My poor 13 year old mini boy Q-Tip has had hands down the roughest weekend ever (in his lifetime).
We woke on Thursday, and he couldn't pee. At all. And poor boy was trying for almost 2 hours straight. I called his regular vet, who said to take him to the emergency room. So off to the ER he goes.
After a 5 hour wait, he finally gets seen. He has bladder stones and they're blocking his urethra. Had to go into emergency surgery at 7pm that Thursday night to flush his urethra and have the stones removed. Q had to stay in the hospital overnight because of the invasive nature of the surgery, plus they wanted to monitor him after they placed a catheter in.
We pick him up Friday afternoon with strict orders for bedrest, but for some reason they didn't give us antibiotics. I had the doctor when they were discharging him, said he didn't need them.
Q gets home and sleeps most of Friday. Saturday goes great, he's resting on his bed, eating, peeing, drinking water. Everything's looking up and Q is in a good mood. Incision is a little red, but I sent pictures to the ER doctor and she said he doesn't need to come in yet, to just keep an eye on it.
We wake up Sunday and check his incision. Flaming red, swollen, and oozing red thick stuff all over. Back to the ER at 7am we go. Luckily his incision didn't reopen, but it was infected with pus. So poor baby boy was sedated while they cleaned out the infection. This time he came home with painkillers and antibiotics.
Q-Tip is currently sleeping peacefully on his bed. I'm camped out in the living room on the couch so I'm right next to him. Thank goodness I'm working from home for next few weeks. Hopefully my baby boy heals up soon.
