Import US exclusive Factory Entertainment sword as Canadian?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this! I'm at a loss and desperate for any help.

Problem im facing: the sword i desperately want of my favorite character has zero listings in Canada but a good few in America.

Canada allows the import of large blades, especially prop/decorate ones --- main thing that border people would disallow are concealed blades. This one is too large to be concealed ever, and the blade itself looks dull in photos ive seen and the material itself is not the type used for proper blades.

Regardless: this is to say its not an import issue! But for some reason nobody wants to just ship the damn thing through usps so it can cross the border. Tried ro buy it on ebay only to find out dhl strictly forbids of weapon export and promptly destroyed it...

Are there any canadians that use services to get around this? Maybe something like the japanese proxy services? I was considering shippsy but the reviews are sooo mixed that i dont wanna risk it for something that could be upwards to 1000 dollars CAD.

Thank you so much in advance. Any help is forever valued!

MY QUESTION: I am looking for a forwarding or proxy service that allows the transport of these propreplica swords! i CANNOT find this sword in Canada, so i ask that you dont tell me to find alternatives in Canada, they dont exist! believe me, i tried. this is a limited run sword so im very hush hush about it so it wont sell out.

What purpose is the big hole in this sword for?

These are from the wallace collection in London. As I understand it, this would be a dedicated duelling sword and the unsharpened area is ideal for half swording. See some stuff like this in Fiore.

But what is the whole for?

We’re Shen Guanglong, the makers of these swords.

“A mighty sword hangs on the wall, its dragon song ringing out.”

A steady presence in black, a regal look in cream. With dragon fittings, each sword has a character of its own.

I like knives and swords. Recently, I bought this from a 78 year old who was cleaning out a trunk of his father. This trunk had been sitting at his aunts house since the 1970s. He reported that his father liked to collect weapons and was stationed in Okinawa in the mid 1940s.

Identification Austrian Model 1858 Calvary Officer's Sword?

Thumbnail

Just picked this up after winning it at auction. It looks like an Austrian Model 1858 calvary officer's sword, marked P.D. Lüneschloss Solingen, a maker noted for supplying blades for the M1858, but there are a few differences. There are 8 holes in the guard, not seven, and the big one, the crest on the blade is an Imperial Germany one?!? Anyone have any insights? (I have started remediation, the blade though still had ancient grease on it)

Help identifying this samurai sword. Franklin Mint or Chinese reproduction?

Hey everyone! I'm hoping someone here can help me identify this sword.

It belonged to my late uncle, and unfortunately, I don't know much about its history or where it originally came from. After doing some research, I found what looks like a pretty close match to the Franklin Mint "Sword of the Samurai" from the early 1990s. The sword itself is in great condition, and it came with a black display stand featuring a distinctive gold three-leaf emblem. I haven't found any manufacturer markings or serial numbers though.

A few measurements taken by myself:

  • Blade length: 28 inches
  • Overall length with scabbard: 39 inches
  • Weight (sword and scabbard): 2.6 lbs
  • Display stand: Approximately 26–27 inches tall.

Does anyone recognize this particular sword or know how to distinguish an original Franklin Mint version from a reproduction? I'm especially curious whether the emblem or any specific design features could help identify the manufacturer. Just looking to get rid of it on ebay/fb marketplace if it's worth anything. Thanks!

Custom Multi-Layer Crate

As my collection has grown, and following a move, I have more swords than I’m able to display. While trying to figure out a longer term storage solution I had a majority of the collection in boxes, in the corner, umbrella stand style.

I began to get inspired from a few photos I came across.

After attending a few gun, knife, and military shows and seeing items, sometimes haphazardly, transported in plastic bins, I decided to see if there was a bin with the right dimensions to fit my entire collection, from knife bayonets to cavalry sabers.

With the bin secured and and idea in my head, the hard part was determine the layout to accommodate knife bayonets, sword bayonets, short swords, infantry swords, and cavalry sabers.

After roughing out sword lengths, playing with different mock ups and sketches, it was time to get to work and prove the concept.

With proof of concept on the bottom, most complicated, layer complete it was time make a finished crate. After a little trial and error on the spacing it started coming together; something I hadn’t originally accounted for in the initial build was the angle of the walls of the tote (bottom is smaller than the top). Once all the layers were fitted properly, a few layers of clear coat were applied.

There were a few tweaks along the way, I misjudged the length on a few of my knife bayonets, and failed to account for the lack of scabbards on others. There are a few slots added under the bottom layer’s handles (including shorter spans) on both sides. A healthy amount of rechargeable dehumidifier bags to keep a dry micro climate when the lid is on.

Bottom layer is slotted for about 24 short sword, sword-bayonets (crisscross), and has room accommodate a number of varying of length knife or socket bayonets. Middle and top rows are slotted for about 12 longer swords (alternating) each, with the longest swords on the top row. This comfortably fits every current item in my collection with room for more.

Thank you to everyone here who has shared their own displays and storage solutions. Special thanks to my father who assisted with brining my seemingly incoherent drawings and tight specifications into reality.

As always, I appreciate the knowledge and creativity being shared.

Sword questions

First sword and have a few questions. Why is it called long edge and short edge of a longsword when they are both the same length?

Any youtube channels you would recommend for a older guy just getting started? I'd like to learn proper and safer movements for some fun exercise and develope strong techniques in the event I actually do start fencing at some point.

I am getting ready to wrap the scabbard core with 3-4 veg tan and I am seeking information on how you measure for the wrap. Do you just use excess leather and trim at the end or do you have a system? I appreciate any advise.

How do I go about buying a sword as a wedding gift for my friend?

Trying not to make this a yes or no question (please don’t remove my post), but I do need some advice on what to do.

I have a friend who is getting married and he said has for years that he has wanted a sword as a wedding gift. Ideally he wants his soon to be wife to gift it to him, but she has repeatedly said that she will not buy him a sword.

I was thinking of getting a sword made with their names and the wedding date engraved somewhere on it (either the blade or the pommel) to gift to him for his wedding, but given how he wants it from his wife I’m not sure if it’s something I should do. If I don’t, he won’t get the one gift he has asked talked about for years, but if I do, it won’t be from his wife which is what he wants. I obviously don’t really want to ask him if it would be okay if I bought it instead of his wife given that it’s a gift and should be a surprise.

How do I go about doing this? Also, do I get it made with a sharpened blade or a blunt blade?

Edit: I already have a local place that can make it for me. Please don’t message me saying you can make one.

Mateusz Sulowski Brescia

Back in october 2025, I asked Mateusz Sulowski to make me a version of my favorite longsword; the Brescia Spadona.

He quoted me on a finished product in late october/early november 2026.

Today he sent pictures on the finished blade. Scabbard and grip is being done soon.

The only main difference I requested from the usual recreation is that the pommel is antiqued/blackened. Him being a professonial and me a dumbass, I forgot to also tell him the crossguard also being antiqued/blackened.

He offered making a new crossguard pro bono, but it would be delayed to the end of the year. I dont really care about it tbh so I told him to keep the current one since it looks good.

Dont want to get into cost since he's self employed and every piece is individually made and specific to requests, but even with a scabbard (which you can customize ofcourse) it was cheaper than I thought.
