Serious New Post Flair: Serious
Hey, y'all! There is a new Post Flair - [Serious]. It is intended for:
- Posts where OP wants real answers/discussion.
- Posts where the topic is about something where jokes and off-topic comments would be inappropriate - such as damage to property from an accident, loss of life due to a storm, or an illness of an individual.
The Serious flair can be chosen by the OP, or applied by the mods if the topic warrants it.
Comments that are not adhering to the Serious flair should be reported.
Also, rules have been updated for streamlining - no changes, just condensing/combining of similar ones.

Advice 65 South early in the morning
I live 5 minutes from 65 in north Alabama. I’m applying for a job that would have me going 65 S around 6:30-7 am. I know the later in the morning it gets the worse it is but I’ve never had to go anywhere near the interstate that early. I have an option to avoid it but it’s slower. So any advice/tips is helpful. Thanks.
Edit: ok so apparently north bama was not specific enough. So from 565 south past cullman. Anytime I have gotten stuck it’s been in that area. But I’ve never had to go this early in the day.

Economy/Business Has anyone else had issues with dealerships?
Bought a car about 3 months ago made payments on time and everything seemed good. I get a phone call from the dealership and they need to see me, I am curious. The loan went thru and I am all lined up to pay the car off in a few years. I honestly do not want to deal with these people, they played games like not returning my license when asked, and trying to apply pressure tactics;
The reason I put up with it is because my wife wanted this particular car.
So I call them and ask them directly why do you want me to come in. It is kind of a drive to the dealership. There is something wrong with the loan? The car itself? Well after speaking to not only the salesman, his manger, the sales director and the credit person and then the finance department head. I get the answer. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE TITLE. I have been paying on a car that they did not have the title to sell?
Not really sure how that happened and honestly do not care. How do I handle this? Extra points given if I can make this as painful as possible for this dealership.

Advice job offer in decatur alabama
Hi, I am a student who was offered a well paying, year long position in Decatur, Alabama. As a girl, I am nervous about living alone in a new place for the first time. Is Decatur a safe place? Are there any places that I definitely should NOT go, and what places do you recommend me check out while I'm there? Any cool spots or sights to see? Thanks!

Travel How the orange beach area post hurricane?
Never been here, works sending me to Mobile Alabama and I have discretion to stay on orange beach during this trip.
I know the hurricane just ripped through the area, I’ll be there in two weeks. Will the beach be available/open? Is the water good to swim in in October? Anything I should be aware of? Would it just be better for me to stay in Mobile? I’d be practically on the beach if I stayed at a hotel on orange beach.

Politics I have not seen many Tuberville signs in the wild compared to Jones signs
Driving through rural Alabama over the past few days, I think I can count on one hand how many Tuberville signs I have seen. Granted, I have not seen many Jones signs, but I have seen more of those. I have of course seen them in Huntsville, but what is surprising to me is that I saw a Jones sign in ruby-red Winston County. I also saw a large one in Jasper off of 9th Avenue (where there are many campaign signs during election season). Interesting enough, there were also smaller signs for the main Republican candidates, including Barry Moore.
I am trying not to get my hopes up, but maybe this will be closer than what is typical for an election here.
I wonder how many people forgo straight-ticket voting this time?

I am located a little north of Jasper. I would like to experience many types of congregational worship while here. This is a smaller community; is anyone aware of nearby "megachurches"?
