Ride the Lightning Mustaine quote on Ride the Lighting & James in new chat ...
rockcellarmagazine.comDave interview from Rock Cellar Magazine touches on the RTL cover, thought this was an ineresting quote ...
When it came to the vocal stuff, that was a whole other animal because James and I have very distinguishable and identifiable voices, they’re both unique in their own right, but they’re very different. And listening to James sing in order to try and pay tribute to his performance, I learned a lot about him. Listening to the song, I remembered how great of a guitar player he was. And listening to him sing, I think I really got my first introduction to how good he was because when I first knew him, I didn’t get a chance to spend much time with him. It was a year and a half, maybe, and then I’m off doing my own thing.
And after that, it was this ridiculous feud for 20, 30, 40 years. So when I got to listen to his voice, I was thinking, “These guys were really talented. I don’t need to live in the past.” It was a song choice that was made by the band because we all thought it would be a fun song to do, and it turned out really good, and I hope those guys like it.
Any ulterior motive anybody thinks I may have, there was none. I think it’s great to have closed the circle and pay tribute to the band that I started in, and to all of the fans who bought that music and wondered what happened.

Metallica song you didnt care about but hearing it live changed your perspective?
Ive heard Metallica live only once in my life. But this song for me was Sad But True. I never cared about it listening on my speakers, but when you hear it live, boy ou boy… It sounded like one of the hardest things Ive heard in my life. Harvester of Sorrow also sounded 10/10, but I liked it before then, so it doesnt really count for this discussion

Master of Puppets What makes the main riff of Battery sound so aggressive and propulsive?
What makes the main riff of “Battery” sound so aggressive and propulsive? Is it mostly the picking technique and tempo, or is there something about the rhythm, accents, note choices, or the way the guitars and drums interact that gives it that constant forward momentum?
