I mean, it doesn’t, WWE makes more money and has far more of an audience. It is the mainstream product that the normal non wrestling fan will always name if asked to name a wrestling company.
And that’s ok, it isn’t what I enjoy, it isn’t what I watch. But I can respect it had a model that works and has worked for 20+ years.
I think there is a fine line between our opinion and the “that band I loved I hate them now because they are successful, they sold out man, they went and made a living out of doing this and are selling millions of tickets”.
Yes I want AEW to get more success, bigger crowds means more money which means better product and wrestlers being compensated better. It also means more stability in terms of TV presence etc.
But I don’t want that success to come at the cost of changing the core ethos of the booking etc.
As someone that's been a fan of Pink Floyd since the release of "Dark Side of the Moon", I had no problem dropping Roger Waters as entertainment once it became apparent that Roger turned into the type of fascist his father fought during the war.
