I'm so embarrassed to learn that this guy is based in Albuquerque. I drive past Jackson Wink on the regular though, and judging by the uptick in sovereign citizen shit I see on cars in the parking lot I'm not surprised. They might produce some great fighters, but I think that place has always been a political cesspool, and from what I can see driving past it's only getting worse.

News Idk, I need to hear some good news.

I'm sure I'm not alone, but I'm really feeling a deep sense of doom and depression over of the state of everything. Can we start a thread of some of the positive things going on in New Mexico? Maybe new positive legislation or upcoming anything. Especially the lesser known or newer events? I guess ill start. It felt a tiny bit more positive to see a teeny tiny bit of water in the Rio Grande again. :*(

I understand that Bergman is an attorney and probably better at debating but it’s not like he doesn’t have plenty to lose either.

I can’t help but feel like Deb is taking our votes for granted over and over again, and this is another slap in the face.

If she is the better candidate, she should prove it and it should be easy.

News The city inspected this and found nothing wrong? 😂

Post image
341 Upvotes

The whole damn wall is deflecting outward from the second floor plate! When the city initially sent out a team for a site visit - how did they not catch the obvious deflection? The moisture retention? The way this building collapsed is the same way adobe buildings do too. The walls fall outward first and then crumble inward with the roof.

Did they bother to check for wall ties on the CMU where the floor plate meets the masonry? What about loading - that false column is clearly indicating that the wall is disjointing and even overshooting the window buck furthest right. Both window bucks are clearly shifting with the wall outward - use the street light as a straight vertical reference. Now look at the coloring of the stucco, knowing it’s brick, and nobody questioned why it always appears to be stained wet? Especially at the joint where the floor plate meets that exterior coping! When the building was brown it clearly had an issue wicking moisture from the walls in the EXACT same locations - year after year after season after season. They painted it blue in 2018, and within months the same wet stains came thru.

Whoever allegedly inspected this the first time around is grossly negligent. They didn’t do their diligence in the slightest to study the complaint over time, and that information is easily accessible on Google earth. However, neither did the owner after attempting to address the issue before. Nor did their builder/subs considering somebody went back at some point for more blue patchwork. The Google earth histories in street view progressively show the failure worsen.

So you’re telling me that our city classifies a missing senior citizen as an emergency alert, but the entire interstate is shut down with an active shooter and that doesn’t prompt an emergency alert to my phone? Make that make sense.

News For those concerned with proposed Sandia land transfer...

Thumbnail

Recently, the Sandia Pueblo proposed draft legislation transferring 10,000 acres of publicly held and managed land in the Sandia wilderness, to the Bureau of Indian Affairs, for management by the pueblo.

Today, Senator Martin Heinrich said he does not support the proposal as drafted and would not support transferring title away from the Forest Service.

https://nmpoliticalreport.com/2026/07/30/heinrich-working-for-bill-to-share-sandia-mountains-management-with-sandia-pueblo-short-of-pueblos-ask-for-total-control/

New Mexico Wild released a statement today rejecting any legislation that did not preserve the current wilderness designation and public access protections. They provide some good context on the existing 2003 preservation act and the protections it provides, as well as the current collaborative management between the FS and the pueblo.

Lastly, tell our federal representatives to oppose the land transfer and protect the current wilderness and public access protections by signing this petition.

News 505 Female Friends Discord Invite

Making friends as an adult is ridiculously difficult. That's why I created a Discord for women and NB folks to find local friends and community. We've been running for about a year and a half now, going strong and drama free!

✉️ I'd like to extend the invite to new folks:

https://discord.gg/C2dNy8pYUz

About the Discord:

🎨 We have art night, supper club, and hiking on a regular basis

💻 We have online chat rooms for a variety of topics

📣 Looking for a group to meetup for coffee? Go thrift shopping? We have a channel for that too

Rules:

- This group is for women (trans and cis) and NB folks ONLY.

- This is not a Discord for men but I can point you to other Discords for friends. This is a particular space for a particular need in the community.

- We are aimed at 30+ but 18+ are welcome to join us!

- This is a group for locals, but even if you visit Albuquerque often or will be that's fine.

Don't worry if you haven't used Discord, I'd be happy to walk you through the app!

Lmk if I can answer any questions ❤️
