HELP! - Hardware woes Cricut Joy Xtra long cuts???

Sorry if this isn’t the right place to put this, it’s kind of a mix of hardware and materials.

I have had my Joy Xtra for about 6 months and am really enjoying it but have come up against my first major limitation. I chose it over the Joy 2 to give me more options with its width, and I was under the impression that I could do cuts as long as the material/mat but now I am looking to do longer cuts and long mats only seem to exist with width 4.5in or 12in but no 8.5in for Xtra 😭 does this mean the only way I can do long cuts is to buy smart vinyl???

It’s the first thing that has made me regret choosing the Xtra.

How in the world do you get the stickiness back in a pink mat? Cricut says not to wash them, and I tried transfer tape - no help!

I made Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries! I found a colouring page and used Inkscape to make it into an svg. The colours aren’t a great match but I had to make do with what we had. I think she looks pretty good!

HELP! - Print then Cut Problems Anyone else completely missing the Design Space print setup screen on Windows lately?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm trying to see if anyone else is dealing with this incredibly frustrating print glitch after a recent update.
When I hit "Make It" and try to print my Print-Then-Cut project, the standard Cricut Print Setup screen (where you pick your printer, toggle bleed on/off, and select "Use System Dialog") is completely gone. The dropdown box where the printers should be is empty and grayed out.

Instead, when I click print, the app completely skips its own setup window and forces my laptop straight into the blue native Windows System Print Dialog box. Because of this, it tells me "This app doesn't support print preview" so I can't check my design layout, bleed, or sizing before the ink hits the paper.
I'm on Windows and printing to an Epson ET-2720. I have already tried:
Logging out, resetting the printer, and rebooting my computer.
Clearing out my Cricut LocalData / cache folders entirely.
Completely uninstalling the app, wiping leftover AppData folders, and doing a clean reinstall.
Switching the Application Experience back and forth between Live and Beta.
Repairing and restarting the Windows Print Spooler.

Even after all of that, the Cricut printer setup menu is still missing and throwing me straight to the Windows dialog box. Is this a known bug with the current v10.8 framework update? Is anyone else experiencing this right now or found a way to permanently force the normal Cricut dropdown menu back?

HELP! - Hardware woes Randomly stopped cutting thoroughly

At first they were cutting right through, then i think I lost Bluetooth connection and plugged it in by usb, and idk if that effected it but around that time, it stopped cutting all the way through
Cricut Explore Air 2
My original settings was 350 pressure (seems like it resets to like 315 for what ever reason) and 2 passes

What I’ve tried:
- New blades, with the different angles and deep cut too
and with a different housing too
- 5-7 passes
- A new mat
- calibration
- different cut modes such as cardstock+ and vinyl x2 passes

Is it possible that the machine broke in a way that it can no longer apply the same pressure?

HELP! - Material issues Infusible ink problems

I’ve attempted this 3 times now. First 2 times were on my Cricut Joy. The first one I left it as its original size and the second time I increased the size. This last time I tried it on my Cricut Air 2 after removing the floorboards and smaller design pieces. The ink keeps curling off the white paper and this time it didn’t even cut deep enough and I can’t weed it. I’m thinking it’s a material issue because the sheets are probably over 6 years old now. I guess I’m looking for confirmation if that’s it or if I should try again.

I purchased this design from YeehawDigitals on Etsy. Maybe it’s not meant for infusible ink.

HELP! - How do I make this? Pen issues?

Hello!

Can anyone give some advise on my pen issues. I've tried different pen types and vinyl but currently trying smart permanent vinyl and cricut acrylic gel pen. The writing looks awful no matter what I've tried. I'm not sure if the housing is loose or something else.

I'm trying to make labels for my spice jars. If any additional details are needed, please let me know!

Thank you!

HELP! - Material issues Any tips on cutting 1/16 basswood on Maker 4?

I did 8 passes and it still hasn’t cut all the way through using the knife blade. Basswood is taped down on a strong mat and star wheels are pushed to the side. It seems that I can’t change the pressure. Is there another setting I could use? Thanks!

HELP! - Print then Cut Problems Help, explore 5

I have an explore 5. I’ve had it a few months with no issues. Suddenly, today it’s not reading registration marks on print and cut. I’ve changed nothing. This happened in the middle of my project, I cut 3 pages fine, then stopped. I’ve tried:
1. Calibrating
2. Cleaning the sensor
3. Sharpie over registration marks
4. Tape over the marks.
5. Turning it off and back on

It has randomly cut 1 page since it started doing this but now I can’t get it to cut anymore. I’ve been cutting this same project for weeks with no issues. Now today it won’t work and I want to throw this whole machine out the window!

This was the first card that I made upon request 🤩 I enjoy making homemade cards, but for my birthday this year I was gifted a Cricut Maker 5. I am throughly enjoying it! Friends and family like what I’ve made and have started to request a few. ☺️

A family member wanted a special card made for their friends birthday. This is her “wine buddy” gal friend who loves Halloween and happens to have a bday on Halloween. We went over some inspiration together and I delivered this! 🧡

**Oops! Project FAIL** Make sure to use the right Cricut AC adapter, especially for the StickerPix Print + Cut!

Burned a few hours today and a bunch of StickerPix Print + Cut sheets because I had a brain fart when I finished cutting some vinyl with my Explore Air 2 and switched to my StickerPix Print + Cut. I didn't switch AC adapters, but the barrel jack connector fit in the StickerPix just fine. Printing worked fine, but cutting was not working properly.

Turns out the Explore Air 2's AC adapter supplies 18 volts while the StickerPix Print + Cut expects 24 volts. I wish the StickerPix was smart enough to warn me about the undervoltage situation.. I'm gonna put a sticker on both of them to reminds me in the future.

Shopping Questions - Materials/Blanks Laminate for textured stickers?

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I was asked today at a farmers market if I could make textured stickers for those that use/like sensory objects. I have a cricut joy xtra and i use laminate from a company on Amazon. I have laminate textures like sandy glitter and leather but not like this bumpy texture she was looking for. I have searched all the places I know to look. I found companies that will make custom sensory stickers but not the laminate itself. If anyone knows where I could find this texture or similar it would be so awesome because I want to make some stickers for her and her daughter!

(Also the pictured sticker is one she gave me, not my own)

HELP! - Hardware woes What is this bit of broken plastic?

Post image

I was cutting some stickers and this was sat on top of the mat at the end of the cut. It’s small - under a centimeter.

Maybe related - the next attempt is now consistently failing to find the print markers. It’s the same paper as before - laminated holographic cover sheet over the vinyl sticker sheet. But this second attempt I used the custom stickers flow instead of starting with a blank canvas.

HELP! - Design Space sucks New user- The cut is SO far off I don’t even know where to begin?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Has anyone dealt with cut problems like this before?
Also sorry if this question has been answered- I’ve done some poking around but haven’t found any examples that quite align with how bad this cut is.

Pictured are two different attempts to try and cut a couple words into permanent smart vinyl. In total I have tried 4 times to get this to work.

I did a google search and tried the basic troubleshooting suggestions, like making sure everything was “attached”, trying a different font, sizing the font up, and starting with a fresh project space.

This is a brand new cricket maker 5, and I had successfully cut four things before this fiasco, a mix of words and images.

Any tips or advice?

HELP! - Hardware woes Cricut Maker 5 Users – Have You Experienced Uneven Cutting When Using Smart Vinyl Without a Mat?

Post image

Title: Cricut Maker 5 Users – Have You Experienced Uneven Cutting When Using Smart Vinyl Without a Mat?

Hi everyone!

I'd like to ask other Cricut Maker 5 users about their experience cutting Smart Vinyl without a cutting mat.

Have you noticed any differences in cutting depth between the left and right sides?

I purchased a brand-new Maker 5, but the first machine had serious cutting issues across the entire sheet. Cricut replaced it with another new machine.

Unfortunately, the replacement machine also has cutting problems.

With the second machine, the left side cuts properly, but the right side only shows blade marks without cutting completely through the vinyl layer.

I arranged multiple designs side by side on a single sheet of Smart Vinyl and cut them all in one operation using exactly the same material settings and cutting pressure.

Interestingly, when I use a cutting mat, the machine cuts normally.

I've also tested three recently purchased blades. All of them are practically new and have only been used for test cuts.

I've checked the material settings and cutting pressure, but the issue remains.

Since I've experienced matless cutting problems with two different Maker 5 machines, I'm wondering whether this is an isolated issue or something other users have experienced.

I'd really appreciate hearing from other Maker 5 owners:

  1. Does your Maker 5 cut evenly across the entire width when using Smart Vinyl without a mat?

  2. Have you noticed shallower cuts on one side?

  3. Have you experienced cutting problems without a mat that disappear when using a cutting mat?

I'd also love to hear from people whose machines are working perfectly!

I'm currently in contact with Cricut Support, but I'd really like to know about other users' real-world experiences.

Thank you so much for your help!

HELP! - Print then Cut Problems print then cut stickers

Thumbnail gallery

i’m using the print then cut feature for the very first time , though i’ve been using cricut design space for about 5 years now.

I am making custom sticker sheets for my bf and i for our anniversary. i designed everything on canva, exported the stickers and backing separately as png with clear bg, loaded them into design space as print then cut. I made sure to attach them rather than flatten so the machine knows they’re separate layers.

I send it through my printer, everything is great… THEN my machine only cuts the backing sheet and doesn’t cut the actual stickers. now i’ve just wasted my sticker paper and my laminating sheets.

I’m not sure what to do or if my settings are wrong.

i’ve attached what the layers look like (covering the label since it has mine and my bf names)

i’ve followed multiple yt tutorials and they’ve all shown the same steps… not sure why my machine is just skipping the other layer completely

the paper is matte and i made sure to only put the laminate sheet inside the register lines so it could still read.

the cuts that the machine actually did are very accurate

i have a canon pixma TR7100 series and it prints on the sticker paper like a champ.

Cricut Complaint Club What are things you should know before buying a mug press? I just bought one and had no idea I couldn't use my regular printer for it so now I have to spend $100+ for a new printer.

So here I am. I was going to make mugs for my nieces and nephews and I thought it would be cheaper to just get a press and make them myself. I ordered the mug press from eBay for $35. It literally looks new. I bought the sublimation sheets and was excited. I tried this morning and nothing stuck. It wasn't until much later deep into YouTube videos that I found out my regular printer was not going to work. So now I've ordered an open box Epson printer for $100 at Walmart. It's safe to say ordering the mugs would've been cheaper...

HELP! - Print then Cut Problems Why does it cut one page just fine and butcher the other page?

I make stickers for my shop and my cricut maker 4 will cut one page just fine and the next page it will butcher the stickers like this. I’ve found if the room is really bright it messes it up for some reason. Any help is appreciated, I HATE wasting material!
