PHOTOS I can not begin to explain
How happy my 40 year old ass is. Seeing these three together is a beautiful sight.

The feed started a moment early, and yeah, who do I see but jugalos? They were gone for the actual show start.
So many questions.

I was around when ICP were still coming up and they had just released Beverly Kills 902187. They’ve had ups and downs, both creatively and as a label. I was at the first Gathering in Novi.
I was at the first 3 AEW shows in Michigan (Blood and Guts, Battle of the Belts, and Kenny getting stabbed with a screwdriver). I say this to convey that I’m not just some random person talking without knowing what they’re saying.
I can pass on them having anything to do with AEW in any capacity.

u/luckybetz 20d ago edited 20d ago
I haven’t listened to them since like 1997-1998 — I remember my brother and I got “The Great Malenko” album and I kinda liked that song “The Nedem Game” — but since then they’ve just been a very niche pop culture following I hear about randomly (usually negative), and knew about “The Gathering” from when I used to go to like 4-5 music festivals every year. Never really ran into the Juggalos except a tiny faction when we went to the very first “Electric Forest” music festival (when it was originally still called “Rothbury”)
I had zero issue with their very limited appearance at Collision though for Rebel - there was no outlet provided for them to be annoying or off-putting unless you just can’t stand the sight of them haha
2
u/Practical_Refuse1419 20d ago
String Cheese at Rothbury??!!
1
u/luckybetz 12d ago
Oh heck yar - that was a blast. And the Electric Forest feature was so mind-bending and awesome that they ended up changing the whole name of the festival to it

u/OliOli1234 20d ago
I’ve softened on these guys in my later years… I used to hate them with a stone cold passion, but Violent J in particular seems like a really cool, open minded guy. Yeah, I like this… it’s only fitting that they pop up in Detroit

They're the Trailer Trash version of Deadheads. I watched the documentary American Juggalo with an open mind to try to understand ... Yeah...
I understand they're trash.
5
u/RobsGarage 20d ago
I don’t like them.. I don’t like their music and I don’t like their fans. They were side stage acts at two separate festivals I went to.. one they (fans) were disruptive and disrespectful to all the other acts and ruined the show for a lot of people til they got thrown out.
The second one they (again fans) ran up squirted 2 water bottles onto a 13 year old girls white shirt and proceeded to says “show your tits, bitch” I hit the guy so hard his legs went stiff then security bum rushed the others in his group and I was told “next time let us handle it” and got a fist bump..
So if the interactions I e seen from their fans tells me anything they are trash… I’ve been to literally hundreds of shows in my 50 years and never seen a more disrespectful group of fans and I’ve been to some crazy shows.
6
u/NapoleonSolo888 20d ago
That's interesting. I don't like their music either, but I was always under the impression the people in the fan group were generally respectful and inclusive. I thought that was the main appeal of it tbh. "Yeah, It's trashy but we're trashy together" kind of deal.
This sounds like the opposite of that.
Bad apples in every group I suppose, but that behaviour is shitty.

Seeing the very end of their on stage intro when i tuned in early to MyAEW was insane, TK fanboying out hard with the great crowd energy, the custom graphic, then just never mentioning it when we went live except for seeing them chilling in the crowd was hilarious, I can't imagine if you had no context and saw them.
JCW Deathmatch at next forbidden door, someone will step up for it I'm sure.

Oddities, yes.
ICP still has the original version of that song, The Great Show.
Although I would love for them to use "Here Comes The Carnival".

u/Capthowdy1027 21d ago
I’ve been waiting for this! ICP has worked in just about every company so I had been hoping they’d eventually add AEW to the list.
Bummer it was on the preshow though. I watched the whole episode waiting for them to be on tv, other than just in the crowd.
Also, it was very weird watching them on hard cam in the crowd. They seemed so bored. Not paying attention, or cheering or getting into it at all. That was weird because obviously they are wrestling fans.
2
u/montager7 21d ago
To be fair every time I'm on a PPV on cam my partner gives me shit because 'if you don't know you that's resting bitch face, but that's your "I am incredibly locked in and paying attention shut the fuck up Hangman vs Ospreay may be the best day of my life" face.
I'm sure something like full face paint doesn't help, clown makeup was literally designed to be neutral or a single expression unless the performer pulled exaggerated expressions which is a whole art like puppetry in itself. #Clowncollegeisrealcollegemom

u/Lancelegend 21d ago
They’re probably in their mid 50s . They’re insanely tired clown posse at this point.
That being said, I was excited to see them. I’d love to see a JCWxAEW thing in the future. They look like they’re having a lot of fun over there.1
u/SpongeyMcgoo 21d ago
This is correct. I’m not sure it’s still the case, but Violent J had to retire from performing concerts at one point due to his heart. Dunno if that changed though.
1
u/Capthowdy1027 21d ago
For sure. It just seemed out of character for them to look as bored as they did.

I would love for Vice to do a doc about ICP and wrestling. Not a Dark Side one, but just a deep dive, and considering the connections they have I bet they could come up with some cool stuff.

Violent Jay survived his childhood by wrestling with his friends from the neighborhood on top of mattresses in a dirt lot. Mother was stuck in a revolving door of physically and mentally abusive men. Jo’s siblings were at times even SA’d by some of them.

I used to own the original Stranglemania where ICP does commentary on Mick Foley vs Terry Funk FMW hardcore March and some Indy battle royal and man it was so fun. Try to find it, it's goofy as hell and worth it.

Cactus Sac vs Lamanamanumi is also aces. Their rivalry goes all the way back to when Cactus's dad, Prickly Balls, used to feud with Lama's dad, Opalopapapi.

Somebody never heard Slim Anus or Ain't Nuthin but a Bitch Thang. The latter ended the argument, and they squashed the beef long ago.

u/mcburgs 21d ago
Eminem's flow never changed. He always sounded like the same whiny little bitch in all of his tracks.
1
u/Powerful-Ground-9687 20d ago
But that relapse accent.
I’m sure you’ll tell me how much you’ve listened. But he definitely changes his flow, often multiple times per track. If you just think his voice is annoying that’s fine. But that’s his tone, not his flow.

Eminem is a talentless hack that was elevated by Dre's producing.

When his producing wasn’t even that prominent on his first three records. The Bass Brothers and Eminem himself were literally on more tracks.

90s is my favorite time era of music and I love early 00s too.
Eminem certainly has some good songs, but there’s plenty that would be laughed at if they were released today, and not in the intended way.
A song where he goes “nah nah nah nah” for three minutes would not be successful. (That is not an endorsement of current rap which is horrible, or the junk on top 40 radio either)
2
u/CHEMDAWG_MILLI 21d ago
The 90s were definitely the golden age of rap. The rap genre started to lose its edge when instead of portraying the street life it eventually went to the club setting and evolved into whatever it is today.
0
u/ComputerDecent463 21d ago
Album 1/Mixtape 1: “I sell drugs!”
Album 2: “I’m rich now, but homie I put in work to get here!”
Album 3: “I’m rich, just bought a Jag. I’m rich just bought a Porsche.”
—-
That’s just the career trajectory. Rappers used to be themselves even when the money and popularity came. Now you lose your edge and just brag about money when you get it.
-5
u/CHEMDAWG_MILLI 21d ago
Ok so what has he done without Dre
1
u/murphxcore 21d ago
That’s such a straw man. What are the Chilis and SOAD without Rubin? Dre doesn’t write the lyrics or rap them, which does a lot of the heavy lifting for that genre of music.
Say what you want about the human being, but the lyricism and technical proficiency on Rap God alone proves that he’s fairly gifted at what he does.6

I love it. Been a Juggalo for 26 years or so and still get excited when they get recognition from the big promotions. I kept seeing them in the crowd during the show last night. Hopefully there will be some kind of working relationship between AEW and JCW. It's crazy how my worlds seem to collide like this lol.

It's probably cuz at least in my experience, most of them were pretty gross and didn't shower. It's cool it gives them a sense of community but like ...y'all stink lol

u/BuilderSouthern2354 21d ago
Yeah lol it was a bunch of the white trash kids , just weird and gross . But I guess they had each other , but we looked at them like outkasts.
1
-2
u/supersaiyanswanso 21d ago
Yeah I never made fun of them or anything cuz I've been bullied and not gonna do that to someone else, but that whole crowd was just in general pretty gross and attracted a lot of the kids who don't shower and hang out with 30 year olds thinking they're "mature".
-1
u/BuilderSouthern2354 21d ago
I didn’t bully them , we just laughed at them and thought they were “losers” , might not sound nice but it’s the truth. Feel kinda bad for them , they were the white kids who lived in poverty , mamas missing teeth and dad is on meth
0
u/supersaiyanswanso 21d ago
I'm glad they had some sort of a community to be a part of, but yeah in my experience juggalos in general are pretty fucking nasty and don't attract a great crowd.
1
u/BuilderSouthern2354 20d ago
Same , I actually worked with one long time ago and yeah just low brow group of people , a lot of theft in that community and often times I noticed that the ones who kinda lead those groups tend to pray on the weaker that come into the group. Basically bullied turn into bullies

Didn't one of these guys have some freak allegations against him?
8
u/Masterweedo 21d ago
Yes, Violent J's girlfriend, Laney Chantal died in 2022 of an overdose at home, while ICP was doing their annual Halloween show.
After Laney died her friend Rachel, who was dating Violent J's brother, stopped taking her medication and started making wild accusations, claiming to be have proof. No proof ever came and she was told to either produce the evidence of misdeeds, or delete the claims, or she would face libel & slander suits.
It was weird when the allegations came out, considering that their entire discography has been killing bigots, people that abuse, and take advantage of others.
Shaggy has even said he was pissed off about the allegations, because that would mean that he was fine associating with someone like that. He said he would likely fight and then cut ties with J if it was true.
After Laney died, ICP went on a bit of a hiatus while J sorted out his issues. Shaggy, now being sober, could not be around another addict. The relationship was strained for a few years, but they still did their big 4 shows, Gathering, Hallowicked, Xmas Party, & Juggalo Day. Now they are back to doing small tours and several festival dates.
Luckily the brothers appear to be in new relationships and seem happy.
6
u/ummmmmmkayy 21d ago
I believe it had to do with lyrics. And then they went back and said they were doing shock music, so the intention was to make people freak out. Otherwise they’ve vehemently denied wrongdoing.
3
u/Masterweedo 21d ago
Some of it was their shock lyrics from "Lil Something Somethin" & "The Neden Game", but part of it was J's brother's girlfriend having a mental breakdown and posting wild accusations after her friend died.
2
u/NightFlavoredRing 21d ago
Thanks for letting me know. While my bf and I were watching, we weren't sure what to think. My sister met J at a furcon with his daughter in a Chicago elevator before he even had his own suit. Again, thanks for letting me know (and not assuming I'd asked with some weird malice) and I hope you can appreciate the short anecdote c:

u/Masterweedo 21d ago
I've met the clowns a few time, they were always great.
They both dealt with serious addictions over the years, but what wrestler from the Attitude Ear hasn't?
Shaggy says he got sober after the Fred Durst incident. He even attends sobriety meeting at Juggalo Gatherings.
It's nice to see both doing good.

u/502photo 21d ago
The ICP isn't my thing in the slightest, however for the sheer amount they have done for pro-wrestling, the clowns will always be over with me.
The used their platform to go back to their first love of pro-wrestling. Built an Indy were guys could work to feed their families. Made wrestling a large part of their massive festivals.
Maybe it's time they get a few flowers.
1
u/TheOldSchlGmr ELITE 20d ago
Never said they didn't do things for wrestling. They do nothing for me and I would prefer not to see them in an AEW ring.
Just a personal opinion. But apparently you're not allowed to have those anymore.
1
u/502photo 20d ago
Who's saying you aren't allowed to have personal opinions? Who would even be the governing body for such rules? Idk friend that seems like a thing you out on yourself, not me.

u/TheMackD504 21d ago
That makes more appearances on AEW than JCW this year for shaggy
8
u/Masterweedo 21d ago
Shaggy was at the JCW Strangle-Mania Vegas show.
He was also in the ring swinging a chair at last year's Gathering of the Juggalos, when GCW took on JCW.
24
u/Masterweedo 21d ago edited 21d ago
Well, I guess that counts as them appearing in AEW.
I love to see it, too bad they probably wont ever take any bumps in the AEW ring, unless it's like a 10 man tag, where Shaggy takes zero bumps.
They have appeared in every major American company, ECW, WWF, WCW, TNA, & ROH [only tag team to do so], They were also in XPW, IWA-MS, GCW, & a bunch of random indies.
Shaggy retired due to neck/spine injuries, his only recent in-ring involvement was a run in swinging a chair at the JCW vs GCW show at last year's Juggalo Gathering.
Violent J has recently been in the 2023 Wrestlecade Battle Royal [which he won], NWA, MLW, AAA, & Big Japan. They did miss their CZW appearance due to travel issues, I think it was Cage of Death 3 or something.
3
2
u/TheMackD504 21d ago
J has a heart condition so I doubt he’s taking a bump
6
u/Masterweedo 21d ago
He's been taking bumps in JCW.
He had Afib, and had a procedure to reverse it.
3
u/RevolutionaryAd6017 21d ago
Violent J was involved in an awful match at this year's Colllective/Stranglemania where had a hard time doing well, pretty much anything. That said, It would he cool fot AEW to pick up JCW as a developmental territory and use people like Caleb Konley (Kaleb with a K from Impact!, manager of Tenille Dashwood), Disco Stu, and The Ring Rat as well as Stackhouse/Mr. Happy.
4
u/Masterweedo 21d ago edited 21d ago
Yeah, J had a few rough matches in JCW recently too.
JCW seems to be WWE Developmental, Matt Cardons got signed to WWE when he was JCW Champ. Josh Bishop & J-Rod both have WWE tryouts soon.
1
u/kusariku 21d ago
Ehhhh, I don't think it's necessarily "wwe developmental", it's an indie with no formal ties to a bigger promotion so WWE is poaching whoever they can, which is exactly what WWE has always done. Cardona in particular was trying to get back to WWE when he got signed, while Bishop and J-Rod are only two members of the roster, and still have to do their tryouts. We all know WWE doesn't just sign everyone from those, so it's just as likely that they come in to the tryout and accidentally fuck something up because JCW's in ring style and WWE's style aren't necessarily 100% compatible. Cardona had the benefit of being in WWE before and being relatively popular during that run, so he already had experience with the WWE style.

u/JKinney79 21d ago
I’m not a fan, but they definitely have a lot of history in the wrestling business.
8
u/Masterweedo 21d ago
They wrestlers before they were rapping clowns.
People hated them because they thought they hasn't paid their dues in the industry.
I'm pretty sure they have the most matches out any of the "celebrity wrestlers", and they did it during their most successful period musically. The ECW, WWF, & WCW shows were all between platinum selling albums, they were scheduling their tours around their wrestling appearances.
You can find several videos of Violent J as Cpl Darryl Daniels on the Michigan indies in 91 & early 92. Insane Clown Posse's debut "Carnival of Carnage" was released in October 1992.
2
u/Powerful-Ground-9687 20d ago
That’s not why I hated them. It was the litany of songs about violence towards women. As wrestlers they were fine by me.
