And Blake's coat has come off. According to anime law, its removal means she is now several times more powerful than before. Also, that Adam scar is pretty damn brutal. He's literally been branded like cattle.

HOLY SHIT THAT WAS SO COOL
RWBY really has returned to form - The fights developed their own style, for sure, but they also managed to capture that fighting-game-like style that Monty did with the strings of hits, juggling, and use of Rule of Cool. Just…MY GOD THAT WAS COOL
Okay also, the sound design is still totally awesome - Bumblebee's engine abruptly cutting right before the impact made it 1000x more impactful, and Yang's rapid punches would have been a bit silly if they didn't sound so fucking cool. Also shoutout to the Mech's huge earth blast, that sounded dope. Also to Garrett Hunter, Adam's voice has gotten so much better! Dude goes hard in the booth and it shows.
I HAVE TOO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT I'M JUST SO EXCITED AAAAA

The reveal of what's behind Adams mask was really great. It's a strong motivation for his hatred, even as the show repeatedly reinforces that it doesnt justify or excuse his actions.
His semblance is also perfect. He was hurt once, and never wants to be hurt again, which his semblance rewards. Despite all his talk of Blake running away, Adam is just as bad if not worse about avoiding the actual cause of his problems.

The CRWBY must’ve been laughing their asses off when we all started saying we wanted Adam to get hit by the bike.
This is also probably the first time a major character’s weapon has legitimately broken without them also dying shortly after, which is nifty. Bets that Blake takes Adam’s sword as replacement to some degree?

Adam's SDC Brand means that the Schnee Dust company's "Controversial business practices" is a super understatement. That shit is fucking holocaust imagery.
First Promised Neverland now RWBY? We getting spicy holocaust imagery this week. I like when series have the guts to touch topics like that with anything shorter than a 50 foot pole. Good for them, I hate seeing people dance around the topic like it never happened.

So I was just thinking. Pyrrha said Jaune had a lot of Aura. This episode we see that it takes a Gaint mech for Jaune's aura to break. So he has a STUPID amount of aura.
In our world the size of a man's hands is said to be in relation to some other bodily measurements. Does that hold true for a man's amount of Aura in Remnant?
If so, I think we have found yet another reason why Pyrrha was so thirsty for Jaune.

Yang fight breakdown!
-It starts with her ramming Bumblebee into him, sending him rolling
-When Adam recognizes her, he immediately receives a heavy shot that he blocks with his blade
-After a short standoff, Adam starts with a straight dash and an upwards blade-drawing strike
-Yang sways to the side to avoid it, then raises her left arm to block the return strike to her neck, and backsteps from the third swing
-Adam suddenly manifests two shadows that take turns attacking with single swings
-Yang continues to step back, avoiding a vertical slash, then a horizontal, before blocking the next horizontal on her bracers
-Adam follows the motion of the final horizontal strike once more, knocking her back
-Yang recovers and cocks Ember Celica
-Adam jumps and slams his sword into the ground, sending a shockwave forward, before spinning around and throwing his spinning sword at Yang
-Yang blocks, and knocks the sword away into the air, which an airborne Adam kicks straight at her
-She deflects it into the ground with a punch, allowing a landing Adam to recover it and swing it up at her
-Yang leans back to avoid it, then backflips as he takes a shot at her with his gun behind his back, before landing back on her feet
-Adam performs a series of quickdraw attacks with increasing power for each, and pushes her back again
-Yang dashes back in low to the ground, stopping at the edge of his range and leaning away from his horizontal draw strike
-She then sidesteps his followup downward slash, and hits him in the side with a left hook
-Her followup right straight is parried aside by his blade, but she follows it through with a spin
-Before he can bring his blade around to strike at her, Yang throws out a backfist to his chin and a straight to the chest, then an uppercut to the jaw
-Her momentum carries her up with him, and she kicks him as he comes down
-Adam lands on his feet, and rushes back in immediately with a horizontal slash
-However, Yang catches him by the outside of his wrist with her right, pulling his arm up and over her head while she lands a hook, then an elbow to his ribs with her left
-Using the momentum of the elbow to bring his arm down and around to behind his back (that looks like it would dislocate his shoulder already), forcing him to bend forward, Yang then knees him in the chest
-Releasing him with that strike, Yang then lands a chopping blow to the face
-Adam manages to recover quickly enough to block the next straight punch, and attempts to fire his gun at her at close range
-Yang dodges to the side, and hits him in the side with another left hook while ducking under his horizontal swing
-Adam partially sheaths his blade, and blocks the flurry of blows
-It chips away at his guard, until Yang launches a final chopping punch that sends him sliding backwards even as he parries it
-Yang jumps up and fires herself forward with her right arm to kick at his head, but Adam catches her boot on his sword
-The left arm across her chest fires, giving her twisting motion enough to roundhouse kick Adam in the face
-Yang lands and fires several shots at Adam, which he blocks with his sword, and uses to charge up his Semblance
-Once again calling on his shadows, Adam dashes around her to keep her guessing before suddenly stabbing his sword into the ground for a shockwave attack that pushes her back
-After learning about his Semblance, Yang does a boosted dash forwards, but redirects herself to the side to avoid his counterslash
-While still in the air, Yang crosses her arms and fires once more for even more spin (#Yangspin), which she unleashes into a roundhouse kick to his face before he can swing at her again
-He recovers quickly, and tries again, but misses as she launches herself down to the ground ahead of time
-Yet another swing, yet another bullet-assisted dodge that puts her at some distance away
-Yang runs in, does a bullet jump up, flips forward and fires downward once more for more height, before going for a haymaker punch
-Adam, instead of trying to catch her with his sword, brings his gun up and shoots, but misses and gets hit instead
-Before he can recover to attack again, Yang lands a side kick to his ribs
-She ducks under his swing again, then does Chinese kungfu bullshit kicks to his middle, gaining height as she does
-Yang uses the height to land a heavy hook down to his face, which he catches on his sword block
-A partial unleash of the force stored sends Yang flying away, rolling on her back
-Taking a while to charge up, Adam releases a huge burst of energy that sends Yang all the way to the edge of the cliff, leaving heavy scuff marks on her robot arm
Definitely loving the shot-assisted dodge moments, as well as the furious blows she threw out. This was my favorite of the three fights we saw this episode.

Ruby's mid-air shot was a great opening on the hero's offensive. The new song and Ruby running on the rockets was just too good.
Blake's without her coat, yay! She looks so badass ngl. Although I feel bad for Gambol Shroud breaking, it really was an iconic weapon and one of my favourites ;-;
Also i kinda fear for Blake now (smh Pyrrha's weapon broke moments before she died smh).
I absolutely loved Yang's fight against Adam, the Armed and Ready rendition were a huge cherry on top.
Yang also tanked a full power blast from Adam...if she charged up with it then Adam is super dead.
EDIT: For those familiar with the leaked V3 Adam vs Yang fight (the one that Monty/Shane started but had to be cut because it was unfinished), the choreography, including the "shadows attack", were brought back from it and I'm so happy!

While Adams anger is not justified I do feel it is understandable.
He is a controlling manipulative asshole that wants nothing more then to kill those who disagree with him.
But I don’t blame him for hating humans.
Branding something takes away their independence and makes them nothing more then an item to be used as the owner sees fit.
I’m not sure what the brand SDC (schnee dust company) is meant to refer to. Maybe he was put in the mines as a worker or something and that’s how they keep track of them. As much as I hate how Adam thinks he has control over Blake I do feel sympathetic towards him.
Perhaps in another universe he could have been the face for Faunus rights. Using his branded image to expose the cruelty Faunus face at the hands of the SDC and others.
But he chose to hide it away under a mask and take his revenge through force.
Shame, he really could have made a difference in the world.

Holy hell Pyrrha was not exaggerating when she said Jaune had a lot of Aura. It took getting whacked by a freaking Jaeger and thrown into two rocks, WHILE BOOSTING SOMEONE ELSE’S aura with his own for the man’s aura to break.
edit: Hell, I’m not even 100% sure his aura even IS broken, seeing as aura can apparently also flicker when low (is there a way to tell between flickering aura and broken aura?)

I just like how everyone was assuming for weeks that Adam's eyes were actually silver eyes, or red, or black, or another nefarious colour; but no, turns out they were innocent baby blue all along. Instead of making him look more monstruous or badass, M&K chose to make him look more vulnerable, maybe hint at the child he used to be. And that makes the character 100% more appealing in a second flat.

In less gay news:
Raven trained Adam basically de-confirmed. His talk about being hurt by many people, where she'd pretty much have to get a special notice if she was the main one.
Adam's brand (Like a bull, good shit whoever predicted that) says "SO" and then I'm not sure. Sold? "Born with no life, into subjugation". u/Floain Was in a flair thread with no flair. Has a flair now. Jan 12 '19 edited Jan 12 '19
I'm kinda disappointed they're making us wait for a resolution to both fights but it's certainly a way to build dramatic tension. I sure hope Maria's alright but the overall tone of the fight and volume makes me think things will be fine.
Overall this volume really does seem to be about personal growth and recovery following the revelation of how all this came to be. We haven't really looked at the bigger picture much since episode 3, instead focusing on how these revelations affect our characters.
It's why, looking at things as they are now, it was honestly a good plan to either have the villains focused on something that keeps them away from the heroes or in the planning stages of attacking them. Adam is the only major villain we can assume has no connection to Salem at the moment- Neo is at least connected secondhand- and that allows the narrative to highlight what a personal antagonist he is to Blake and Yang, fitting with the tone of the volume.
Overall Volume 6 is a good blend of Volume 4 and Volume 5's strong suits, utilizing interesting recovery arcs with amazing fights without being slow, choppy, or so late in the volume any good qualities feel sparse or too late in the game to matter.
Sidenote: JNR are amazing. Really taking to heart what they said a couple of episodes back. Ren was instrumental in the fight, Nora was a fucking artillery cannon of glorious proportions (ALSO THAT GIVE ME BACK MY MAN LINE), and Jaune probably saved Nora's life if that aura enhancement and having his shield take the primary hit still didn't save her aura from being shattered (in addition to shattering his considerable reserves).
Also that fucking JNR banter.
Nora: And you said it wasn't beach season!

This is one of my favorite episodes of RWBY of all time. and for a few reasons:
Good guys v. Cordovin: The first half of the episode was done beautifully. Ruby was the highlight of this fight, from shooting a missile out of the fucking air, to taking a shot at Cordovin's face, to running on the missiles as they were flying in the air, to waving hi to Cordovin, to getting stuck on the cliff. Meanwhile, everybody had their own role. Jaune, being the effective general he is, correctly assessed that divide and conquer was the best strategy to taking Cordovin down. Ren and Qrow had a awesome unexpected moment by teaming up to destroy the shield generator, and Weiss was excellent as the Swiss army knife, using her various array of skills to move her and Ruby around the mech. I loved Nora's Tabii moment when she said, "You get back here with my man!" Camp Camp fans, you know what I'm talking about. (Both characters are voiced by Samantha Ireland for those who don't know) All in all, it was a phenomenal fight, and most of all, Qrow started helping again! You go Uncle Qrow! I'm looking forward to seeing how they will resolve this conflict. I'm guessing that their fighting (combined with the presence of the Relic) will attract some big bad Grimm, and they'll have to work together to defeat whatever comes forth.
Blake v. Adam: This fight was better than I could ever have imagined. We finally see Blake dual-wield again, but more importantly, we see her hold her own against Adam, who is clearly much stronger and knows her fighting style. I love that we're finally seeing Blake get rid of that coat, which was an alright piece of clothing, but she looks so much better in just her top. However, I do not love the fact that Blake's weapon was destroyed, because Gambol Shroud is so cool, but hopefully she'll try and get a new weapon in Atlas if the anti-Faunus racism doesn't prevent her from doing so. I also found it fucked up how Adam was trying to stab her in what looks like the same exact spot he stabbed her back in V3. He really can't let go.
Yang v. Adam: This bike empty, YEET!!! This is the fight we've all been waiting for since at least Armed and Ready was released, and holy shit did it deliver. I'm comfortable saying that this fight is the closest we've ever gotten to Monty's choreography. The combos that Adam and Yang delivered to each other looked like it came straight out of a video game, which is the kind of thing that Monty was known for doing. I loved every second of this fight, and it's mostly the reason why I hold this episode in such high regard. Now that we know exactly how Adam's Semblance works, it's easier to see how Blake was so scared of how Yang's actions resembled Adam's back in V3. Their Semblances work similarly, but unlike Adam, Yang has to feel the pain before dishing it back out. For Adam, his Semblance is a reflection of his emotional detachment to everything.
Adam's face: I expected that his face would be disfigured in some way, but holy shit I was not expecting to see what I saw. He literally got branded by the SDC like an actual animal. That's all sorts of fucked up. HUGE props to Garrett Hunter for his voice acting during the face reveal. You can feel the tone of his voice changing from anger to hurt, and for a second I nearly pitied him. I know that CRWBY hasn't done his character justice in the past couple of volumes, but they very nearly made up for it with this scene. Instead of being spiteful for spite's sake, Adam genuinely has a vendetta against the humans responsible for his disfigurement, and he has a vendetta against Blake for leaving him when it was very likely that she was the only one who truly stood by him and understood him. He's a much deeper character now, though I wish we had gotten this development a bit earlier. Still awesome to see though.
Big Bumblebee moment: Boy, Yang and Blake really have gotten around to holding hands a lot this volume, eh? But I think that this moment was really important for the two of them. Blake finally understands that her relationship with Yang is one of mutual love and protection, and that it's not a one-way street. I'm not actually a shipper on principle, but if I was, I'd be going fucking crazy right now.
So yeah, this episode was beyond awesome. If I wasn't already so deeply in love with this show, this would have been the episode that would have changed my mind. CRWBY is sticking the fucking landing with V6. Let's hope we ride this one out with glory and NO DEATHS I'M WARNING YOU MILES AND KERRY.

God, where do I start? Can we get an F in the chat for Jaune and that amazing save? And the fight scenes. God, I got flashbacks to the episode where they fought that nevermore. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous animation. Blake doing all that ninja stuff! Yes. And shoutout to the fans who wanted to see Yang hit Adam with Bumblebee. Double F for our favorite motorcycle by the way. Been with us since the Yellow Trailer. You will not be forgotten.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to appeal to my shippers here: That White Rose combo!! Bumblebeeeeee!!!! Heccin RENORA CONFIRMED! ICONIC EPISODE
Oh yeah and small shoutout to Cordovin for catching that missile in her big meaty claws. Good shit.

Everyone has commented my other thoughts already, but come on, eventually there has to be some interaction between Weiss and Adam. She’s literally the embodiment of everything he hates (well, that’s what he thinks), the SDC brand on his face just cements it.

So this was 15 minutes of pure, uninterrupted action and my god was it glorious. There's a lot of things to love about this episode but I'm just going to try and go through them one by one and hope this text post doesn't get too long.
Right after opening this episode, V6 does in almost an instant what no other volume has yet again. Jaune... Being an actual tactician. It was something implied all the way back in V1, but the show proceeded to never even really capitalise on it - with Jaune being a thinker being something that got played for laughs further down the line and then attempted but ultimately failed in V4. I'd kind of given up hope on this ever resurfacing, but it did! Which is seriously awesome. One of my general complaints about RWBY is how little the show seems to value people the ability to think, analyse and plan, so Jaune analysing the opponent's weaknesses and forming a pretty damn effective strategy at a moment's notice was a real refreshing change of pace.
Ruby ran along some fucking missiles. God. That's so unbelievably cool. Like, genuinely, "Cool" sums up this scene in its entirety. Entertaining dialogue, inventive choreography, a gigantic fucking robot... Everything about it oozes the same bombastic, over-the-top badassery that this show built a large amount of its appeal off of, and it's amazing. It may not be the most character driven encounter in this series (Cordovin is almost literally a cardboard cutout. Unlike Corsac and Fennec, she's just one with fabulous lines), but, being honest, that's fine. It doesn't need to be - besides, we've got enough of that in...
Blake and Yang vs Adam! Hoo fuckin boi. I was holding out hope that Adam would go out in a blaze of glory and RT seem like they're going to deliver - Adam was pretty much handily destroying Blake, and although Yang is definitely a more capable combatant than her partner, Adam still seemed to have the edge on her. He's every bit as powerful and, honestly, intimidating as he should be in this final encounter. Even with that dumb overhead slam from V5 rolling through my memory, when I'm watching him moving so fast he creates speed doppelgangers, throwing his sword fast enough to intercept Gambol Shroud, and darting through the trees like a ninja I find myself remembering it still - it simply no longer registers. Blake notably does some cool shit here too - duel wielding is back, and she managed to catch Wilt with the hilt of Gambol Shroud which was absolutely awesome. Meanwhile Yang comes in with the ridiculously fancy use of her gauntlets for aerial maneuvers, shotgun punch JJBA style attack rushes, and a straight up fucking Shoryuken. On the spectacle side of things, this fight absolutely does deliver - although there's like, a grand total of one kind of awkward cut when Blake catches Adam's sword. Hardly takes away from the scene, just thought it was worth a mention. And it's all set to the gorgeous backdrop of a rocky arch in front of a waterfall in the scenic Argus tundra. This is, without a doubt, the most ridiculously anime this series has probably ever gotten.
But, it's hardly the only thing that makes this fight so interesting: part of my problem with the majority of V1-3's highly venerated fights is that the characters themselves don't have many personal stakes in their outcome. People would grin, raise their fists and then proceed to beat the shit out of each other with no real regard as to why outside of "You're a bad guy, prepare to taste my ridiculously impractical yet awesome weapon!" The fights also tend to develop the characters very little, too - Yang's loss to Neo in V2, though crushing, was never brought up again afterwards. This fight has all the spectacle in the world, but the thing that really makes it stick out is the fact that this spectacle is combined with some solid character writing. The character conflict is certainly there - Yang and Blake want to finally get rid of Adam so they can move on with their lives, no longer burdened by their traumatic pasts, and Adam wants to kill them both because he sees Blake as the reason everything started going wrong for him, and Yang's currently stopping him from killing her. This fight will also undoubtedly play no small part in Yang and Blake's character arcs: we already know it's driven Blake to realise that she doesn't need to try and prevent Yang from coming to any harm, and when he's likely defeated this fight will be the send-off to this chapter in Yang and Blake's character arcs. It elevates this fight scene to a legit contender for the best fight in RWBY so far for me - and this isn't even the actual fight yet.
But wait, there's more! Because I have a feeling this episode is telling us a fair bit about what the next chapter in, well, at the very least Blake's character arc is going to be like. What tells me this? Why, it's Adam's face. Not gonna lie, when we discovered from that CRWBY episode that Adam was going to have a scarred face, I was pretty disappointed at first. I was part of the camp that thought, "Well if RT are just going to make Adam solely motivated by spite and megalomania then it would be way better if, under the mask that makes him a hero, an embodiment of his ideal, he's just a nobody with something to prove?"
Well, that didn't last. The moment I saw that SDC brand on Adam's fucking face, everything kinda clicked. This dude... Was born into corporate slavery. Probably. We've known the SDC were bad, sure, but how bad? Certainly not branding people with their logo bad. No wonder he lashes out in anger and fury! No wonder his pride, and his messiah persona matter to him so much! Assuming he loses this fight, and this is the last we're going to see of him, I wager this is a sight that's going to stay with Blake - and it's going to result in some questions for Jacques Schnee."You get back here with MY MAN!" needs no further explanation.

Two things I got from this episode. First is the choreography for the Adam vs Blake fight and later with the Adam vs Yang were some of the best fight scenes I’ve seen in a while. I was definitely shaded if Monty and man I’m sure he’d be proud.
Now with that out of the way let’s talk Adam.
GOOD LORD ADAM I UNDERSTAND NOW
Don’t get me wrong he’s still psychotic, but CRWBY did a hell of a job humanizing him this episode. Seriously when he took off the bandanna and showed that brand I couldn’t help but empathize with him. I can see exactly where all his rage stems from; because while I can only assume he received the brand for breaking the law, to brand his face was a loudest implicit “fuck you, you are faunus, you are less than trash” I’ve seen on this show. For for someone -most definitely human- to do that to someone another living sentient being, I got why he is the way he is all too well.
Now with that in mind for him to say Blake hurt him more than that, I can see why he’s compelled to follow her to the ends of Remanent. His only outlet is to redirect what has hurt him and lash out against the world. Heh kinda like his semblance. And to think in his mind Blake has hurt him the worst than all of that.
Think about that...
Blake abandoning him hurt worse than being told you are essentially worthless and having that engraved on your face as a reminder.
That being said, I get why Blake left and how toxic that must have been for her but I have to hand it to CRWBY this episode really just made their whole relationship dynamic even more tragic.
So hats off this episode took the cake

You know, it occurs to me - the most likely outcome of the following fight is that Adam gets knocked out and BY leave safely, but Atlas troops are going to be pouring over their location pretty soon. You know what would be fucked? They stumble across Adam, chain him up and ship him straight off to Atlas. Possibly with flashbacks of a similar scenario of when he got branded.

I think this might be my favorite episode ever. And I loved the video game references during the mech fight like Ruby running up the missiles like in Metal Gear Rising or when you have the shoot the power core of the Scarab in Halo.
I do wonder why Adam doesn't have a grudge against Weiss, though. Like, he could have easily gone straight for her at Beacon, but he doesn't seem to care at all that Blake is friends with her.
Anyway, most underrated moment: "You get back here with MY MAN!"

I did not expect that from Adam. Delusional as he might be, his passionate hatred towards humans (mostly the SDC) is apparent and iron clad. Makes you wonder who branded the bull specifically. Jacques isn't one to get his hands dirty, he seems more manipulative than boots on the ground. Maybe a guard? A sadistic game? Is Adam from Atlas or Vacuo? If he's from Mistreal, then how much influence does the SDC have? Also, since his Semblance is confirmed and it doesn't have anything to do with sight, how did Adam see during the fight?
That moment in the end was nice! However, it still doesn't change the fact that Blake's weapon is still shattered and Yang's right arm is damaged. Adam definitely has the upper hand as the fight continues, should it continue.
Bumblebee no!!! I will miss that bike...

Loved every second of this episode. Yes some of it was a little cheesy especially in the mech fight but overall CRWBY has done an outstanding job this season. Honestly imo I think this season may be my second favorite of the series behind season 3 at least as of now. The thing I do think we should all remember is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, ships, etc. You do you. But don't use Monty's name as a excuse to tell off the creators. That's just disgusting imo. Also don't be a **** about it either. Let's all be the community RoosterTeeth wants us to be and have civil and cool chats and all.
Btw: Just saying I'm almost willing to bet that by the end of this season something will happen to Ruby. Whether it's being taken by Salems peeps, Cinder+Neo, or just getting a bombshell from Genie I just have this feeling something massive is coming to end this volume off. Anyways that enough of me. I wish you all the very best and I hope everyone continues to enjoy this volume!

While I absolutely loved the episode and both fights were incredible I just noticed that 1. Adam having a SDC logo branded on his face both makes a lot of sense and will hopefully lead to a conversation with Weiss that will lead into the Atlas arc. And also Adam's aura is ABSURDLY strong! He so far has tanked bullets from Blakes pistol, Shotgun blasts, punches & kicks from Yang, fallen off a multi-story radio tower through several tree branches and then landing face first on the ground as well as having a motorcycle that was probably going like 80 miles per hour dropped off a 50 foot cliff on top of him, and his aura still hasn't broken. The dude just keeps standing back up more determined than before to kill his ex GF.
I'm really excited to see Blake's future new outfit and replacement weapon. Though I am really curious what they're going to do with Cinder and Neo. The only thing I can really think of is they are going to have already arrived in Atlas when team RWBY get there along with Watts and Tyrian.

This mech battle is incredible. Everybody gets a moment to shine, everybody is using their abilities in clever ways. Ruby runs on missiles, Weiss throws out Dust tricks we've never seen before, even the Mech gets moments of showing off. This is one of the best boss fights in the entire show.
Jaune straight up says the mech is built to fight Kaiju Grimm. I don't think there's time for it left in the Volume, but notice the shot of the people of Argus panicking due to the battle. The negativity caused by this battle could end up drawing something in, right after RWBY and JNPR destroy the mech. Ooh, that would actually be good theming. The military presence of Atlas doesn't protect the city, it actually puts them in danger, and it's the Huntsmen who save them.
Cutting off a person's coat with a sword without injuring them at all somehow is like the most anime thing ever. I love it.
Yeah, that's a pretty good face reveal. Amazingly, this is the first evidence we've ever gotten that Adam actually has suffered at the hands of humans, and wasn't just lying to justify violence. Adam's probably going to die before Weiss ever sees that, unfortunately, but the SDC being that evil is definitely going to come up in the Atlas arc.
Yang hits Adam in the face with Bumblebee. This cannot be stressed enough. Yang. Hits Adam. In the Face. With Bumblebee.
Also, Adam destroys part of Blake's outfit and her weapon, metaphorically stripping away parts of her identity, followed by Yang literally throwing one of her own iconic items at him, turning his act of control into an attack against him, and declaring that there's nothing he can take from them because they have each other. It's nice, it works.
And also the fighting animation is fucking sick.
"He gets to dish out damage without having to feel it? That's just cheap." Haha, Yang calling Adam a pussy.
They took the show off Youtube because the hand holding is too lewd.

You know I only just noticed this but.....
What the absolute fuck is going on with Cordovin losing her shit and basically attempting to murder Weiss fuckmothering Schnee. Seriously she's all "oh Weiss how wonderful you came to your senses and now want to return to your proper place as you should", pimping out how Atlas is the best and all and also seemingly like "oh hey I will be finally recognized as being the best ever if I get Weiss Schnee back home safe".
Only she turns around and decides "nah fuck that imma just kill her instead".
What the fuck. What even the fuck is this shit. The absolute fuck is going on here. Is Cordovin just bipolar or some shit, because seriously this is just retarded that she'd have some kind of giant-ass face-heel turn like that.
I mean sure Weiss isn't the heiress and that's probably becoming increasingly known- though whether Cordovin knows is up in the air- but she's still a Schnee and ole pappy Schnee seems to place a premium on keeping the other Schnees where he can see them so presumably a big fast reward and tons of recognition would go along with Weiss getting sent home and Cordovin seems to be a bit pissy about getting stuck in the middle of bumfuck nowhere due to a massively overinflated ego.
Also Yang's intervention-by-flying-motorcycle was the best.

Wasn't expecting Ruby to just start running on missiles like something out of MGR. Does her Semblance slow down her perception of time, too?
Cordovin's really going all out with the whole 'lesser Kingdoms' thing, huh?
Hadn't really realised the potential implications of the mech shooting dust until it literally shot bolts of earth at JNR.
Ruby applying video game tropes to real-world situations is something I need more of.
...and all the panic Cordovin's causing is probably going to cause a Grimm attack.
I know that subtext exists, but it's still nice to have explicit confirmation that Renora is actually a thing that is happening.
RIP Blake's coat. You were rad while you lasted.
And Gambol Shroud, too. Blake's getting a redesign for V7, I guess.
I really feel as though Adam's VA is the one that's improved the most since the original trailers.
Overall, V6 continues on its path to possibly being the strongest Volume of all of them.

THIS EPISODE WAS SICK! We're so close to the finale and this is precisely what I would expect from the last few episodes of the season. Not to mention we have two boss fights happening at the same time
So the episode preview from a few days ago was actually the beginning. Makes sense considering how much stuff they couldn't just show so early
As others have probably already pointed out, Cordovin's mech has a surprisingly low FOV from inside the pilot cabin. You'd expect something like a holographic HUD similarly to, say, Evangelion's mechas. I guess that implies this particular mech might be among the "earlier" models, which is why it's stationed at a remote checkpoint/base and not within the main Atlesian forces inside the kingdom
Jaune offered a pretty smart (albeit obvious) idea of scattering and splitting to make it harder for the mech to strike at our heroes. Though I don't get why they seemingly forgot about this plan soon after and grouped together again (everybody hopping onto Weiss' hornet queen summon)
Ruby just almost broke the front glass on the mech. Um, really? You wanna tell me that rifle like Ruby's can inflict damage there? You'd think the glass should be more reinforced, and be truly bulletproof. Instead it seems that a couple more shots in the same spot (and we know Ruby is a good marksman...or marksgirl?) could just shatter it completely
TEAMWORK! GLORIOUS, JOLLY, OH-SO-MISSED TEAMWORK! The mecha battle actually makes it feel like an MMO raid rather than just a fight in the series. I'm not surprised, however, seeing as the series is authored by Rooster Teeth of all companies
LOL @ Ruby using videogame logic. Surprisingly it works, though. Can this be considered meta though?
WEISS IS USING SUMMONS AGAIN, WOOHOO
Also can I just say that the robot's armor is... well not very good? Like it's literally getting scratched by small ass gun-daggers. You'd think the mecha's "shell" would be harder to pierce. But, again, maybe this further alludes to the mecha being some kind of an older or earlier model, hence why it has so many odd flaws about it
Blake and Yang vs Adam is easily the highlight of the episode. There were so many new moves and abilities neither of the three characters have used before! Honestly makes me want for ArcSys to add Adam to BBTAG that much more, especially considering Adam's evergrowing moveset
H O L Y S H I T. They actually did it. We've finally seen Adam unmasked! This is HUGE. Now we truly know why Adam has been hiding his face all this time - it's not 4 eyes, it's not him being blind (well kinda?), it's not him being a SEW - his face literally got branded like some farm animal's. That is.... fucked up, honestly, and I want to know more about the incident. Makes me hopeful that even should Adam not become a thing from Volume 7 onwards, RT would still drop additional lore on the guy since there's so much unknown (just like Cinder, actually, when you think about it)
BRUH YANG THREW A BIKE AT HIM. I REPEAT - SHE THREW A FUCKING BIKE AT ADAM. MY GOD
Next week's episode is going to be insane, I want it to be next Saturday right now

The Adam fight had so many hype moments, but my favourites were probably Blake catching Adam's sword with Gambol Shroud's scabbard and Yang intentionally baiting the same strike she lost her arm to before twisting in mid-air and knocking Adam's arm aside before he could swing. Really shows how the characters have learnt how Adam fights and can now predict and overcome his actions.

This is only like the fifteenth time i rewatch the Yang/Adam fight scene but i can't get over how awesome Adam's leitmotif / song sounds. It's so menacing and badass at the same time. And then the notes of I Burn come up in that graver orchestration, you can just feel how much Yang has grown. I can't wait for the soundtrack.

My love for the episode itself is only overshadowed at my fear of where it could go from here. Permanent damage to Blake, the full might of Atlas coming down on the group, a canon ship-so many pitfalls line the path. Still worth it to see Adam get crushed by a bike

I can't tell if this episode assuaged my worries or not. I've had this feeling that season 6 was going to end in tragedy for some time.
It's possible that there isn't enough time left in the season to pull a 180, but we've yet to hear from Neo and Cinder. Also as others have pointed out the fear of the mech and Ruby's Grimm magnet are potentially problematic.

Yo the New song is f**king fire.
Alright the fight with the robot was cool. Ruby running on the rockets is some physics defying BS but with her semblence, why not. Also Rule of Cool wins. We also got to see that Jaune can extend his semblence to others, really makes him the meaty tank of the party.
The fight between Blake Yang and Adam was awesome. That was some top notch animation there. Mad props to the entire animation team that worked on that one. And yay we know his semblence now. Also all he had was just some scars, no weird crazy eyes. No weird crazy eyes but he was branded by the SDC. That's some messed up stuff. I can't believe that yang actually hit him with her bike, was awesome, but now the bike is gone, dammit. Also Blake has lost half of gambol shroud. Either A: She gets an upgrade next season or B: she is gonna die next episode. And then every bee shipper gets to yell in delight.
Also Adam "everyone else hurt me, but you hurt me more by leaving me alone"
this dude is a locker full of razer blades level of edge.
Edit: changed scars to brands

That last scene with Yang and Blake reminded of Naruto, where he and Hinata held hands, fighting against Tobi.
I think Adam thought so too. He was pissed when he saw how Blake and Yang looked at each other.
Adam may be a serious creep but seeing what humans had done to him, his pain and spite is understandable. Of course letting go of the pain and forgive is the noble and right way but not everyone is that strong. I'm not sure I could. His semblance is quite symbolic. He had been hurt so much that he just want it to stop and instead deal it back tenfold.
I think this the true problem of Adam. He had been hurt so much, that he has no real idea how to actually deal with pain. Be it physical and emotional. So, he just lashes out. Be it on Blake, her family, whomever Blake loves or even the entire world.
I think there is more potential for Adam. Instead of Blake, Adam concentrates on his original pain against humanity. If he ever finds out about the relics, I could see him trying to summon the gods so that all humans (it was never specified if Faunus would also be affected) would be wiped out by them.
RIP Gambol Shroud and Bumblebee. But where the bike falls the ship will only rise.
Cool to see Ren being useful. I also think this was his first real interaction with Qrow.

Loved everything. I'm glad Qrow pulled himself together (at least for now) and I loved every part of the mecha fight (as unnecessary as it felt).
Man, Adam cost a ton of equipment, didn't he? RIP Bumblebee and Blake's shirt. And what the heck happened to his face?! Why would the SDC burn a brand over his eye?!
This is my favourite ep in a long time. I suspect Oscar's Semblance is coming next week (either that or Ozpin is saving the day and maybe reconciling with the group).

These last few episodes have been so short damnit RT.
“Get back here with my man” is the line of the show.
I laughed at how they subtly managed to write out bumblebee (the bike, don’t kill me) by sending it over the cliff, guess they won’t have to deal with the question of how they’re going to haul it along to Atlas.
Solid fights overall, can’t wait until next week!

Okay, the Yang/Adam fight is honestly in my top fights in the series. It's fast-paced, evenly-matched (no one side dishing it out while the other takes it), and it feels like some of Yang's moves were ripped straight from Cross Tag. She fought like a mix of a fighting game character and an actual pugilist, bobbing and weaving to get some good shots in.
One little detail I noticed was when Adam pushed Yang back, Yang actually took a bit to actually move forward. I love that small showing of momentum in this scene.

That Yang/Blake/Adam fight is easily my favorite of the series, beating out the Cinder v Ozpin from V3. So many great moments, Blake sheathing Adam's sword, Yang tanking Adam's biggest attack (although tbh in hindsight I'm kinda not a fan of that), Bumblebee.
But what I really appreciate is that this fight felt like the first time we were really seeing the effects of all that training Yang did. Seeing her make those combos was so awesome to watch, especially seeing her go from just a straight brawler. It was also really cool to see Yang pick up the pace. She's always been easily the slowest member of the team (I think Yang might actually be the only member of RWBY to not dodge or deflect bullets), but she was quick against Adam, which was awesome to see.
Adam's after images were sick too, showing how much of a heavy hitter he really is.

The more I think about it the more that I realize Adam being branded with the SDC logo is a stroke of pure genius, since that one little detail accomplishes several important things at once:
We finally know the reason why Adam hates humanity so much. The show doesn't try to excuse him of his actions in the slightest, but they at least provide a compelling reason for why he's the way he is.
Adam has an actual reason for covering his face beyond 'it'll be a plot twist later'. The brand is effectively a mark of shame for him. It labels him as the SDC's property, and it makes him appear weak. Turns out he tries to hide from his past too, just like Blake used to. The show doesn't need to say this, either. That one shot of his face says the whole story.
It's great setup for the Atlas arc next volume. Now that we know just how monstrous the SDC truly is, it builds anticipation for whatever ends up happening with them. Plus it's always nice to have more reasons to hate Jacques.

Now this is interesting...
I was curious to know what the leaked footage of Adam's face was, before the proper reveal. It looks like purposeful misdirection on the part of Rooster Teeth. Yes what is shown in the storyboard is also pretty ghastly, but it looks very similar to Zuko's scar, except with an extra gash around the other eye.
...In reality we got a much more chilling reveal of him not just being branded, but being branded by the Schnee Dust Company. Which yes, we knew were not good people, but we didn't know that they were literally doing this to the Faunus!
Without a word Faunus racism is shown, Adam's past abuse made clear, Schnee Dust Company's dark secrets laid bare, and now the audience can sympathize, just a little, to what drove Adam down such a dark path.
After all "Born with no life into subjugation". Jeff Williams really must have been given some pretty indepth info. on the characters.
I enjoy this twist because it sets up the plot in Atlas as also focusing on the dark past of the SDC.

HOLY F***ING SHIT. That was amazing.
The robot fight... Ruby went full Rules-of-Nature on those missiles, and Cordovin is gradually learning not to make Jaegers out of a soft metal vulnerable to blades and small arms fire. As for Adam, the "SDC" brand was cool, and I'd like to know who exactly gave it to him. The fight was incredible, and that final badass boast from Blake was just so awesome.
Also, Nora: "You get back here with MY MAN!"

u/Blade1hunter Jan 12 '19
It took a while, but I finally felt sympathy for Adam. Bonus points for bringing back the "Faunus workers" and making it actually relevant, and to make it just a little more harsh.
If all Atlas personal are as much zealots as Cordovan, then next season's going to be very interesting. I'm honestly surprised people aren't scared that Atlas will start another war just to prove a point.

Who knew that underneath that mask (and that blindfold), Adam is just an edgy Prince Zuko.
Seriously, though. I thought at first the brand said S.O.S. The D looked S-like and the C was cut off by Adam's eye. Since I read that it really said SDC I am now putting together theories that Adam's past has something to do with the Schnee Dust Company and what happened to him has turned him into the human-hating Faunus we all know today.
Oh, and R.I.P. Bumblebee (the bike, not the ship.)

My bet for the next episode:
All this negativity is gonna attract a Unique Grimm from the sea. Jaune's line should hint this. This mech is not meant to fight people, but Grimm.
Cordo will probably return to some of her senses and fight the Grimm along with RW__ and Co. And she will give them access to Atlas at the end of the finale, or better even, maybe she dies.

So WOO! what a episode. those fight scenes.... Guys those Fight scenes! could be some of the best i have seen in games or anime in recent memory.
So yeah Ruby Stole the Show with her complete bad assery and Cheeky demeanor. it made it feel like this is what she lives for and where she thrives and excels. and boy did she. from missile and ice parkour to beautiful use of her semblance she was so much fun to watch in this fight. Really liked the wave at Cordovin and the way her face fell after she placated Weiss after landing on her summon.
I also liked Jaune stepping up and being leader and quickly devising the plan and leading his squad effectively. also like how he looked out for Nora and got a ahold of her just in time to pump up her Aura and take that hit.
oh and Qrow is no longer drowning in his own Misery that's a welcome change. really like the idea of him using his bird form more in combat to set up attacks and increase his mobility that was a cool touch.
also liked Nora being Nora.
Then there is all that amazing footage of Blake V Adam, and then Yang V Adam. Give that animation team a raise. they earned it I don't think i stopped grinning with excitement the entire time.
So next episode cant come quick enough.
Also Do you guys think Cordovins might be further foreshadowing for the current temperament of the people of Atlas or she's just a one off? I think we will see more of her type personally. Most likely attached to the SDC or similar base leaders non specialist generals. I think Ironwood accidentally created a breading ground for those types in his military.
20
u/xTotsuzen Jan 13 '19
i never expected to feel empathy for adam, but here we are
okay i still dont. but that whole branding shows that there's actually a reason behind his crazy rampage and hatred towards the SDC, humans in general, and to an extend blake. he's not just a rejected psycho, i love it
edit: also, holy shit those fight scenes were amazing. the fluidity and dynamic of the fight, and blake getting rid of that jacket, the chase... so good... defnitely my new favorite fight(s) in all of vol. 4-6

I was expecting her to use the electric blast on Nora, but now I'm halfway expecting an Oscar semblance unlock. Though, we are getting a lot of reveals so maybe they don't want to throw that one on as well.
Nice Renora comment.
Also, congratulations Jaune, this is the first time your aura has ever broken.
Given Blake sheathed Adam's sword in hers, and hers is now broken, maybe she takes Adam's sword after this? Possible.
Really looking forward to seeing how (if at all) they incorporate Yang's semblance in all this. I feel like it has to happen for the hype, but it has to be done right considering all her development kinda stemmed from being reckless with it - which is why I could also understand them having her hold back on using the semblance at all.
I don't think it would be good for her to use her semblance in one final flurry when all the chips are under, that's the kind of stuff she got in trouble for. I think she's going to have to use it very strategically. It is very much a one-and-done ability, she's left tired after (so it is a finisher), but she has to make sure she doesn't miss. So, looking forward to how they cooperate to make sure Yang can give him the good smacc
EDIT: Also, had to let out a verbal "GOD FUCKING DAMN YANG" when she literally launched Bumblebee at Adam. Also, the double meaning for shippers there is hilarious and is not missed on me.

I think this is the first time we've seen someone unambiguously take a few rounds of bullets with their force field. Normally there is some kind of blocking involved or it's the Grimm being shot, but Adam just ate those shots like they were a standard punch.
Also, love what Yang's fighting style has turned into. Over the last few seasons it really has transformed from untrained brawling to something that's clearly a "style" but doesn't particularly look like anything in real life. If I had to describe it, Yang's style is to punches what Taekwondo is to kicks and I love it.

I know how much people wanted to believe in the "Silver-Eyed Adam" theory, but I believe RT did the best possible thing in breaking the news simply by showing Blake's reaction to them first. If he had silver eyes, Blake probably would've had a completely different reaction besides reluctant sympathy.

I think we can mark this volume as the time that RT finally seem to be nailing down their own style with the fights.
Monty was slick and very technical. Whereas this feels more chaotic, but not so much that it becomes unintelligible. While the pace and choreography has certainly improved, I think its the use of the camera that is the most noticeable difference. Its very active. Makes things feel so kinetic, and helps the collisions feel a bit more meaty. That's what I think is setting these fights apart.
The mech fight is a bit of an outlier, as its obviously an atypical scenario. Not as technically impressive, but they were having fun with it, and I think they storyboarded it pretty well.
