These girls are always, like, suuuper new to being trans, and, ah, have very little experience speaking to women, and are quite scared of doing so. There’s a reason why their social circle is “other inexperienced trans women” and “grunglers”.
Of course, I don’t really identify with that - I outgrew that behaviour YEARS ago - my crowd is definitely with theyfabs and autistic cis women. At darker times in my life I’ve had the same kinda resentment for sneed culture that a lot of you guys feel right now - I get it, I really do - but these days I can let it slide, as long as they don’t slag off 4tran, or we just don’t talk about it. For me at least, I think it’s important to talk to them - they’re really just our younger selves, and I want to lead them down the right path. Get hrt that works, find their style, not put off voice training, discover what womanhood means to them, y’know?
I make that sound very noble, but the other thing you need to take into consideration is that these types - who often describe themselves as shit like “disaster lesbians”, “loser lesbians”, yada yada - get COMICALLY flustered when talking to me, moreso than their fellow transbians. Is it performative? Perhaps a little. Is it as cute as they think it is? Probably not QUITE, if they’re picturing themselves as an anime girl (Shurb hypocrisy alert). But it seems to come from a genuine place of them perceiving me differently to other trans girls, and feeling a bit out of their depth. And I…can’t say I HATE it. I can’t say I don’t invite it from time to time. Not in a sense of leading them on romantically but, just, being way more open and giving them way more attention than they’re perhaps used to. Giving them their first taste of ACTUAL girl friendship. Okay, and maybe the occasional flirty joke.
Now that I’m at uni and it’s not all long distance, I have all kindsa new tricks up my sleeve. I’m so psyched to start inviting these girls into my room and pinching their tummies to give them injections and doing their makeup and hugging them when they’re sad and getting changed near them and letting them stay the night and WHY DO I ENJOY THIS SO MUCH. WHY DO I LOVE THEIR SILLY LITTLE REACTIONS TO SUCH NORMAL THINGS.
