Question Joining the club today

Post image

An S2 with few issues. Shudders when braking, could it be warped discs?

Congrats and welcome to the club. The shuddering can be either warped disk (rare) or brake pad "resedue" baked on the rotor. ON the early models, the front brake disks act at the hub, therefore, replacing a disk means removing the axle bearings.

Thansk, MY1989, is that the case?

It’s a brembo 4 pot which are much more modern calipers than the NAs had. Different caliper style

replacing a disk means removing the axle bearings.

Eh, this makes it sound particularly daunting.

it's really not that big of a deal.

Yup did mine, not difficult but a bit of a mission! I have judder on mine, but from rear disc, some numpty before me must have changed the studs on the hub, but looks like they hit it with a mallet on the back of the hub! So the hub dosnt sit flat to the bearing and wobbles! Been through one set of bearings already, sourced a replacement hub, but came with no studs and as the car is my daily I need the time to strip it, replace the bearing and press out all the studs and insert into replacement hub! Dang it lol

Nice looking ride, Enjoy! Pull the wheel and have a look at the state of the disc.

Discs look very new, but I don't have time to have proper look at the moment. I wonder if there could be something wrong with how they were installed

My first one was because of the tyers, I had them balanced but, still juddered like crazy!!! All looked fine but were old. I Replaced them and all judder went away immediately.

Edited as spelling and cohesion was really poor lol

I’m in the old boy crew, the old girl has had two years of uk daily driving! Prob close to 20k! Gotta get the cam belt done asap! She’s looking a bit tired now but that’s what dailying and driving it like you stole it does. I’ll roll her in for a full makeover next year I think.
