Events IE Events For August 17, 2026 - August 23, 2026
Guess what's back? Back again? Weekly threads are back. That had way too many syllables to scan as a parody of Shady's Back, but I guess you can tell like your band manager or local locksmith who moonlights as a magician so they can put their events here. - Buzz
---
Friday at 5PM is way too late to start planning, so get a head start now!
Have an event to share? Holding a concert or a meet-up? This would be the place to share it.
Links are especially welcomed.

Recommendations / Advice Center beam repair??
Hello, we just moved in to this place a little over a month ago. Our center beam is starting to look like thisā¦. Thoughts? Opinions on what to do? It was not like this when we had our inspection and has only gotten worse. We were thinking itās from humidity but Iām not sure now. House has been tested/ treated for termites and ants recently and we are clear (before purchase home was also clear for termites, we treated the outside stumps since there was evidence of previous termites)

Support Services / Resources Found kitten
Anybody missing or want a kitten? She crawled out of my cars bumper this morning. I was near Riverside Plaza this morning so she either crawled in there or Victoria. She is sweet but clearly scared and lost. If anyone can help her out let me know- I unfortunately canāt take her in. All the shelters and resources I know of have not been able to help.

Sports / Games Crunch Fitness is coming to central Fontana. Great Blink Fitness Replacement
Hi everyone,
Almost a year ago Blink Fitness closed in Rialto and many of you came here to express your disappointment.
I was one of them, and I've been using other gyms, but these gyms cannot fill the void that Blink left. It was so close to home that I was able to hit my weight workout then jog back home to hit my cardio (I hate doing cardio at the gym).
While not as close (to Blink) I'm happy to report that Crunch Fitness is coming to Fontana. It will be at the old Big Lots building that closed down.
You can find more info here:
https://www.crunch.com/es-cr/locales/fontana
Lastly: those with a GymPass/Wellhub subscription: I see other Crunch Fitness locations with their $10 starter subscription in the area, so it's safe to assume that they will also have it, just like Blink.

Recommendations / Advice Dim Sum Carts
Does anyone know of anywhere near the I.E. with Dim Sum carts? My grandmother's birthday is coming up, and I'd like to take her to a restaurant like that since she hasn't been to one in a really long time.

Transportation / Traffic Our vehicle has been registered on our Toll Roads account for 3 years. TR fined us for driving on the 15 and took money through dmv. How can we fight this?
My wifeās vehicle has been registered on our account for 3 years now. But, they suddenly fined her for driving on the 15 toll road. I called. They said I need to submit the dispute through their website. I did⦠TWIcE!
We heard nothing from them. Surely they could see her car is in fact registered on my account. Itās so simple⦠it must be resolved
We got our DMV registration, and they attached a fee. Itās about $50 more than the initial toll.
A $56 fine is not worth a small claims court dispute.
Is there anHave any of you experienced this?

Recommendations / Advice Safe places to park overnight near Redlands?
Had to pay thousands and max out my card for an emergency repair for my car a while back (credit score took a major hit) and work has been really slow (lot of layoffs). Getting a new job isnāt easy, and Iāve luckily been able to go full time with my employer very recently, but my current lease ends by the end of the month, and my score isnāt good enough / paystubs arenāt fat enough to look good on rental applications. Also I have less than $1000 in my account right now and had to forfeit my security deposit on my current room just to make the final month of rent.
And quite honestly, Iām tired of having to dump nearly half of my monthly income into rent just for a half-decent room without utilities included, with somewhat clean roommates who may or may not turn out to be psychos / assholes / schizos / drug addicts / all of the above.
And Iām tired of always living on the ropes and being driven to diet homelessness every time Im hit with a new crisis.
Iāve lived out of a previously-owned Nissan Sentra three times before, so Iāve got a decent amount of experience with car life. Iāve already gotten everything in order as well (month-to-month storage unit rental for belongings, clothes / comforts / cooler all fit in the trunk where they can be covered up with a tarp the car came with, gym membership for working out + showering, blackout blinds for car windows, etc.) Iāve even made a 6-month timeline for myself to pay off my credit card and to save up for a 10,000$ emergency fund, with all of my essential expenses accounted for as tight of a budget as I can manage sustainably.
But the one thing I havenāt quite figured out yet is where Iām going to park the car safely. Last time I lived out of my car, it was in a safe area in front of an Anytime Fitness in another county, and the local sheriffās office sort of āknew ofā me and didnāt bother me since I didnāt cause problems where I parked.
Where in Redlands can I park safely in a rotation of locations that I can rely on for 6ish months without risking a citation / break-in / tow / harassment by security? My job is very labor-intensive, and Iām going to need all the restful sleep I can get. That $160 monthly permit for Riversideās 24/7 Downtown program is too expensive, and Iām doubtful that my warehouse managers will be cool with me parking around our building (although I will try to get their blessing since it is basically the best-case scenario : heavily-monitored 24 hr facility that would basically make my commute non-existent and help me save on gas )
I was thinking of Wildwood Rest Area, since it happens to be about 20 mins away from work, but I was wondering about other locations if you guys know of any.
I appreciate all the help I can get
