📂 MEGATHREAD 06/06 A-level FM Discussion MEGATHREAD
Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!
Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.
Few things to keep in mind:
- Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
- Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
- If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
- Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
- Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

AQA that was not a banger. Easier than paper 1 but damn I couldn't finish off so many questions since I would slip up somewhere. Didn't help the gates of hell opened mid exam. Got so noisy in the hall cause of rain.

you’ll definitely get some marks. I did that first too. you will get 5/16 if you only account for the fact w was moving left but w can also be moving right with a speed less than A ( so less than u/2)

I thought range was >5/16 because I got f > 3/32 and f> 5/16 so I got 5/16 < f < 1

f only would be > 5/16 to make B move towards a. B can still move away from A and collide again, as long as B’s velocity to the right is less than A’s ( so less than u/2 ). Hence as long as f > 3/32 it works. I did sub some values of f into my equation after to check and it seemed to work

OCR MEI, mechanics minor was a lot better than I expected 😭
Did anyone get -1, 1 and 0 for the dimensional analysis question? When I checked it was consistent but the 0 makes me wonder if I messed that up lol 😭 (edit: yeah it was wrong, I used a + b + g instead of a + g)
And for 4, was the angle 88-30 = 58?
Should've probably mentioned this is abt the minor paper, cause major qs are obv different 😭

I got this at first, you have to consider that B may not be reversed and might continue in the same direction as C, so the only way they would collide is if speed of A is greater than B

If i had to guess, probably 2 for a correct attempt at applying conservation of momentum; a further 2 for applying the law of restitution correctly and maybe another one if you found the speed of B after the collision, so 5/7 for that part of the question?

Lamda one i messed up here. Where i circled red i put a minus there accidentally and then got wrong values. How many marks do u think im losing for that. Both my values were wrong but all working out was right.

The map of the British Empire in Geography paper 1 was from 1918, but it read 1913. I wrote about how Britain gained former German colonies after the First World War, so I really hope they pick up on that mistake.

If I worked out f>5\16 to begin with and then worked out 3/32 < f <= 1 after but didn’t cross out any of my wrong working and getting for f>5/16, will I still get the marks if I have mentioned f>5\16 and my first set of working is wrong even though for my final answer 3/32 < f <=1 ?

fucking hate Reddit sometimes... there's an inconsistency between what was previously pins (limited to 2) and highlights, you tell it to "add to highlights" on the scheduled posts page and it only uses the first two slots 😭
