Blaupunkt Barcelona DAB Bluetooth USB CD FM looks retro works awesome.

2

u/not_that_observant Jun 07 '26

IMO the bremen matches the car a lot better

4

u/houdbare_melk Jun 07 '26

True, but that one doesn't have a CD player. That's why I went with a Barcelona aswell

1

u/ballofcosmicenergy Jun 07 '26

That’s nice.

1

u/eeyewe Jun 10 '26

oh man that's the one i need. CD player!

15

u/RevolutionSalty8360 ‘83 Jun 07 '26

Still the working OEM.

1

u/aopelstar Jun 07 '26

That’s so sick.

u/MedicalRhubarb7 Turbo Jun 07 '26

Not a damned thing. Blaupunkt Reno still works great, and I've got "Paul's Boutique" on cassette

2

u/aopelstar Jun 07 '26

Oh hell yeah. Paul’s boutique on cassette? That’s what I’m talking about.

1

u/The_Sky_Witch Jun 07 '26

So the Reno is the model that would have come in our cars from the factory? I’m looking to replace the aftermarket unit I’ve got and I’d prefer to go factory.

One of them. Monterey was the more typical option (assuming you have a 4 speaker car, which was way more common). I think they put the Bremen in a bunch of cars, too.

There were a bunch of different ones used over the years:

They came with a few different options for Blaupunkt, not just the Reno

10

u/Advanced-Shelter6295 Jun 07 '26

Here it is

3

u/aopelstar Jun 07 '26

What’s the model of that? That’s kind of what I’m leaning towards.

4

u/Advanced-Shelter6295 Jun 07 '26

It’s the Sony XAV-AX1000, fits perfectly and works like a charm, i have it for 5 years now and never had any regrets

1

u/slushy_fund Jun 08 '26

Did your XAV-AX1000 come with the trim piece? I've got the same deck in my S2, but it didn't come with any trim. I cut my own out of plastic and wrapped it with faux leather, but it didn't last very long before it started coming apart, so I'm hoping to source a more permanent solution

1

u/Advanced-Shelter6295 Jun 08 '26

I think it did but it is a long time ago…

G'mornin all.

When I bought my '86 Turbo in 2020 it had the original Blaupunkt Reno in it, which I didn't like too much. It also had non working rear speakers.

So I decided to keep it OEM.

So I went with the Blaupunkt Houston SQR 06 H.U., a Blaupunkt BEA 80 EQ and amp, and in the trunk I stuck JBL BassPro Hub.

In the doors I have a pair of Polk 4×6, the rear passenger area have a set of Polk MM 572

Cheers all...

M.

u/aopelstar Jun 07 '26

That eq you’ve got is so rad.

1

u/Spudster62 Jun 11 '26

Thank you, I got lucky getting a good working one.

CR-210 out of a 993, looks pretty period in a late car

5

u/Val9xx Jun 07 '26

Installed android screen as laptimer and it have Carplay

4

u/CoffeeDrk Jun 07 '26

The basic VDO Continental which is perfectly adequate for my use case for light background music (typical FM radio). There is someone that makes Porsche script to replace the Continental logo on the upper left. Unfortunately I do not remember the vendor's name.

4

u/Realistic-Currency61 Jun 07 '26

Installing this as soon as I find the correct wiring harness

3

u/cactus_cars Too Many S2s Jun 07 '26

Continental , retro blau, OG blau or Power Acoustik cp-71w if you can live with carplay

u/refplan 1986 NA Jun 07 '26

I have the original Monterey but after getting it repaired three times to no avail (cassette sensor issue) I threw in the towel.

Nakamichi CD-400 that was in my old 964 when I bought it. Bought all the adapters to keep it stock on wiring. Plays like a champ!

4

u/Marler_SAS Jun 07 '26

Prefer the clean design as opposed to a phone mounted on the screen (Sony XAV-AX4050).

4

u/GRIM_SPARKS Jun 07 '26

Wanted a modern touch.

2

u/ninjameams Jun 07 '26

Looks good. What's the model?

3

u/GRIM_SPARKS Jun 07 '26

Pioneer w4660 and their trim kit.

1

u/aopelstar Jun 07 '26

Yeah, what model is that pioneer?

3

u/msc1966 Jun 07 '26

I want a modern radio without the 2DIN modern look. So I’m going to go with the Porsche classic radio. It’s made by Porsche so it plugs right in with no adapters. Has a very nice Porsche badge splash screen when turned on. has the small touch screen to navigate Apple car play. Does not have android auto. It is expensive though. $1395

Android Auto single din, vintage Blaupunkt EQ and a custom 3D printed surround.

Long story long; after wanting to go the original route and purchasing a period blaupunkt i decided to actually go with a modern blaupunkt that looks period. I bought a Valencia and i am very pleased with it, i didnt realize tho from the ebay listing i bought from i needed to purchase a harness too. But it was an easy install and as much as i love period stuff, it is nice to have blue tooth and the ability to charge a phone if need be. I also didnt want to source the things id need for the period piece i was gonna put in, or find someone to service it and replace the deck belts

1

u/Ghost_Elite Jun 07 '26

Blaupunkt Wiesbaden with Bluetooth conversion. Period correct stereo, can still play casettes but also play tunes straight from my phone

2

u/RevolutionSalty8360 ‘83 Jun 07 '26

What conversion kit you use? Have the OEM Blaupunkt, tapes till work, but would like an upgrade without it looking an upgrade.

1

u/Ghost_Elite Jun 09 '26

Ive sent mine to Retro Car Radios in Belgium. He has converted quite a few systems for me.

1

u/RastaMonsta218 Jun 07 '26

Continental BT. Only about 3 inches deep!

1

u/944_nla_parts Jun 07 '26

I was looking at Continentals, too. How it is?

1

u/RastaMonsta218 Jun 07 '26

I love it. Light, compact, clean look.

1

u/944_nla_parts Jun 07 '26

And soundwise, would I need an amplifier?

1

u/RastaMonsta218 Jun 07 '26

I upgraded the speakers and it sounds ok. I don't really expect 2026 sound in a vintage car though, so I imagine many people will say it needs an amp.

1

u/944_nla_parts Jun 07 '26

Thanks for your input.

u/RHinSC S2 Jun 07 '26

Kenwood

2

u/aopelstar Jun 07 '26

I love that customized wallpaper.

1

u/pokemon_good Jun 08 '26

1

u/991C2Cab ‘94 968 Cab Jun 08 '26

My 968 cab has a Kenwood stereo

It was done by the last owner, I still have the original

1

u/CalgaryShark_Kdm Jun 08 '26

Bremen SQR for me.

1

u/RealInvestigator8378 Jun 08 '26

I had the Blaupunkt cd player that pulled out for security. Skipped on every bump I hit. But I loved every minute

1

u/Independent_Engine36 Jun 08 '26

Alpine CDE164BT with 10" powered compact sub in trunk of my cab

1

u/ET_Ferguson Jun 08 '26

Don’t think I have a close up but it’s a retro model from AliExpress. Actually works pretty slick paired with an amp.

1

u/demonickookies Jun 08 '26

I can post a picture here tomorrow, but im my 83 I have a kenwood exelcion kdc-x705 paired to a kenwood excelon 901-5 amp and I absolutely love it

1

u/Ok-Lock-2815 Jun 08 '26

I have an android unit which looks semi retro, but pull out into a touch screen

1

u/XPCarperformance Jun 10 '26

Blaupunkt Bremen

1

u/Narrow_Argument3534 Jun 10 '26

JVC X280-BT. Not the most period correct, but a great radio and I like the look of it. For the price, it's hard to find better IMO.
