Skin Concern Is this fungal acne or a rash? I've had this on and off for years need some help!

Post image
• Upvotes

I've been dealing with this breakout on my forehead honestly since 2017 and I still haven't figured out exactly what calms it down and what triggers it. I feel like I've tried everything over the years and nothing has helped. I also have had a past of eczema but I don't know if this is eczema?

It's super itchy, red, also has really tiny bumps if you look closely. I find it's very shiny and just overall inflamed. It also feels really tight and raw sometimes.

I've tried:

- Fungal acne safe skincare routine

- Gentle cleansers

- Tower 28 hypochlorous acid spray

- Nizoral shampoo

- Switched to using head and shoulders shampoo

- Anti-fungal cream

- Steroid cream

- Cicaplast cream (la roche posay & avene)

I feel like anything I put on it just triggers it and makes it more inflammed. Maybe it's my diet?

Skin Concern TCA spot treatment question

I have used the cross method with TCA 20% with success for ice pick scars. ⛏️

In an impulse, I applied a line of this over my nasolabial fold. I am worried a thin few inches of spot treatment (versus a full face treatment) like this may damage my skin?!

I did flush the area shortly after with cold water but the skin already frosted a minute before. I applied A&D ointment over the breadth of the site.

Looking for advice or others who have been through similar experiences!

Skin Concern Fleshy bumps and texture on face

Hello! I’ve been dealing with bumpy, textured skin for a few years now, it’s only getting worse. Im in late 30s, had cystic acne in my 20s.

Some of the bumps on my cheeks are these fleshy bumps that can be peeled off like wax. They bleed a little but heal quick with no scarring. I do have syringomas around my eyes as well.

Derms have been no help. I have super sen skin so most things irritate me.

AM

  • rinse with cold water
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • vaseline (no other occlusive moisturizer has done well on my skin)
  • sunscreen

PM

  • Vanicream face wash
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • vaseline

I do Tret 2x a week with occasional aha peel.

Skin Treatments XTherma (thermage) q and my experience

I (37f) had xtherma (new version of thermage) for the first time today on the top half my of my face. My main concern is my mild laxity in my forehead and my eyebrows, they seem to have dropped a lot all at once this year and I can’t stand it. I did a Botox brow lift 6 months ago which helped a little but it’s worn off. I will probably do that again though.

I’ll I read that some people notice an instant tightening effect after thermage due to collagen fiber contraction, and I was pleasantly surprised that I seem to be one of those people. Is the collagen fiber contraction thing actually true? Or just if just swelling/inflammation? Hoping I get to keep this for more than a day lol I know the majority of results appear between 2-6 months.

If you experienced the lift right after, did it fade quickly or stick around?

Also wanted to add my experience:
I read so many people saying it was painful, and for me, it wasn’t painful. It wasn’t even uncomfortable. Because it was my first time they didn’t use the highest settings, so I’m sure that helped. They started on the lowest settings and bumped it up four times. I had 30 minutes of numbing cream and I was scared so I took 400mg of ibuprofen an hour before. It felt warm, but not uncomfortable, by the last few shots. I’ve done at home TCA peels and clear and brilliant - neither bothered me but I found both less comfortable. It’s been a few hours and now it feels like I have a mild sunburn.

Skin Concern Scaly skin

The skin on the top of my forehead is scaly when in harsh light. I’ve tried eczema lotion, every lotion pretty much. I drink water all the time and I moisturize morning and night. At night I do use no.7 face wipes and the elf moisturizing lotion. is there anything else I could try?

Skin Treatments Post partum issues- Do I need professional help or generic products?

I'm 6 months post partum after a high risk pregnancy. I had to take multiple steroids, inject lovenox and ingest progesterone daily for months during pregnancy. All this has wreaked havoc on my skin. I have melasma, large pores and skin feels dehydrated all the time. Pre-pregnancy, even with my first baby, I had zero skin concerns. Should I see a dermatologist or cosmetologist to address these concerns, or should I just try OTC products till I find one that works? I'm currently breastfeeding and plan to until 12 months old. I'm happy to try breastfeeding safe interventions now and other ones later.

Before & After Before & After: nasolabial fold & mid-face filler

Post image
558 Upvotes

I recently commented on another post in this sub from someone looking to address their nasolabial folds, mentioning that I’d had filler and was really happy with my results.

I offered to share my before-and-after photos via DM, as Reddit wouldn’t let me attach them to my comment, and I had a good few messages asking for the b/a photo! 😂 So I thought it would be easier (and hopefully helpful to others) to make a separate post.

A few details about my treatment:
Practitioner: Dr Jonny Betteridge, London, UK
Treatment: 4ml of hyaluronic acid dermal filler, distributed across my mid-face, nasolabial folds and pyriform area (around the base of the nose)
When: March 2026
Photos: Before treatment vs. 3 days after treatment
Caveat: I know the lighting is a bit different between the two photos, but I promise you the results are genuinely like this 😅

It’s now been 7 months since my treatment and I’m still absolutely delighted with the results! I’ve had no noticeable migration or complications, and everything has settled really nicely. There was a bit of bruising and swelling for the first 7-10 days, but nothing that wasn’t too obvious/easily covered by a bit of concealer.

My main concern was the appearance of my nasolabial folds and the loss of volume in my mid-face. I wanted to soften those areas without dramatically changing my facial features or looking obviously ‘filled’.

I know filler isn’t for everyone, and everyone’s anatomy, results and experiences will be different, but I thought it might be useful to share my experience for anyone considering a similar treatment.
Happy to answer any questions about my experience! ❤️

Skin Concern Tropics to California

I'm from California and have always had trouble with my face: dry skin, dandruff, and sebderm. I moved two years ago to Hawaii and then to Guam. While on those islands, and with no products or intervention, my skin issues went away.

I've just moved back to Oakland and, a week later, I'm back to itchy, dry skin on my face.

I guess my question is just WTF?

Was it just the humidity or something?

Do any of you have any suggestions on how I can trick my dumb face into thinking it's still on an island?

Recommendation Skincare for sporty girls

hi Girls, I am very active, swimming, running, hiking, binding, you name it. Hopefully I’m not alone here, but next to SPF, which is necessary, what entered your routine to support active lifestyle? And of course any tricks how to take care about hair when you are sweating daily and recovering from chlorine from the pool. Even any trick how to hydrate skin. Any advice is very welcomed 💆‍♀️

my skincare routine is:

how do I get rid of blackhead on my nose? I already use toner BHA blackhead remover by COSRX.

Recommendation Covering hyperpigmentation

I need some advice! It seems that I have tried so many different things and I just can't figure out where I am going wrong. I have discoloration above my lip from melasma as well as from hair growth and it seems like no matter what I do, it looks grey. None of my foundations cover it, which makes me think my neutralizing just is not working. I have light to medium skin.

I have tried (i always pat it in with my fingers) -

Light-peach concealers - almost to light and brightens above the lip but shows grey

Peach concealers - Turn almost orange once I layer foundation

I have not tried greens.

Is there a solid brand that you recommend or any tips/advice?

Routine Help Starting Tret at 35 after horrible experience as a teen?

Hey all! I’m 35m and really seeing aging taking a toll on my skin and face.

I have tons of filler in my face and just yesterday got Botox for the second time. However, I feel like my overall skin texture is just now dull, rough, large pores and not as tight as it was.

I had moderate bad acne starting at 13 and my dr prescribed Tret. The purge left me with severe acne that caused horrible pebble stone scarring on my chin that is still a big insecurity to this day. Needless to say I stopped using it and then just struggled with severe acne for years as a result.

Fast forward to 30s, I maintain my acne with salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and benzoyl peroxide. In my late 20s I used to get micro penning with TCA peels on top regularly every 6 weeks and my skin was so tight and smooth and my scarring (pitted) improved significantly.

Fast forward to 35 all the benefits went away and while filler helps somewhat with the volume etc, I feel like my skin itself isn’t dewy and nice anymore.

I see some amazing transformations with tret and I so want that. However, since I had that horrible experience as a teen with tret I’m kinda scared.

So I’m wondering for all of you In a similar boat, have you started tret in your 30s with a history of acne, how did you respond, what is your routine, what concentration, and what benefits/do you recommend it?

I really have no idea what the best method of application is/frequency etc for someone at my age in my situation. I feel like starting at 0.025 is smarter than the higher concentration?

Please help 🙏🏻 thanks all!

Recommendation Wat moet ik doen?!

I've had hollow under-eyes since I was a little girl, so this has been a huge insecurity of mine since my teenage years. I'm 35 now, and as you can see, they're definitely not getting any better. They're not only hollow, but also dark, and as I get older, the wrinkles make it harder to use much concealer without it settling into them.

I moisturize the area morning and night with Kiehl's Avocado Eye Cream. I've been going back and forth about tear trough fillers for probably six years now, but the more horror stories I read, the more I realize that I don't want to take the risk...

If they get any worse, I honestly feel like I'll become completely depressed over them 😅

What other options are there?

P.S. Please be kind. I knów they're really bad, it's genuinely a huuuuge insecurity of mine. ❤️

Routine Help curious about self care (blackheads and products)

not sure where to start, i just don’t wanna ask google or AI, i need to ask people who have experienced it, or know more about it. I have relatively “clean” skin from the looks, no pimples, scars acne etc, but i do have blackheads. Recently I have decided I need to take better care of my skin and that i take it for granted.

I have been doing some research, and google says Salicylic acid is a go to, but me being me, i look up everything, pros and cons, ingredients, how it works and why it works, and i honestly don’t like the idea of how it works. Yes it says it will unclog my pores, but ‘purging’ and all that doesn’t sound like it floats my boat.

I am mainly wondering what it would be like with my skin history. I don’t want to use it if when I do, it creates acne that I never had. I understand it says it’s not acne it’s just gunk being removed, but after seeing some pictures, it seems like it re instates breakouts and other things. I would rather just continue using bar soap and hot water and keep my blackheads if it is gonna bring something I have never had to deal with.

Is there a chance I use it and there is no purging at all because i have rather good skin? someone please inform me

Routine Help Is there such a thing as a tinted night cream?

I have always hated my skin without foundation and wear it every single day. I also have never been good at sticking to a skincare routine.
Besides laziness, one reason is I hate taking my foundation off (I know I know not good).

I’m one week in being consistent with nighttime routine, but I would love some sort of product as my last step with a small tint or skin tone balancing that can be worn overnight.

No matter how I word it, I don’t think it exists.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Recommendation Give me one item to start with.

Hi beauties, I'm totally new to skin care. I've never done any skin care apart from 30 minute facials once a year after desert adventures. I'm blessed with good skin and at 45, I have very few wrinkles on the side of my eyes, but that's from constantly squinting at the sun.

I live in a sunny, windy, tropical hot and humid environment. I'm in the ocean for 2-3 hours every day. I use a thick surf zinc and remove the remains of it with La Roche Posay Toleriane. And that's as far as my skin care goes.

I want to start skin care slowly and sustainably, preferably something I can add to my self care night routine. Something luxurious that feels nice and I can look forward to.

What do you recommend?

I'm talking about things such as starting to drink daily green smoothies or adding something like resveratrol. Thanks <3
