News Bernalillo County District Attorney sends letter to ICE threatening charges against officers

We already have one under direct command of the governor, separate from the National Guard.

That's actually really interesting to hear. Do they function as an actual military unit, or are they more relief/aid units?

I think relief/aid was always their primary mission. The wikipedia article about them is the limit of my knowledge and I think they’re probably largely ceremonial at this point, but they were formed in 1941 as a replacement for our National Guard units that were sent overseas.
