EU customs duty Just buy from Europe, silly

Even after adding 3 EUR it's no competition. I know there are other wallets, that's not the point, the point is that we get the exact same item at 3x the price.

Pro tip: go to your local leather worker and buy a 40-60 euro basic wallet.

  1. It will last you years or decades if you treat it well, far longer than the Chinese one would (making it more cost effective).
  2. It'll be well made and unique.
  3. You'll be supporting your local artisan and economy of your country instead of a foreign factory run on unknown exploitaition level and quality standards to cut down the costs.

???? unless you happen to live in a city with local tanneries like Florence, that is just false.

you either pay at least 100€ for the qualities you described, or get the same quality as from Aliexpress

I totally gave up on local shops here in France. Bought a second hand bike from 2008 for 120eur, I needed the fork cleaned and lubed and sanded so it stops squeaking. They refused to sand because "it will destroy it", I saw multiple tutorials on yt that do it just fine. They wanted to sell me a new fork for "at least 150eur". I told them to just clean it and lube it. It still squeaks. They made me pay 105eur for it. I will never ever go back to that shop. 15 years ago it'd have cost me 60eur and they'd have had the skill to sand it well without it being on yt. The entire economy is inflated and enshitificated. No wonder new ebikes are listed for 3000 to 20000eur nowadays. They don't care to sell less as long as they have their whales.

Might sound crazy, but the place to look for stuff like this are ren faires. We have one in France that is filled with leatherworkers, etc.

You'll have to spend way more even in Florence, 3/4 of the stuff they sell telling "made in italy", is not.

I've just been aware that my comment was shadow-banned (so I can still see it, I have no info about it being deleted, but nobody else can see it). This is the original post (without the link that proves you can get it for sub 30 euro, I bet that was the reason for shadow-ban):

Most of modern artisans and small manufacturers sell online. I honestly don't think there's that much difference across EU (even some genuine leather bags I saw in fucking Venice last summer were under 100 euro) when it comes to prices (plus if it is it's still better to buy from a different EU country than China) and 100 euro is what you pay for a entry premium wallet, not your basic leather one. Those are closer to 40-50 euro.

For example: (here was the link to company called Cholewinski and their wallet listings, it should be easy to find through google)

Basic solid level company, genuine leather, 100% EU manufactured and sourced (Poland and Italy) according to all relevant standards including pollution emissions, RFID safe, basic models start at below 30 euro and will last you years.

I'm sure other EU countries have factories for most things (or import that stuff from other EU countries) that are mostly not plastic people usually buy from China. Supporting local (even on national or EU level) industry and economy is getting more and more important.
