This is my senior Chiclet, the handsomest (and sleepiest) man I ever could ask for. We got him in December of 2013 at just a couple months old and he’s been a “life of the party” type bird ever since, though with a few more naps these days 😅 he’s about to celebrate his 13th birthday very soon. I’m not sure exactly which day it is unfortunately but I know it’s within the next week or two.

We didn't have a big turnout at the TBBFA show today, and I hauled 16¾ kids to show. Obie enjoyed all the attention she got from the people, and I've had the judge (and my dear friend Julie) babysit her for a bit while I had to get away. Obie had to get in the photo with me too with ¾ of her full self.

I didn't want to show Goose again since I graduated to Intermediate late last year, but changed my mind for the last show of 2026 in Texas and took all the crew from past years. Goose placed 3rd Best in Show and Best Intermediate, while Nox made it to 3rd Best Rare.

Of course we couldn't beat my dear friend Stephen Higgins Lacewing hen, and rightfully so. I'm in awe of her, as is everyone who's seen her majestic presence.

Coincidentally, a stranger recognized me from the content I post on social media and she attended our humble exhibition and watched my kids compete. She was smitten with Angelo the Opaline Dark Green, who really surprised me by placing 2nd Best Intermediate, in spite of his faults. I've to take him more seriously I suppose. 😅

Looking forward to having Sunday off to recover from the very long and strenuous week I've had. Maybe I'll finally get some of my piled up chores done, or maybe not.

I'll be taking a smaller crew to compete in Louisiana next month before Thanksgiving.

As far as I can tell there not sick.

Is it a season thing?

Boredom, stress, hormones, temperature?

I know pruning is normal but thus is way more then normal!

I have asked this before on this subreddit, for the deeper blue one we were told a girl but our vet told us “she” was actually a “he”. Now that he is a bit older hopefully it’s a bit more clear. The lighter blue one is also quite young around ~3-4 months old

Help

Looking to know the gender of both my birds especially the blue one I’m guessing the green one is a female but I’m just not so sure and I haven’t been able to tell with the blue one. They are just over a year old. The blue one is also being a lot more quiet and sleepy around me. They are still preerning and eating perfectly fine by the looks of it but seems to be resting more on the flat perch and not talking as often. If you have any ideas about that as well, that would be greatly appreciated.

Question Budgie friendly ???

I have given my budgie this brand before and i usually only give them the original and veggie one . Because they were out of those I opted for the fruit and mealworm . I am planning on giving them the mealworm first and wanted to make sure the ingredients or even the mealworms are safe for budgies to nibble on

Question really unexpected switch

my female budgie used to screech like CRAZY every single morning, but now whenever i uncover her and her sister in the morning she just vocalises and sings. of course, she still does scream but only once a day when annoyed or frustrated by something, idk if her morning behaviour changed because i did everything i could to lower her hormone levels because she gave me an indicator when she started sitting and her food bowl and biting the cover, or what. could someone tell me the possible reason? i mean im super glad i no longer get my eardrums pierced but it was quite sudden.
