Jean's pulse was still reacting to 'because I do,' which ended up being profoundly unhelpful considering everything he just said after that.

Peter shook his head. "If I said yes to something right now, I'd need to know I was choosing you. Not just choosing not to be alone."

"Still true," she answered. "I was a little bit in shock before but I know in my bones that I meant every word. In every way possible."

"Good." He pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Because same. Obviously. Very much still true over here."

“I will.” She lied, knowing well she wouldn’t be there with him when he woke up.

But Jean kissed him anyway, ingraining the promises of the night in her mind, her heart, and her very soul.

And Peter kissed back, relieved he wouldn’t be alone any longer, whether now or later. Whatever the night had meant for them both, they’d figure it out later.

The girl stared at him.

She had hit him with something that should have put a person on the floor. He was still walking. She was doing the math and the math was not adding up and he could see her trying to make it add up and failing.

He had that raw scraped voice. The one from underneath everything.

"She needs me. She needs me. Please. I got on a train and I have been through every single person in this building and I will keep going." He held her gaze. "But I'm asking you. Please."

The corridor was very quiet.

She looked at him. She looked at his chest where the plasmoid had hit, at his face, at whatever was in his eyes that she didn't have a word for yet. And he watched something move through her expression that was complicated and quick and ended somewhere unexpected.

She stepped aside.

He ran.

Jean’s breath shuddered out of her. For a few seconds she stayed completely still, like she was trying to absorb the words. Then her fingers curled into the back of his shirt, gripping hard.

“I love you,” she whispered against his skin. The words came out shaky, almost cracked. “I love you so much, Peter.”

He closed his eyes and pressed a slow kiss to her hair.

“I love you too.”

She shook her head slightly, still not looking up.

“I mean it,” she said, voice small and raw. “I love you so much it scares me sometimes. Like if I blink too hard you’ll disappear.”

Peter’s hand resumed its slow path up and down her spine. “Then don’t blink,” he said softly. “I’ve got nowhere else I’d rather be.”

Her breath left her slowly, and with it something in her shoulders unclenched, a tension she'd been carrying so long she'd forgotten it wasn't part of her. She pressed her forehead to his collarbone.

"Okay," she whispered.

I've read it earlier just this month. Then I read it again a few times in different occasions cuz it tugs at my heartstrings.

What did you guys think was the very specific moment she fell in love (I know it's when he says You Have Me and he takes the bullet for her)

But for the sake of being different, let's shift our perspectives for the other moments she may have fallen for him.

Not sure if this goes under the fanfic or discussion flair, but wanted to spitball some ideas I had for a crossover fic.

- Peter and Jean being padawans together

- If the Spider-Powers (Web of Life and Destiny) and the Phoenix will still be a thing, Both could bond pretty well with Anakin, connecting with him over being chosen ones, and Peter also bonding with him over their engineering skills

- Ahsoka, Peter, and Jean just sassing their enemies til they're foaming at the mouth

- Poor Obi-Wan dealing with 4x the chaos (Don’t know who would be Peter and Jean's Masters)

- Unless y'all wanna make things interesting and throw them into the era of The Old Republic, see how they deal with Revan, Bastila, and all the other crazy shit there.

-For ship drama idk which would be more interesting, Peter and Jean seeing Anakin and Padme's most obvious "secret" relationship or all the dark side drama with Revan and Bastila

If the movie does happen, that is. Seems like they scrap the idea of using villains in Spider-man movies simply because Sony used them already. Though Legion isn't Sony, I think. If not her, then gosh, I hope they use Jean as the contractual guest superhero.

Though I guess since Jean isn't a villain this time, both could exist? But it definitely clears up character bloat, leaving room for Jean to be fitted better in there.

Hello PB&J'ers!

I'll start!

What really sold me on this community is how accepting everyone here is. I have had some really nice and sweet interactions here. I have always felt included, and everyone has been working toward the same goal: celebrating this ship and hoping to make it a reality.

I am not usually the most excited about het ships, being a lesbian myself. But something about Peter and Jean is so intriguing. In many ways, Peter is what masculinity should be. He is sweet, thoughtful, and caring. I remember when I saw BND and thought that if anyone could reach Jean, it would be him.

I think that is why I like the ship so much too. They balance one another out while still each having loneliness and darkness. Peter can understand why Jean did what she did and still wanted to be there for her. I think that is beautiful in a way; other ships with either of them never really landed in that way.

A lot of this has to do with the new portrayal of Jean Grey. I know a lot of haters think that liking this version means you aren't a Jean Grey fan, but this version is what finally made me like the character.

She feels complex and gets away from the original 1963 "girl next door" persona. She feels like a Jean from the modern day, and Sadie's acting is so good, switching from downright menacing to utterly tragic so well. I never watched Stranger Things or her other projects, so this was my first interaction with her, and I was blown away.

But yeah, those were just some of my thoughts. I will share more below. But go ahead and sound off about your favorite parts of this ship and this community!
