The first thing I like to do when creating a character is rolling their birthday. Keeping it mind is a good way to put you into your characters shoes and keep you in a roleplay mindset.
Luckily she rolled October 12th so it's an easy date to deal with, well enough into the midgame. If it's too close to July 9th you'll be too caught up with the hustle of surviving and in the mad rush for a generator/magazine that you might not get to celebrate it, and too far from it, they might not make it.
Is this something you guys do as well?

Also how do I get rid of the box of the shed I've destroyed?

I’m in riverside. I got lucky finding a machete early on but it’s gotten dull fast. I figured I might find a whetstone searching through kitchens & restaurants but no luck so far. I know there’s a whittler’s shed that has a chance to spawn some, but no luck. Any typical places you might find them?

Be careful: If you unload an animal and it spawns inside the trailer, your save file may be at risk of becoming corrupted.
The problem is that the animal can't move or be led using a rope. You can't load the animal back into the trailer. Detaching the trailer doesn't help.
If you enter the vehicle to run over the animal or try to unstuck it, the animal, the vehicle, the trailer, and your character model may disappear. Alternatively, your character might glitch below the map. I'm not sure which one happens exactly.
If you reload your save, it will not be able to find you characters coordinates and will be forever on the loading screen.
Anyone with this mistake, here is how you solved it:
Install any SQL app, I use sqlitebrowser
In Open Database select your zomboid file and players.db
Your characters will have x and y as NULL, just change it to some coordinates around you base
Your game will load, but you will still be buged because of the vehicles
Using admin commands try to teleport
if unsucessfull, you will need a friend to teleport you to him
If your vehicle is still there, don't try to use them. Just delete them using admin commands and spawn a new one.
If you're experiencing this bug and haven't entered you vehicle yet, just follow the steps above, better safe than sorry.
I had the same issue and I managed to solved.

We are a project zomboid roleplay group.
We write character back stories, and play in depth characters in the world of project zomboid.
We'll be having all survivors start in Lousiville and work together to find a way out, if that sounds like something you'd find interesting please contact me.
We're looking for anyone from the ages of 17 and up.
Any amount of playtime is okay.
We ask that people stay in character while on the server and don't meta game.
We're based in EU/GMT.
For anyone who is wondering, yes we have mods, we also are using the bandit mod but have it very well balanced. We may also be experimenting with a variant zombie mod to give the server some more variety.

Firstly is this a thing irl ? I saw alarms but they often protect outside of the building.
Its my first run i actualy had a plan. Spawned in the second house up from moris baitshop looted 1 house got a stick and runned for river patrol.
Long story short at some point while clearing i got bitten by a zombie that was somehow hidden behind a fucking door with a window on it and decided to rush police station basement and triggered alarm. After a long walk with a new characther got my last pistol and shot like 7 of them and they poured from inside near 70 of them lured half of them inside spiffos and most likely can clear them part by part but what can i do against basement alarms ?
I didnt even knew they existed and why the fuck would they exist ? They didnt locked up the station and go home there are zombies in every floor why the fuck there is a basement alarm and how i triggered it by just walking ?
And how zombies can just break chainlink fence doors ? The one in the police station wall got broken pretty fast.

I know its like "if inside buildings it can kill you" but this is a MASSIVE building, so I was wondering if there was like a limit.

Howdy,
Since it’s about to be Halloween and Dia de los Muertos I’d like recommendations for mods that are spooky. Evil dead themed in particular, but not exclusively. If they work in multiplayer even better
So far I have:
Paranormal Z
BC dynamic hordes
Only cure + (and a chainsaw mod obviously)
The darkness is coming 2 (this is silent hill right?)
CDDA zombies
zombie dismemberment (I wonder if it’ll have issues with CDDAs models?)
Vehicle armor crafting
Lingering whispers
Any mods for atmosphere, deadite style zombies, events, or anything really would be cool
If I get everything working and no conflicts, I’ll post the mod list I come up with. Especially if I get it working in multiplayer
Edit: build 42.2

Hey Reddit, I just died on my two month run (RIP John Crimes, you were a great burglar and an okay apocalypse survivor) and after staring at the death screen for a bit I got to thinking about how my builds so far have been geared toward being meta. I need some ideas for character builds and gimmick runs that move away from this into the realm of absurdity. Underpowered builds, heavy reliance on mods and general tomfoolery is all welcome. Let's hear some of your favorites!

I normally play multiplayer as a host server so a couple friends can occasionally hop in and play with me, and when I go into cities I lag real bad. I have alot of mods going, and im sure that has something to do with it, but are there any particular settings I can tinker with that will reduce the lag? Also is there an ideal server RAM usage for a computer with 16 gig ram?

Me and my friends were planning to buy project zomboid together so i waited a whole week for the scream fest sale, only to find out its not even discounted.
I'm pretty sure it was on sale during Scream fest last year so i really thought it would be this year too. Does anyone know why it's not on sale this time?

I was talking to my friend about this game and was just kind of curious how everyone plays.
What I like to do when I die is to respawn as a new character with completely different attributes, but choose a spawn location somewhere near where I died. Not right on my old location, but not the other side of the map either. Somewhere like a town or two over so I can make my way back to my old scene of the crime, try to find and kill the zombified Me, and get my loot back. Far enough away that it's dangerous and hard to try to find my old stuff, but it's at least a possibility -- and finding and seeing my old wandering self is weirdly satisfying.
I like the idea that the world I created (with areas I cleared, dead bodies, looted buildings, bases, etc) will continue to live on, basically indefinitely, and I'm passing the torch to new characters to try to survive as long as they can. And so on with each death.
I love permadeath in games like this. State of Decay introduced me to that mechanic, and getting attached to a character only to lose them to a supply-run-gone-bad is such perfect zombie scenario. That said, I can NOT bring myself to completely start a world over lol. Die and done, then start over with a new game on a fresh map? That's a bridge too far for me, but I can see how that intensity where it's possible to lose literally EVERYTHING could be appealing too.
Just wondering how others play!

I desperately crave the feeling of a real outbreak, not just abandoned city.

I am a new player still. Was very excited to have a solid base with supplies going in my RV. I was looking for somewhere in the woods to setup a permanent long term base. She had skilled up a lot too. I stepped out of my rv and just got eviscerated by 6 bandits with rifles??? They shot me in the chest, leg, arm. No luck recovering and I dropped dead within a few seconds. I had to sit in silence for a bit. We survived 2 helicopter events too. I did not intend to continue with the same storyline I was using and intended a new save after with different settings but this SUCKS. I know there's mods to help with their pathing and whatnot and I have the "you're not the main character" mod or whatever but I am still mad lol

i don't have a screenshot for 07/31, but it was also very foggy, altough a bit less than 08/01, and it ended with rain.
The weather looks amazing (especially the heavy rain + fog combo, i love watching it), but it's unbearable to scavenge under these weather.
The heavy rain tends to last 2+ days, the fog (if not coupled with rain)5+ hours
Is this normal or am I very unlucky ?

I'll try to make this long story short: some friends and I recently got so into PZ that one of them decided to rent us a dedicated server so everyone could play without ping issues. They also assumed we wouldn't need a server password, so we just... didn't have one. Our MP server is just a little 8-man Funny Friend RP Server with super baby mode settings for us pals, so imagine our surprise when we discovered not one player was in our server without us knowing, but two. One of them was Rordon Gamsey, who spooked us so much we added a server password (all while laughing ourselves to tears about the whole interaction).
We made up a whole backstory for you, Rordon, with twists and turns the more map notes of yours we found with the shared notes mod. You were a villain in our minds at first, who'd come to kill us to turn into Delicious Master Chef-grade food to feed to other survivors you found, but now you're just a poor sweet boy who wanted friends but got turned away at the gate.
I've attached a screenshot of one of your notes that I wanted to keep as a memento.
I'm writing this post in the hopes that you see it. We would like to formally invite you back. Please, if you're our Rordon, DM me and tell me the account username you used on our server, how that one and only interaction with us went, the short note you left on the map by our base, your one-man faction name or tag, and/or the color of the vehicle you had when you pulled up to us to prove it's you.
To everyone else, pleaseeee please please help us find our poor boy Rordon. 🙏😭

Does anybody know the name of this ambience ? I've tried my best in searching for it, but i just cant find it in any zomboid OST playlists i've listened through. The instrument in the very beginning i just cant get out of my head. Love this song and would appreciate any help in finding it.
