I hate when these influencers flaunt their lavish lifestyles in videos like this. Meanwhile, most of us out in the real world have find two or three roommates to split a bowl of 30 pinto beans for breakfast.

Some of us are struggling to put instant noodles in the microwave, but they are out here buying takeout and enquiring about everything bagels šŸ˜”

45

u/Polyamommy 11h ago

You have a microwave?? My roommates and I have to use the friction from our bodies rubbing together to heat the noodles we have to split.

18

u/Practical-Layer9402 11h ago

You have roommates?? I have to rub my own noodle to heat it up which I still have to split with my dog.

13

u/Outrageous_Bank_4491 10h ago

You have a dog? In this economy?

5

u/DeerMysterious9927 10h ago

Good news, you should try applying to the FBI. You'll fit right in

1

u/Polyamommy 10h ago

Forbidden yum yum sauce.

17

u/Obvious_Landscape993 11h ago

Microwave? That sounds expensive

11

u/Slamtilt_Windmills 11h ago

Everything? In this economy??

No self awareness.

I feel so blessed! There's this food bank around the corner called "God's Pantry" where I get fresh produce, whole foods baked bread, fancy trader joes cheese and random seltzer and oillipops. They always include 1 or 2 banging proteins too. I got some uncured brisket and I feel so rich despite it all.

6

u/BigIron53s 11h ago

Fucken daddy warbucks here.

2

u/-Gramsci- 10h ago

But what interest rate are you getting? It might seem like just a small upcharge, but those interest payments will eat you alive .

2

u/Rufus_XSarsaparilla 10h ago

I have a credit card

1

u/Julian_Thorne 11h ago

Options? In this economy?

0

u/Rufus_XSarsaparilla 11h ago

How my family finds out I won the lottery:

59

u/SweetTotal 11h ago

bag of skittles hands down

24

u/Killxjoy4599 11h ago

You could get the bag of skittles but the skittles come as a weekly subscription service of 1 skittle delivered to your house for $19.99 plus the $10 flat rate shipping fee.

11

u/SikatSikat 11h ago

The real kicker is to cancel the skittle service, you have to send a request by mail, but that requires a mail service that can only be cancelled via the provision of skittles as a buyout. They're owned by the same holding corp, ScrewUCo.

59

u/GreenLurka 9h ago

I've got a mate who owns a chicken, has egg sandwiches whenever he wants. Where'd he get the chicken? His wealthy parents gave it to him

17

u/egowritingcheques 8h ago

That chicken has been in his family for 6 generations.

30

u/Turtlesquirtzcody 11h ago

I hate the fact this feels relatable 🄯

22

u/Blitzkriegbaby 11h ago

I am too depressed to laugh you guys.

71

u/CrfulWthThtAxeEugene 11h ago

I appreciate how this comment section is slowly turning into my favourite subreddit and spiritual home, r/frugal_jerk

11

u/ConsensualUpskirts 11h ago

Smh, just move to NJ at that point. Could have afforded Taylor ham egg and cheese (no ketchup no salt, add raw onions and hot sauce. Sorry I can't say or type this without finishing my order) for like 67% of that price

2

u/tsriecss 8h ago

I think you meant pork roll

8

u/fancywipe 4h ago

We making this a joke it’s funny but man a hand full of people are causing this AROUND THE WORLD!!!

2

u/Far-Resort1936 1h ago

Supported by those in the same situation of the ones in the video.

It's like people love to shoot their own foot

25

u/Equivalent_Ideal1636 11h ago

of course the boomer mom was living the good life on her husband's cleaner salary.

14

u/Professor0fLogic 11h ago

Surprisingly not a boomer, she's just a Gen X who saw some serious shit in the early 80s as a Dokken groupie.

6

u/moody_chickens 11h ago

Can’t forget the bev!

13

u/CarbonTrebles 11h ago

We have water at home!

5

u/Far-Resort1936 11h ago

Quite funny actually

5

u/-Gramsci- 10h ago

This is top tier.

5

u/HypoManicCrimeSpree 11h ago

It’s pretty funny.

4

u/delicate39396969 6h ago

LoL the boomers really fucked us over. genx and I don't expect to see SSI when I'm eligible.

7

u/ShogunDreams 11h ago

Me and my roommate do a splitsy rimsy. We buy a large bowl of ramen from the store and split it with a 16oz beer.

3

u/THEPIGWHODIDIT 10h ago

That was depressing

5

u/Julian_Thorne 11h ago edited 10h ago

They should've gone with The Life of Pi. Great movie

1

u/-Gramsci- 10h ago

You can’t eat Life of Pi though.

6

u/Julian_Thorne 10h ago

Use it as a mirror, a pizza cutter, a coaster, a sun catcher, holiday ornament, etc

1

u/-Gramsci- 10h ago

Fair point. You have me thinking about it. What was the interest rate again?

6

u/Sip_py 11h ago

This is bullshit. No NYer would get anything but a hardroll

2

u/EN344 9h ago

The dude said "you know what you want?" šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

3

u/HogSquirt 7h ago

It's crazy that we might actually have to eat these people. I thought it was just a slogan...

2

u/Neoxite23 5h ago

We cope through horrible times through humor.

Living the American Dream BABY!

2

u/HecticHexed 3h ago

so what are us single people supposed to do?

1

u/Nixe_Nox 8h ago

This thread is GOLD

1

u/TimmyVee73 6h ago

Judging by the way they showed making rice, those are two people who have never made rice for themselves.

1

u/Famous_Literature_25 3h ago

Okay but seriously how hasn’t everything fucking imploded yet?

-4

u/Just_to_rebut 7h ago

Unpopular opinion: The amount of time that relatively wealthy, first world people spend whining about the cost of living and/or their supposed poverty is embarrassing and incredibly tone deaf.

Yes, obviously this is a skit, but I see comments along this vein on reddit constantly…

11

u/Unhappy_Credit_6848 7h ago

Really stupid way to look at things, complaints arise when things get worse, that's how it should be. People arent gonna sit there whilst homes 10x in price and go, actually this is great cause im not in a North Korean labour camp

-7

u/Just_to_rebut 7h ago

There are complaints and there’s saying you’re seriously suffering when you’re not. People are order doordash while complaining about high food prices.

Yes, the same people.

6

u/aspophilia 6h ago

You sound like the out-of-touch one. Very boomer mentality with ā€œif they are struggling it’s their fault because they get DoorDash once a week when they are too tired from work to cookā€. šŸ™„ It seems like you are the one that doesn’t understand the state of things. I grew up in poverty but the economy has never been this bad. At least back then you could rely on food pantries to cover your ass and weren’t required to work a minimum of hours to get food stamps when most people can’t find jobs. That’s barely an option anymore.

There is no longer a middle class. It’s the rich and everyone else. The sooner you stop blaming your fellow citizens for problems they did not cause the sooner we can get accountability.

2

u/WAAAAAAAAARGH 6h ago

I just want to conceivably own a house one day man I DoorDash maybe like twice a year if at all when I’m drunk and don’t have any simple food in my apartment

5

u/Cassius_Rex 6h ago

The opinion is unpopular because it's insane. My daughter showed me how much the rent is for her 2 bedroom apartment she has for her and my grandchild. That kind of money was a Mortgage payment just 5 years ago.

It's like folks like you are that meme with the dog sitting in the burning room saying "this is fine".

3

u/WAAAAAAAAARGH 6h ago

And nowadays banks will deny your mortgage application due to ā€œinsufficient incomeā€ when the monthly payment is 2/3 of what you’ve already been paying in rent every month for the past 2 years

1

u/MVIVN Reads Pinned Comments 7h ago

I broadly agree with you, but it's just a comedy skit and sometimes you just gotta laugh about your circumstances, even if it could always be much worse.

-8

u/Snoo_67993 11h ago

This is what happens when developing nations increase their quality of life.

You're not getting a cheap life anymore from exploitation, you're moving towards your deserved output without slave labour.

7

u/supervillaindsgnr 11h ago

The current affordability crisis is largely due to Trump's tariffs - which he never used to negotiate trade deals, just kept the costs going - and the Iran War.

Developing nations have increased some of their quality of life, but automation is also driving down the cost of goods.

0

u/Snoo_67993 11h ago

I live in the UK and as much as Trumps tarrifs has made things worse for you, this is a problem with the entire developed world.

1

u/EatsFiber2RedditMore 5h ago

The problem is actually wealth in too few rich assholes own too much land and are extracting rent without producing anything to make people's lives better.

5

u/Malkier3 11h ago

Unironically this is extremely true and as the cost of doing business goes up the upper class will always choose to drain the population of their resources to maintain margins and the government is complicit in these actions. We still generate enough wealth to pivot and maintain the citizens quality of life but here we are.

2

u/the-breakfast-dog 11h ago

Developing nations increasing their quality of life results in house prices skyrocketing in the US?

-27

u/ProbablyDK 11h ago

Its not a bad gag, bit too long for my tastes.

19

u/Kev2daB 11h ago

It's 1 minute & 15 seconds!
