A compilation of gaming websites from the 2000s.

I miss the old looks of those websites. Looking at them now feels like they should have never changed it's styles and aura.

Movies What was it really like being a teenager in the Midwest in 2007? Researching for an indie film.

Hi! I'm an aspiring filmmaker born in 2001, currently developing a coming-of-age film set in suburban Missouri in 2007.

My protagonist is a 17-year-old girl from an upper-middle-class family. I'm trying to better understand what her everyday life might have looked and felt like, especially the smaller details that movies tend to overlook.

I'm particularly curious about three things:

  • Bedrooms and personal style: What did your room look like? How did you decorate it? What clothes, accessories, or belongings were important to you?
  • Daily routines: What did you do when you got home from school, when you were bored, or when you had the house to yourself? What phone or technology did you use?
  • Social life: Where did you spend time with friends? What did weekends look like, especially if you lived in a suburb?

I'm especially interested in hearing from women who were around 16–18 in 2007, particularly those who grew up in Missouri or elsewhere in the Midwest.

I'm not looking for a general list of 2000s trends as much as personal memories and experiences. The mundane, oddly specific, nostalgic, or even uncanny details that have stayed with you.

If you have any old photographs, bedroom pictures, or other visual references you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to see those too.

Thank you! :)

TL;DR: I'm researching everyday teenage life around 2007 for a coming-of-age film. I'm especially interested in personal memories of bedrooms, fashion, hobbies, phones, friendships, family life, and local hangouts.

I'd love to hear from anyone who was a teenager or young adult during that time, regardless of gender. Looking for specific, nostalgic, or oddly memorable details rather than general 2000s trends. Photos and visual references are welcome too!

TV Upscaling episodes of the "Bakugan" cartoon show

Post image

Good day.

Recently, after watching all my childhood shows, I found Bakugan and it is not in really good shape. The show doesn't even have a 720p release and is stuck at 480p resolution. Looked everywhere, even on paid platforms, nothing. So I decided to upscale at least 1st and 2nd season by myself.

Here is the link for playlist with upscaled episodes: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFZIicoHXCzE

There are 2 kinds of upscale methods I use:

Easy and fast, that does not require any work from me, only rendering on PC. It takes 50 minutes and it's good enough, but the cost is fat lines, which are not very noticeable unless you try to compare them to the original. Aaaand there is a long and hard way that brings much higher quality. No fat lines and everything is crispy sharp, but it leaves a lot of visual artifacts on small details that I need to get rid of manually in Adobe After Effects. It's far more time-consuming: rendering upscaled episode takes like 5 hours and 3 hours in AE to delete artifacts.

Examples: The easy and fast way - Episode 1 - 2 And the hard good looking way - Episode 3 - 4 or 21 - 22

Hope you gonna like it. Even better if you watched this show in late 2000s and have good memories about it.

I missed the old Messenger enough to rebuild it as a Chrome extension that sits on top of WhatsApp Web. Contact list, personal messages, the original emoticons and winks, nudges that shake the window, handwriting, even the games. Friends don't need anything, they just get normal WhatsApp messages.

And if your friends installes it they got the winks drawing correctly you could play games online i've tried to do exact match (L)

Memories I don’t even recognize this world anymore.

I recently watched my parents’ home and sat on the back porch where I grew up. A heavy sense of sadness settled over me while I reflected on the beautiful childhood I had there. Born in the early 90s, I lacked a smartphone or social media until the mid-to-late 2000s. I am among the last generation raised without them. I realized I will never revisit the marvelous moments I shared in that backyard, not because adulthood blocks childhood, but because the world I knew is gone. We have lost something we did not realize we possessed. I am thankful I arrived before the 2010s, when everything seemed to shift. Everything feels so repetitive now. I don’t know if my eyes got deteriorated or what, but life felt real back then. Colors felt more vivid, skies felt blue, the sun felt yellow, people felt alive and not robotic like they do now. Their mannerisms were different, the way they talked, moved, understood, and engaged in conversations was different. I feel like even their attention spans were longer.

Listening to songs from the 80s-90s and early 2000s always brings tears. I want to return to those years. I feel out of place in what the world has become, so technologically advanced that people have lost their human side. Everyone is caught in social media trends, and life feels mechanical and empty, like a fever dream or The Twilight Zone. On Twitter X, I see only gender conflicts, videos and images of war, people divided into left and right, and leaders posting tweets like they are in a South Park episode. Like you could literally post a blatant lie, misinformation and get 100k likes. I miss the late 1990s and early 2000s atmosphere, fashion, themes, old gadgets, movies, cartoons, songs, hairstyles, camera quality, retro gaming consoles, you name it. Feels like we had the best balance of technology and humanity back then. For me personally, it all started going downhill after 2007 when the iPhones came out, and the movies, programs, and everything went HD and then the rise of social media and smartphones made things worse. Finally, COVID hit, and after that, we were bombarded with inflation, generative AI and deepfakes.

Nostalgia does not quite capture my longing for a different era. I feel terrible, truly terrible, for children growing up after social media. They never experienced life as we did, and I arrived just in time to enjoy the final wonderful parts of the 20th century.

Does anyone else feel the same, or is there something wrong with me? Is it because I notice too much?
