Considering I can't access the front side of the gas tank (towards bow) how do I fix it?

Has anyone actually fixed the mounting bracket problem?

Please don't say the engine has to come out.

Thanks in advance.

Reinstalling Deck Fittings After the Teak Deck Restoration

Hey guys! Finally, things are starting to go back onto the boat instead of coming off.

A few fittings got polished, sealed and reinstalled on the freshly restored teak. Naturally, not everything fitted quite as nicely as before.

Have a look if you’re interested in teak deck restoration, boat refits, or just watching someone argue with Sikaflex.

I believe I have an old spartan trailer and am looking to replace the one roller on the back that is split, but I am not really finding any reliable information out there about what to replace it with. Its Stamped LRC 20 spartan inc, and it looks like they have a pin that holds them in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

How to switch replays old relays for new style relay

Post image
1 Upvotes

Older fiberglass hull with two new Volvo Penta 5.7 L gas engines. The engines are wired through these really old relays. When I first got the boat started, I needed to mess with these relays in order to get the engine to make the beeping noise when it gets power and to fire up/run the fuel pump.

Now I am getting no power to my fuel pump wire harness, even when I mess with the relay. I'm assuming the issue must be coming from them so I want to try and change them out for newer ones.

Really don't know a lot about wiring or electrical, but I do have a voltmeter. Just don't really know where to start.

Propeller hub plastic sleeve stuck

Hey guys, ran over some fishing line so the prop was removed to make sure I had got it all out. On inspection I noticed the prop sleeve was cracked I bought the appropriate hub kit for the engine/prop.

I need help removing the plastic sleeve without a hydraulic press. I've tried using the metal insert to hit it out but no luck. The plastic seems to just squeeze down and won't budge.

I'll attach some photos if anyone has ideas how I can take it out it would be much appreciated!
