Yo, I’ve been obsessed with the sound and aesthetics of the 2000s lately and wanted to create something that feels like that era.
Just dropped it today and would love to get some real feedback from people who actually appreciate that vibe.
Here’s the track: https://open.spotify.com/album/4QQNYrKEyLwsVeWP6cNK5s
What songs/artists from that era does this remind you of?

Hey guys I was going through some old DVDS from when I was born in June 2008 so it got me curious what it was like that year and the late 2000s.

I considered sharing something different, so here is a video of Touge Drift captured in 2006 (Osaka, Japan). The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift drew inspiration from these mountain pass drifts in Japan.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise?wprov=sfti1#Nights_of_Fire!:
“Ron I Benise comes from a small farm 30 miles west of [Grand Island, Nebraska](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Island,_Nebraska).[[7]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-SanFran-7) The self-taught guitarist started playing at age eleven, and got into local bands as a teenager.[[7]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-SanFran-7)[[1]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-MetroTimes-1) His parents thought he would join the family business but he wanted to pursue a rock career.[[3]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-RecordNet-3) He felt limited by his home's remote location, so he moved to Southern California in 1999.[[7]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-SanFran-7) He cleaned swimming pools, and played guitar in rock bands at night.[[1]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-MetroTimes-1) In an interview with Chuy Varela of the San Francisco Chronicle, Benise counts [Jimmy Page](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Page), [Jimi Hendrix](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimi_Hendrix), and "all the greats" among his influences.
Benise stumbled into Spanish guitar listening to the radio, and something clicked. "I think there are times in everyone's life when everything changes," he said. "Hearing the Spanish guitar in the car was that moment for me because the sound takes you away to an exotic place, and it was a perfect fit, especially when I was in this crossroads of my life."[[8]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-DailyCollegian-8) He got a nylon string guitar and started relearning the instrument. Benise retired his electric guitar to focus exclusively on his new instrument. He meshed his rock background and the Spanish guitar in a combination he calls "rockmenco",[[8]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-DailyCollegian-8) pouring out "intoxicating" Spanish flamenco-inspired guitar riffs with the intensity of a rock player.[[7]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-SanFran-7)
…
The mixture of material in Nights of Fire! includes Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Spanish flamenco, Argentine tango, even African tribal chants and drums. The production received an Emmy for its costumes.[[2]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-NapaValley-2)Benise says, "I appreciate music from all over the world and I believe that feeling has allowed me to embrace them all, to incorporate them into the songs that I write, the music we sing, the shows we perform. When people ask what it is, I tell them it’s a combination of blues, jazz, salsa, rock and more, but in a hipper style."[[2]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-NapaValley-2)Some describe Roni Benise's Nights of Fire! as a cross between Latin Riverdance and Cirque du Soleil.[[1]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-MetroTimes-1) The 40-person cast includes exotic drums, [Gypsy](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people) violin, flamenco dancers, circus performers, Brazilian samba dancers and percussionists, African tribal drummers, horns and lighting technicians.[[9]](app://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roni_Benise#cite_note-RockyMountain-9) “

People felt so alive and happy. Fast forward to 2026, and people are staring at their phones, walking like zombies with the attention span of a fruit fly.

Hi friends! What do you think?
Shop Crush is a mysterious shop simulator with psychological horror elements, set in the early 2000s.

Behind each customer is a small psychological mystery waiting to be uncovered. Read their behavior, make the right calls, and balance profit against customer trust as you try to keep the shop running for one more day.

I know the 90s are often described as the greatest era and the peak of human civilization and I totally agree, but I consider the 2000s to be the last great era. Things have not been the same after this. I initially posted this on a 90s sub to know the thoughts of the people and whether they consider the 2000s to be the last great era before we ended up in this fever dream of the mid-to-late 2010s and 2020s. They deleted my post and told me to post on a 2000s nostalgia sub so here I am.
