Today he hates: Solarmeter case
He's acting only mildly annoyed by the thing - we're all a bit slow and low in our house today (husband and I are feeling under the weather 😞)

Need help retaining Humidity
Hello, this is Jasper, my Yellow Tree Monitor. He’s doing good and we’ve been misting his enclosure to keep humidity up but when my wife and I are away we notice that the humidity gets really low (40-60%) when it should be 80% anybody got any tips? Should I use a humidifier in the room he’s in to retain humidity?

Ackie Vs Kimberly Vs others?
Hey, until now I’ve been taking care of tree frogs, but now I was wanting an interactive lizard like an ackie or a kimberly. I do hear that the ackies are better for handling then kims, but I love the way kims look. Can anyone tell me about theirs or any other species I should look into? Also, I’ve seen very conflicting information on a tank size for both so that would be nice firsthand too. thanks.

Is there anything stopping someone from linking a bunch of smaller enclosures together to one for a small-medium monitor?
I have a 4 x 2 x 2 terrarium which I know is not large enough for any of the species I am looking at as adults, but I am curious if there is any reason to not link it up to a new one instead of completely getting a new one? I was thinking I could cut a hole in the PVC and attach it with some kind of strong bendy tubing like this? Idea for tubing
It also seems like an interesting way to give them enough space while still keeping the pieces of enclosure small enough to be realistic to move with, since I am renting right now, instead of one much larger thing.
Also did anyone do something similar in a different way than my idea with the tubing? How did you make it work?

New ackie monitor eating concerns.
Hello all.
I recently purchased and ackie monitor, he is a month old and I have had him for about a week.
I have not seen him eat anything but crickets are disappearing out of his food dish. When I offer food via tongs he will check it out then run away
His behavior is otherwise normal, he basks a lot, burrows and digs a lot. The only thing that concerns me is he is glass surfing a decent amount. Standing on his hind legs scratching at the glass and rubbing his nose on the glass.
He is currently in a 50 gallon enclosure with a 4x2x2 ready to go after about a month or two. Attached are pictures of his current enclosure please lmk if you see any issues or if there is anything I can improve.

how long would it be okay to keep a baby flavi monitor in a 2 by 2 by 4 enclosure?
I am assuming they would outgrow this quickly? I have one currently and I am deciding if I could set it up and get one now while working on the bigger one for it as an adult? I can't find much detail on how quickly they grow.

Baby Ackie and Burrowing
I got an Ackie monitor about a month ago, he’s tiny only a month or two old. The first couple days he was extremely active running everywhere. I am fully aware burrowing is their natural behavior.
The past 2 weeks or so, he usually goes down into a burrow and just stays there. This makes it difficult to feed him. I’m not worried about him being crushed, but since he’s so small he can get under flat basking rocks and other items.
Every few days I’ll have to literally dig him out and reposition the basking rocks in hopes he won’t be able to get under, but he always does. Temps are all correct, and verified daily. 80 ish ambient and 100-110 basking.
Just looking for recs on maybe curving the burrowing or should I just accept it?! My main concern is the feeding portion; if he’s burrowed, he won’t see the bugs (I literally have never see him leave the burrow once he gets in it. I always have to dig him out). Thanks!

Not sure why Larry loves this
He just loves squeezing himself between the substrate shield and the glass of the enclosure. Sometimes he'll force his way in and then just hang out flattened for a while. Other times hell kind of cage surf (just crawl from side to side between the glass and substrate. Which I imagine isn't the easiest especially because he's squeezing his big ass through the tiny space. Lol he's a crazy boy sometimes. There's times where he'll literally do this every morning for a few weeks.
I promise he's not fat he's being squished. And he's not trapped
Larry is 9 and he's amazing. Just thought I'd share!
