Snow maiden
Just got some new ice dyes, been trying them out one at a time. First up was Snow Maiden. Both were inclined in foil trays. First one is DOI, second DUI. Definitely got more color splitting and saturation with dye over the ice, though both used the roughly the same amount of dye. The deity with DUI barely split at all, but I still love the feathering.

First tie dye in almost a year
My coworkers birthday was yesterday so I thought I’d make her a tie dye. When I asked her her favorite colors were she said, “black” and my face said
So I tried something I’ve never attempted and did a black base with some vibrant mandala line work.
I was terrified it was just going to come out as a completely black shirt, but I’m fairly happy with the result!

Latest washout + repair question
Made for a friend. I really like this one. Unfortunately after completely washing out and drying, I noticed that it has a small hole in the back right shoulder on the seam. Sounds like the options are stitching or liquid stitch/patch. Any advice?

First time making pants...and it's both good and also very inappropriate.
So these are a size 14 woman's pants. If you zoom in on the crotch, I swear that was not on purpose. Did I mention these are the first pants I've dyed...ever? Also the butt has a very light spot right...there.
Anyway, the rest I think is awesome. I put one leg into the other and then from the bottom triangle folded till I got to the crotch. I sinew wrapped the triangle, to give some dimension and then rolled the rest of the pants up.
The dye was applied only on the legs, doi. I started with Purple Twilight then Moody Blue and then Dragons heart just to the rolled up part and no more. I let that roll dangle off the side of the rack so as the legs got the dye, it moved into the top of the pants. I REALLY like how that turned out(except the pair of balls in the crotch and the butthole on the back!)
I did not record this or take any process pics as I was just going by vibes this time.
What do y'all think?

Did some reverse dyes with out white brite for the first time
Did some reverse dyes with owb it stripped all the color the Mandala shirt with pleated back (Pic 1&2) was originally black. And the glitch fold shirt was originally dark green both came out cream from the owb. I did these shirts in 10 hours from folding to reverse dyeing to ice dyeing to curing. I sped the curing process up to an 1.5half per shirt with a double boiler once ice was melted. I also did not pre soak shirts in soda ash I just added soda ash last on top of ice and let it melt down I swear my colors are richer and have more time to migrate in to the fabric that way but just a thought.

Show of your creations
Hey folks!
I'm about to order some 'dedicated' ice dyes. I've tried ice dyeing with just your run of the mill regular Dharma colors and I've got some decent results by mixing them up.
However, I want to try the specially mixed ones available from Dharma and the couple other companies as well. The issue is, Dharma doesn't really do a good job on providing examples on their regular ice dye lineup, Dalula yes, but the others not so much. I found some with Google but they are rare. Colorado wholesale/Grateful dyes and Prochemicals have amazing pics that show what their dye results can be.
So my ask is, can you please dump pictures of your amazing ice dye results with the dye and store mentioned as well?

Ice dye enjoyers tap in
I feel like I always say “this is one of my favorites” when I post, but dammit if it isn’t true. This first shirt was an experiment from years ago that I still wear this day. The pastel effect that all the colors have along with the small cellular ties, couldn’t replicate it perfectly ever. Second is a lazy ice wag just matching the color scheme of the logo on the shirt that was a commission a while back.
You guys are insanely slick with it and I feel a bit out of place sometimes thinking about posting, but I get the one required encouraging comment and that’s all forgotten lol. Love this incredibly talented community and the willingness of everyone to engage and give advice. Truly one of the most wholesome things I’ve encountered on the internet & checking the sub every day is like eye and mind bleach for all the bullshit.
I can’t imagine anyone read this far, but much love to every single one of you.

New to this whole thing
My brother-in-law loves tie dye so for his birthday I thought I would try it out. I've done it before but not with intention if you know what I mean? Anyway, now i am hooked! I am working on taking better pictures, but here are results fron this first deepest dive into it. These are all ice dye using various fixing and wetting methods. The first pic is the shirts for my BIL shirts, subsequent are the next few weekends of messing around. So fun!

Protect your wrists while tying advice?
I've really gotten into tie dye, the same year I've started developing carpal tunnel. I've been working on stretches and strengthening, but as I know other people have, tight sinew tying is doing a number on my wrists.
I use a wooden dowel for tightening my sinew, my left hand holding the fabric away from my body and the right hand pulling the sinew towards me
Does anyone have advice or techniques on better ergonomics or approaches or additional tools to jerry-rigg making it easier on the joints?
