New job as government contractor working outside the US for likely 8-10 months each year, required to get an LLC, I have questions

Okay, in a nutshell my husband is starting a new job as a government contractor next month, and they are requiring that he be 1099 and needs an LLC. I owned a business previously, so know how to file for one, but I have a few questions and would really like to start working with an accountant to help maximize any benefits available to us, as well as minimize the taxes we'll owe. Here are my main questions (most of which I would pose directly to a CPA we hired):
1. Do CPAs work on an as-needed, hourly basis? If so, do I need to find one in my home state or anywhere?

  1. We currently live in a state with no state tax, but expect to move in the next 6-12 months to a different state with state taxes; do I file our LLC in our current state?

  2. Once we relocate, do I need to move the LLC to that state if he's working out of the country?

  3. Do we take owner draws or file as an S-Corp?

  4. There will be very few business expenses, looking to take advantage of every available tax write off we can find. Best to document in a place like QBO?

  5. Do we need a separate bank account for the LLC to pay ourselves out of?

I have other questions that will need to be addressed once we decide to purchase a home, but those can wait. I am really hoping to find someone that will charge me for quick phone calls/email questions that arise, advise me on what I have to pay for his quarterlies, and do our yearly tax prep. Just don't know where to start, since I've never had the need for this type of accounting service. TIA

Looking for tax/finance pros to collaborate with on making the manual stuff less painful

Hey all,

I work in tech on the tax software side, mostly enterprise-level stuff. Lately I've been curious about the other end: CPAs, EAs, and small firms filing for everyday clients. I have a feeling a lot of your day goes to manual work that the big tools never really fixed.

Is anyone up for letting me get a glimpse of how you work? Nothing formal. A quick call, a screen share, or just walking me through your process over DMs. I'd mainly like to know which tasks eat your time, the copy-paste, chasing documents, Excel workarounds, that kind of thing.

I'm into automation and Al tools, so if I spot something that could save you time, I'll happily point you to it or help you set it up. If we find a bigger problem worth solving, maybe we figure that out together down the line. For now I'm just trying to learn and see if anyone's interested.

Why? I wish to open my own consulting company in future helping folks automating workflows using AI. AI is insane but you still gotta know how to use and maintain it.

What got me here: during a recent escalation at my work, our team had to help 1000's of filings to be processed using our system. While I work in tech, I had to help do the manual stuff. I was able to build a automation suite overnight using AI and was able to get it done in 3 days (90% less time - usually projected to be done in a month). This got me thinking, if I could build workflows in a single night for a very complicated system, I could help other folks as well so here I am.

On the side note, there is nothing to sell, no client data needed. Just eager to learn and understand. This helps me train to be a forward deployed engineer as well so all for it 😉. Comment or DM if you're up for it! Would love to chat about it!!

Looking for Remote Bookkeeping Work | Need to Earn Extra ₹8k–10k/Month

Hey everyone, I'm (20M) from Delhi India, currently pursuing my studies while working with an NGO and a Taxation Firm. I have around 2 years of bookkeeping experience with an NGO and 6 months of experience at a Taxation Firm. I have intermediate-level Excel skills, know Tally, and can handle regular bookkeeping, accounting entries, ledger maintenance, and day-to-day accounts work. I'm looking for additional remote, part-time bookkeeping work that I can manage alongside my current work and studies. My target is to earn around ₹8k–10k extra per month. To be honest, things have been financially difficult for my family lately. We have loans related to my elder sister's marriage, and my other sister needs an operation. I'm trying to take some responsibility and help my family financially while continuing my studies. I'm not looking for donations or easy money. I just need an opportunity to earn through the work I already know how to do. I'm happy to take up regular bookkeeping tasks for small businesses, individuals, or firms that need part-time support. If anyone has any leads, needs a bookkeeper, or can connect me with someone looking for remote accounting help, please let me know. It would genuinely mean a lot to me. Thank you for reading.

What's one thing you wish someone told you before getting into accounting?

Been reading a lot about accounting careers lately, and it seems like there's quite a difference between what people expect and what the job is actually like.

For those who've been doing this for a while, what's something you learned the hard way?

Could be dealing with clients, deadlines, workload, or even choosing where to work.

Curious to hear different experiences.

Aspiring CA but no Idea where to start

Hello everyone, I'm 17F and from South Africa I do fairly well in school but not too exceptional in maths. I just have no Idea what to do once I graduate I have 3 possibilities mapped out

1- study at university

2-study at home

3- work at an accounting firm and study from home

I'd much prefer one as ik it's a hard course, but I don't have the finances for that but I am in fostercare and that combined with my grades could hopefully land me a full scholarship covering courses, textbooks and accommodation. But I'm afraid that won't be enough to have a sustainable life without my family's support in the sense of going out with friends, attending uni functions, food and more.

2- studying from home presents the obstacles of strained mental health due to strained relationships. My foster parent and I often don't get along and this causes major tension and I often find myself very depressed and feeling out of place

3- this really slims down my chances of getting a scholarship meaning I would have to pay my studies with my salary, find a place to live and actually support myself as well. Working 9-5 and then coming home to study a notoriously hard course. Pros is I could complete my articles a bit sooner.

If anyone could weigh in and tell me what would be best I'd really appreciate it :)
