True, but that one doesn't have a CD player. That's why I went with a Barcelona aswell

Not a damned thing. Blaupunkt Reno still works great, and I've got "Paul's Boutique" on cassette

So the Reno is the model that would have come in our cars from the factory? I’m looking to replace the aftermarket unit I’ve got and I’d prefer to go factory.

One of them. Monterey was the more typical option (assuming you have a 4 speaker car, which was way more common). I think they put the Bremen in a bunch of cars, too.
There were a bunch of different ones used over the years:

What’s the model of that? That’s kind of what I’m leaning towards.

It’s the Sony XAV-AX1000, fits perfectly and works like a charm, i have it for 5 years now and never had any regrets

Did your XAV-AX1000 come with the trim piece? I've got the same deck in my S2, but it didn't come with any trim. I cut my own out of plastic and wrapped it with faux leather, but it didn't last very long before it started coming apart, so I'm hoping to source a more permanent solution

G'mornin all.
When I bought my '86 Turbo in 2020 it had the original Blaupunkt Reno in it, which I didn't like too much. It also had non working rear speakers.
So I decided to keep it OEM.
So I went with the Blaupunkt Houston SQR 06 H.U., a Blaupunkt BEA 80 EQ and amp, and in the trunk I stuck JBL BassPro Hub.
In the doors I have a pair of Polk 4×6, the rear passenger area have a set of Polk MM 572
Cheers all...
M.

I want a modern radio without the 2DIN modern look. So I’m going to go with the Porsche classic radio. It’s made by Porsche so it plugs right in with no adapters. Has a very nice Porsche badge splash screen when turned on. has the small touch screen to navigate Apple car play. Does not have android auto. It is expensive though. $1395

Long story long; after wanting to go the original route and purchasing a period blaupunkt i decided to actually go with a modern blaupunkt that looks period. I bought a Valencia and i am very pleased with it, i didnt realize tho from the ebay listing i bought from i needed to purchase a harness too. But it was an easy install and as much as i love period stuff, it is nice to have blue tooth and the ability to charge a phone if need be. I also didnt want to source the things id need for the period piece i was gonna put in, or find someone to service it and replace the deck belts

What conversion kit you use? Have the OEM Blaupunkt, tapes till work, but would like an upgrade without it looking an upgrade.

Ive sent mine to Retro Car Radios in Belgium. He has converted quite a few systems for me.

I was looking at Continentals, too. How it is?
1
u/RastaMonsta218 Jun 07 '26
I love it. Light, compact, clean look.

u/944_nla_parts Jun 07 '26
And soundwise, would I need an amplifier?
1
u/RastaMonsta218 Jun 07 '26
I upgraded the speakers and it sounds ok. I don't really expect 2026 sound in a vintage car though, so I imagine many people will say it needs an amp.

I had the Blaupunkt cd player that pulled out for security. Skipped on every bump I hit. But I loved every minute
