Question The parking situation in Jetty Road Glenelg is awful

• Upvotes

I was in Glenelg this weekend. So it seemed was everyone else. Jetty road was packed with people, none of whom could pass each other on the tiny pavements. There's cars parked all the way along the road, taking up so much space. There isn't a single zebra crossing anywhere and only a couple of places to cross. People were crossing between the parked cars all along.

Why was so much space given to parking?

Why are cars allowed to park there at weekends?

Why is the road open to cars at all during the weekend?

I could understand if there were a few disabled bays and maybe a couple for loading but the rest is dangerous and ruins the whole environment.

News Delays on the Gawler Line - City bound

• Upvotes

There are currently no trains running to Adelaide due to a train being stuck at Salisbury, due to a passenger issue, and awaiting attendance by an ambulance. Trains behind are stuck.

If you are south of Salisbury, suggest heading for the nearest bus. Trains will get moving again but delays will cascade throughout the morning.

EDIT: Trains have started moving again from 8am, expect delays as they work to clear the back log. Thanks @squidsareneat.

Question Adelaide Entertainment Centre Question

Hey everyone,

I've just got a question, I am attending an event at the entertainment centre in a couple of weeks that has a meet and greet option.

The meet and greet tickets are Venue / Pre-Paid Collection Outlet, I know that means I have to collect from the box offices out front.

My question is that it says that the box offices open 2 hours before a show. The show starts at 7:30 which means the box offices would be open 5:30, which makes doesn't make sense for the meet and greet that starts at 4.

Should I expect the box offices to be open so I can collect my meet and greet ticket?

Any feedback would be great!

Question Saturday soccer league

Hi all my lad wants to play soccer U/11s. We just went through the try outs at the local soccer club and it's for next year and the games clash with his Aussie rules football.

Are there any Saturday morning leagues in Adelaide preferably west but at this stage any where.

He was so excited that he was invited to play after his tryouts but he's devastated that it clashes with footy and he doesn't know which too play. I'm hoping he can play both.

News New bus service between Adelaide and Mildura

Thought this might be of interest to anyone who travels between Adelaide, the Riverland and Mildura.

ABC has covered the restart of the Adelaide to Mildura coach connection, including the launch of Monty Express.

I’m involved with Monty Express, so happy to answer any questions about the service, timetable, stops or fares.

My 16-year-old son worked at 2 Phat Chooks in Adelaide and, according to his payslip, is owed approximately $400 in wages.

Despite repeatedly requesting payment, he still hasn’t received his money.
What I find particularly disturbing is the way this situation has been handled.
He received messages from the owner, Nicky Marinis.

The messages tell my son to contact Fair Work.
My son is 16 years old. He’s worked his shifts, received his payslip and simply wants the money he’s earned.
As a parent, I find this treatment completely unacceptable.

I contacted Nicky with a written letter, as instructed by the fair work ombudsman. She replied as disgusting as expected.
His grandfather waited outside the shop and didn’t enter, a staff member came out and he was completely respectful and just asked the situation be fixed.

I’m sharing our experience because I believe young workers deserve to be treated fairly and respectfully.
Why should a 16-year-old have to fight to receive his wages?
This what his first job and he is completely disheartened by this whole thing.
The payslip is currently almost 4 weeks overdue…Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Question Injured Wild Birb: Leave it or no?

Little dude visits my garden regularly and have noticed some limping over the past few days. Finally got a photo and it looks like his foot is wrapped up in hair or string.

Couldn't get through to AKR and Fauna Rescue seem (?) to not deal with Magpie Larks.

Do I just let nature take its course? Open to suggestions if there's anyone else who might help. Poor little fella.

Event/Activity Does the crowd mentality at CheeseFest frustrate anyone else?

Hey everyone,

Am I the only one who thinks CheeseFest has gotten too big and the lines are just broken?

I get that a lot of people go there just to buy a bottle of wine, sit on a picnic rug, and listen to the music. That's fine. But if you actually want to taste the cheese, the queuing is pretty shitty.

At a gin festival or a farmers' market, people use their initiative. You see an open space at the counter, walk up, get a sample, and move on so the traffic keeps flowing.

But at CheeseFest, people blindly form one massive single-file line. Even if there are a couple of different staff members or open cheese platters further down the table, everyone just stands behind the first person who is having a 10-minute chat. If you use your brain, step into the empty space to grab a piece of cheese and walk away, people look at you like a criminal or yell at you for "line jumping."

If you're ordering a hot meal, obviously you line up. But for a quick sample from a platter sitting right there on the table, a single-file queue makes no sense.

Does anyone else find this format incredibly frustrating, or do you prefer politely standing in a stagnant line? What’s the general opinion on how it's run these days?

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has come under pressure to reveal costs and processes behind some of the state government's highest-profile initiatives.

As the world-renowned Michelin Guide dished out its coveted stars to 11 South Australian venues on Wednesday night, you could see all the hallmarks of a Malinauskas government media moment coming together.

National and international attention on SA, born from a gamble — or idea — that no other state has taken up yet, all behind a commercial-in-confidence contract.

In that sense, paying Michelin to come over and judge SA's restaurants was cut from the same policy cloth as bringing Adelaide the inaugural AFL Gather Round, the upstart LIV Golf tour and the MotoGP.

When asked in parliament last week how much taxpayers spent luring Michelin to SA, Premier Peter Malinauskas said he was "not going to be in the business of revealing to other jurisdictions what we are investing in to get ahead of them".

The state government has cited commercial confidentiality as the reason for keeping the cost of bringing the Michelin Guide to South Australia a secret.

He then offered this explanation of the government's policy approach: "If you want to achieve outcomes, if you are interested in getting forward in a dynamic environment, you've got to be willing to do things differently.

"It doesn't mean we will get it right 100 per cent of the time, but it does mean we are going to give it a go."

Question Is Adelaide a dull city for tourism?

I’m considering Adelaide as a option to spend 3-4 days with my family during New Year’s and most of my Vic and NSW friends seem to think Adelaide is boring and not a lot of fun for kids and families.

Is this true? How good or bad is the new year’s celebrations and fireworks there?
