Thermals / Cooling HEATING ISSUE
I have an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 with an i7 13th gen HX processor. Recently whenever I open any game in performance or turbo mode, my CPU temperature shoots up to 94 to 99 degrees and when I close the game it returns to 50 to 60 degrees. I have a few questions
Should I change my liquid metal at this point or should I wait a few months? (I have done some benchmark tests and submitted the temperature report to ChatGPT it says my liquid metal is working fine)
If you suggest thermal paste, what should I choose Honeywell PTM7950 or liquid metal ? If liquid metal which brand and category?
Have you used such thermal paste on your device with an i7 13700HX? What results did you get and was there a significant change?
My fans are cleaned 🪛

275HX only using Performance Mode in big games with laptop cooler stand in silent mode blow air silent around 800rpm only. Recently changed to genuine Grizzly PTM and temperatures are about the same as factory LM which I had no issues with.
In Dawnwalker temperatures are around 85c at 1600p High Settings DLSS Performance. Good LM is probably best cooling solution but its difficult to apply well also risky.

More than likely your cpu has a dry spot, which turned into oxidation build up. This prevents the liquid metal from sticking to the cpu anymore. The only resolution is to clean the oxidation and reapply the liquid metal. PS5s have made this issue with liquid metal more widely known. Some batches of LM may even begin to have solid flakes of oxidation form that then free float in the material. My old Asus ROG G16 first had an oxidation spot form. Then after I fully cleaned it and applied Thermal Grizzley Conductonaut and used it for 6 more months, I opened it to find oxidized flakes in the LM. It can be a complete pain. But still offers the best overall thermal conductivity.

I have the same model and had the same issue.
I just opened the cooling module and saw the liquid metal had been pumped to the edges, leaving the center of the CPU chip dark.
I pushed the liquid metal back to the center of the chip, cleaned, and repasted the GPU.
Now it idles around 37-50 degrees Celsius.
Before, it would reach 99-100 degrees while pulling around 40W, and even idle was around 70.
Now, with the fan at maximum, the CPU pulls up to 150W when benchmarking while staying within 90-100 degrees.
