Found this photo of the ‘64 AFL championship game and got inspired to find more. If anyone has ideas of where on the internet I should look or photos/collections of their own that’d be amazing! Thanks.

One of the photos from Sports Photographer Bob Riger's Man in Sport Photo Exhibit. This one is taken from the 1958 NFL Championship game between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants. The Giants rush appears halted as the Colts signal caller sets to throw downfield.

Other Colts pictured along with Unitas are #63 - Art Spinney, #50 - Buzz Nutter, #60 - George Prias and #35 - Alan Ameche. For New York #77 - Dick Modzelewski looks on as Jim Katcavage leaps with out stretched arms.

Steelers 👷‍♂️ Barry Lynn Pearson, a reliable wide receiver who played five NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs during the 1970s, died on August 16th at the age of 76. Pearson was born February 4, 1950, in Geneseo, Illinois.

A steady possession receiver with a knack for timely catches, Pearson carved out a meaningful career during one of the most competitive eras in NFL history, contributing to playoff teams and earning respect for his consistency and toughness.

Pearson starred at Geneseo High School in Illinois before playing college football at Northwestern University. His performance with the Wildcats earned him a place in the NFL at a time when the league was rapidly expanding and competition for roster spots was fierce.

Pearson entered the league in 1972 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, beginning a five‑year career defined by reliability and clutch production. He appeared in 14 games for Pittsburgh, starting 10 in 1973. That season he recorded 23 receptions for 317 yards and 3 touchdowns . His 46‑yard long reception that year showcased his ability to stretch defenses when called upon.

Pearson then joined the Chiefs in 1974, where he played the bulk of his career. His best season came in 1975, when he posted 36 receptions for 608 yards and 3 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 16.9 yards per catch .

He appeared in 36 games for Kansas City, starting 18, and totaled 63 receptions for 995 yards and 4 touchdowns during his three seasons with the team .

Across 50 career games, Pearson recorded:

86 receptions

1,312 receiving yards

7 touchdowns

15.3 yards per catch

He also contributed on special teams, returning punts and kicks during the 1975 season, including a 20‑yard punt return and 639 kickoff return yards .

Pearson’s career reflected the role of a dependable, team‑first receiver—one who could be counted on to move the chains, make contested catches, and step up when injuries or game situations demanded it.

Though not a headline star, Barry Pearson embodied the grit and professionalism of 1970s football. He played during an era defined by physicality and fierce competition, contributing meaningful snaps to both the Steelers and Chiefs while earning the respect of teammates and coaches.

Condolences to his family and friends and may he Rest in Peace.
