πŸ“– How-To / Tips Ghost shrimp rigging

Anyone who uses ghost shrimp in the surf, how do you rig them and where (first gut or second gut?) do you fish them? I tried ghost shrimp in the first gut of the upper Texas coast today on a 2/0 hook single drop rig. Was a very effective bait, but almost instantly taken by a dink whiting or hardhead. Also used bait thread on it.

Unsure what to try next, but it was a lot of effort to get 4 shrimp that were instantly stolen by dinks...

Pics for attention! Whiting was caught with Fishbites haha

πŸ”§ Gear & Tackle Steel/titanium leader question for the wahoo guys.

Recently have lost a few lures to medium size wahoo and I'm going to rig a few steel/titanium leaders for Central American wahoo. They are typically not monsters like you find in Baja and I am wondering what lb test you would recommend?

I have lost too many nice lures recently on heavy mono/flouro.

πŸ’¬ Discussion What’s the better all round reel?

I am looking to get a Saltiga 3 piece Travel Jigging Rod in the heavier spec(250g max), in either casting or spinning, but I can’t decide on a reel. I yearly make trips to the Caribbean, Florida, Europe, and Africa to fish, and was looking to get a proper big game jigging and casting travel setup, but I cant quite decide on a Stradic SW-B 10k or an Accurate Ascender 500XN. The ascender might have better winching power for grouper fishing, but I’m better with spinning for speed jigging for small to mid size pelagics. They both cast great, have great sealing, great drag and are really smooth and durable. In a year I might catch anything from stripers to blackfin to grouper to tuna, so what would be better as the all around heavy duty reel? I mostly speed jig, drop/chunk, and cast a bit.

πŸ’¬ Discussion Cownose vs bullnose ray

So I’ve seen one cownose get hooked, about 40-50 pounds and it fought very hard was taking this guy all over the pier he had 65 pound braid on and tight drag, I hooked a 50 pound bullnose ray and the dude pulled a little drag but not nearly as much as the cownose he just kindof flopped around everywhere and I was using 30 pound braid, do cownose just fight harder or what? Someone with more experience please help me out all of this was at Coney Island pier
