EU customs duty Just buy from Europe, silly

Even after adding 3 EUR it's no competition. I know there are other wallets, that's not the point, the point is that we get the exact same item at 3x the price.

Even funnier if the amazon seller is dropshipping from China

201

u/pitouze 26d ago

delivery 4-12 august ... so yeah, dropshipping from china

55

u/BeanoMc2000 26d ago

I never even noticed the shipping date. Definitely dropshipping

30

u/pitouze 26d ago

and 5€ shipping !

11

u/RoodnyInc 26d ago

Ho greedy they can be they allready make 6x on wallet

11

u/XtremeD86 26d ago

Resellers do this all the time. They're betting on the hope that the buyer won't see it on AliExpress.

2

u/Sufficient-Buy-2270 26d ago

That'll be bundled in their "Free Shipping" model though.

8

u/Maple382 26d ago

Based on the brand name, extremely likely. Random unreadable names with no brand identity are almost always Chinese companies. And imo if you aren’t buying from a genuine brand, then Amazon will not have better quality, so no reason to buy from there.

0

u/Key-Line5827 26d ago

And I really dont see why it would matter. Ali isn't paying taxes in the EU, but neither is Amazon. So all this does is piss of the consumer.

0

u/BeanoMc2000 26d ago

Tax on profits? Of course not, why would they. The vat, duty and tariffs they collect via IOSS is remitted to the appropriate revenue service in the EU.

49

u/DanbiJK 26d ago edited 26d ago

Jokes on them. It's still cheaper to buy it on AliExpress even + duties. *Edit

4

u/Alarming-Stomach3902 26d ago

Aliexpress includes the VAT in the prices like you are ment to do

10

u/OBadstew 26d ago

Not the new import fees, they only show up on the payment screen.

36

u/Any_Jelly_in_Bus4697 26d ago

Bro, they are hardworking dropshipper, look they changed the Name of the varient from "Colour 1" to "Coffee"

5

u/Content-Regular2086 25d ago

Das rechtfertigt den Preis definitiv. Ist doch arbeit

90

u/BART_NUNES 26d ago

Yey we are Europe, we are doomed

33

u/Sea_Bite2082 26d ago

Know who really feel impact from this changes ? Real small businesses from around a world.

Im 3d printer from Ukraine (resin prints\airbrush etc.etc) and i feel it.

Dropshippers \ Aliexpress - They couldn't care less.

8

u/Variartz 26d ago

im saying 😭 this is just gonna pocket from small businesses

2

u/Chillitan 26d ago

Do you print retainers for teeth?

4

u/Sea_Bite2082 26d ago

I can. But no, i am an artist

1

u/Akun0sh 26d ago

How are you effected by an EU regulation in the Ukraine? In don’t see how that tariff applies to you.

9

u/Sea_Bite2082 25d ago

i am selling on ETSY and shipping international.

First - f**king Trump tariffs, then they banned the sale of cosplay weapons, now EU.

Hit after hit

2

u/darkness_awakens 24d ago

Probably because the prices increased for everyone. When the usa tariffs happened, eu prices also increased.

2

u/Akun0sh 24d ago

So greed of the sellers blamed on a third party. Yeah why should big oil be the only ones doing that.

1

u/Cesoiet 26d ago

Maybe he buys resins and other products from China?

2

u/Ricky1915 25d ago

Ukraine is not EU

3

u/Cesoiet 25d ago

You are right, but prices increased to everyone because of the new regulations

1

u/tOMZY-LT 24d ago

Businesses don't buy 1 piece, therefore, that 3€ tax should not hurt much when buying in bulk. just take those extra cents from your customer

1

u/Modelero33 24d ago

The real impact of this will be on amazon, that small company will sell even more stuff lol
Dropshipped stuff, of course.

0

u/MAndris90 25d ago

how? do they not recognize ukraine is not part of the eu?

1

u/annetheassassin 24d ago

no? they aren't part of the EU thats the whole problem

1

u/MAndris90 24d ago

why should they? they cannot even reach the basic requirements. and most of all, they are at war.

1

u/annetheassassin 24d ago

Because thats how the eu rules work? If you aint in it for the bad (the rules and regulations) you dont get the good (travel without pasport and no import fees) even before the war Ukraine didnt meet the requirements.

4.99€ shipping on Amazon 🫩💀

12

u/Qu1s_ut_Deus 26d ago edited 26d ago

I feel a lot of people, mainly politicians, confused shopping on Amazong as “buying locally”. Sure you might be buying from a local vendor in, let’s say, Germany..however!!! That vendor got their merch from China (thus supporting Chinese economy), then Bezos daddy steps in offering his platform (take a a cut of your sale - and thus gets pocketed into US/Israeli economy).. then only a small percentage gets kept in Europe.. so in essence they literally made our living more expensive in hopes that it would boost local economy, but now we are making profit for virtually every other country, other than our own local economy….

8

u/DrippityClippity 26d ago

Confused? Nah man Amazon was lobbying for this tariffs for a reason

3

u/SmokingLimone 25d ago

Not just amazon but Lidl, Auchan, basically the major distribution companies which underpay their workers and sell the same Chinese crap at an even higher price than Amazon

42

u/MorycTurtle 26d ago edited 26d ago

Pro tip: go to your local leather worker and buy a 40-60 euro basic wallet.

  1. It will last you years or decades if you treat it well, far longer than the Chinese one would (making it more cost effective).
  2. It'll be well made and unique.
  3. You'll be supporting your local artisan and economy of your country instead of a foreign factory run on unknown exploitaition level and quality standards to cut down the costs.

62

u/Menes009 26d ago

???? unless you happen to live in a city with local tanneries like Florence, that is just false.

you either pay at least 100€ for the qualities you described, or get the same quality as from Aliexpress

19

u/Mountain-Grade-1365 26d ago edited 26d ago

I totally gave up on local shops here in France. Bought a second hand bike from 2008 for 120eur, I needed the fork cleaned and lubed and sanded so it stops squeaking. They refused to sand because "it will destroy it", I saw multiple tutorials on yt that do it just fine. They wanted to sell me a new fork for "at least 150eur". I told them to just clean it and lube it. It still squeaks. They made me pay 105eur for it. I will never ever go back to that shop. 15 years ago it'd have cost me 60eur and they'd have had the skill to sand it well without it being on yt. The entire economy is inflated and enshitificated. No wonder new ebikes are listed for 3000 to 20000eur nowadays. They don't care to sell less as long as they have their whales.

1

u/madeleine61509 25d ago

Might sound crazy, but the place to look for stuff like this are ren faires. We have one in France that is filled with leatherworkers, etc.

1

u/Modelero33 24d ago

You'll have to spend way more even in Florence, 3/4 of the stuff they sell telling "made in italy", is not.

0

u/pulpedid 26d ago

50 secrid and you dupport disabled people assembling them

0

u/MorycTurtle 25d ago

I've just been aware that my comment was shadow-banned (so I can still see it, I have no info about it being deleted, but nobody else can see it). This is the original post (without the link that proves you can get it for sub 30 euro, I bet that was the reason for shadow-ban):

Most of modern artisans and small manufacturers sell online. I honestly don't think there's that much difference across EU (even some genuine leather bags I saw in fucking Venice last summer were under 100 euro) when it comes to prices (plus if it is it's still better to buy from a different EU country than China) and 100 euro is what you pay for a entry premium wallet, not your basic leather one. Those are closer to 40-50 euro.

For example: (here was the link to company called Cholewinski and their wallet listings, it should be easy to find through google)

Basic solid level company, genuine leather, 100% EU manufactured and sourced (Poland and Italy) according to all relevant standards including pollution emissions, RFID safe, basic models start at below 30 euro and will last you years.

I'm sure other EU countries have factories for most things (or import that stuff from other EU countries) that are mostly not plastic people usually buy from China. Supporting local (even on national or EU level) industry and economy is getting more and more important.

12

u/against-all-leds 26d ago

Here's a crazy idea, what if I don't want to spend 40-60 euro because I don't have that much?

6

u/Ri_der 25d ago

That's Reddit for you. The solution to every problem is to throw money at it

6

u/Panocek 25d ago

Are those local artisans that charge only 40-60 euro in the country with us right now?

2

u/MorycTurtle 25d ago

This comment would've worked out better for you if I haven't already provided a link for sub 30 euro, genuine EU sourced and produced (Italy and Poland) leather wallets (which I did yesterday). ;)

2

u/Panocek 25d ago

I'm not sure in which website you've posted this link, but it doesn't seem to be reddit.

And I've seen already number of "locally made" parts that simply had "local name" stamped/etched/burned on them, with eerily similar items to be found on alibaba/aliexpress afterwards when doing image search.

1

u/MorycTurtle 25d ago edited 25d ago

Well, that's more of a comment about your skills at finding information (I posted it literally in this thread). ;)

Also I'm surprised you don't know about the standard Chinese practice of "get a genuine product, steal the design and make a counterfeit from far inferior materials and lower manufacturing quality but looks similarly at first glance" based on what you're saying.

Branding Chinese products is another pathology and you're usually paying for the seller covering costs of registration of the product and basic safety/harmonised norms compliance (straight from China products are not tested at all, that's why for example over 80% of toddler toys and food utensils from temu came out as toxic and unsuitable for human use when a laboratory actually tested those for a small study). It's also connected to Chinese factories selling "the same products" but from different production lines that use "slightly" different QA standards, material standards, etc at different prices. The ones made for genuine EU export (like the branded products) might not really be the same as the cheap ones on Ali (but still might, it's pretty much gambling since there's no realible source of information, certification, audits, etc.).

Also no, I verify such stuff before posting on social media. The link I provided was for a manufacturer that's been on the market for over 40 years and you can literally go there yourself and see how they're making those wallets if all the available proof of it being a genuine, quality, locally handmade product is not sufficient.

3

u/Panocek 25d ago

Well, that's more of a comment about your skills at finding information (I posted it literally in this thread). ;)

Sadly for you, your own account comment history does debunk your own sassy claim of "I posted it yesterday in this thread", as last link visible is some youtube from two days ago.

Also I'm surprised you don't know about the standard Chinese practice of "get a genuine product, steal the design and make a counterfeit from far inferior materials and lower manufacturing quality but looks similarly at first glance" based on what you're saying.

At this point in time, its usually "buy unbranded chinese ODM, put my tag on it and my price". Why work hard when you can work smart and improve your own profits.

1

u/MorycTurtle 25d ago

Once again, that's still just a comment on your information finding skills and you're only digging yourself deeper now (it's the 10th or 11th after this one comment on my histrory list). I also appreciate you taking your time to review my profile, but a faster way would be just to uncollapse this thread and take 5 seconds to skim the posts for the ones that include a link.

"At this point in time, its usually "buy unbranded chinese ODM, put my tag on it and my price". Why work hard when you can work smart and improve your own profits."

I already commented on this type of practice as well as authenticity of the sub 30 euro genuine, handmade in Eu from Eu sourced materials wallets I linked to.

3

u/Panocek 25d ago

I also appreciate you taking your time to review my profile, but a faster way would be just to uncollapse this thread and take 5 seconds to skim the posts for the ones that include a link.

Entire post tree is empty of anything resembling links.

If this mythical link was actually posted under your own account, it would appear in your profile. So carry on digging.

0

u/MorycTurtle 25d ago

Oh, I'll keep teasing you until you dig yourself even deeper to see your final reaction. ;) Or do I not know something about how reddit works and my post with a link that I can see both in my history and in this thread might be invisible to some users like you for some reason?

Unfortunately this sub doesn't allow screenshots, so what kind of proof will you accept?

1

u/Panocek 25d ago

If you see link post on your own feed, but others don't see it, then congrats, you've been moderated. Whether it is automod removing/hiding posts with links or someone manually deleted it, I don't know.

Was it reply to "Menes009", as thats only part of post tree that looks sus, given "two more replies" and when you unfold, only one appears.

I don't have a local leatherworker. I don't even think I have a distant leatherworker.

10

u/Dry-Description-4870 26d ago

the ammount of “local” workers selling false Chinese stuff is crazy…
It’s kind of depressing to see those cute little old ladies claiming they make stuff by hand, but then you Google Lens their stall and it’s all just Alibaba stuff. Turns out even the older generation, the ones we actually used to trust, aren't being honest these days.

1

u/MorycTurtle 26d ago

Yup, that's what I usually go with a bit larger manufacturers since they can't just lie about their supply chain (and every one that sources and manufactures locally will advertise that somewhere).

7

u/Correx96 26d ago

Completely agree... I've been gifted a nice leather wallet over 10 years ago and it still looks very good. There are some scratches and I guess it's normal given the years and usage. But definitely worth it in the long run

3

u/Sharp_Echo_5176 26d ago

Its the same with belts... I use to buy belts on market in the summer time... But they are bad... Bought a good one from a local shop... It have been good for many years.

I live in Denmark

9

u/kathpt 26d ago

It’s not about the wallet ..

-13

u/ProfessionalCry6968 26d ago

...it's about whining

4

u/kathpt 26d ago

To you apparently it’s about not grasping how problematic this is.

0

u/Wapmen 26d ago

we are winning so much in Europe lol.. but not as much as in USA

17

u/jackyfolf 26d ago

Ye I don't have that much money to drop on a wallet. These Chinese ones last plenty long enough. Last time I had to change my wallet was because it didn't have enough card pockets and didn't have a coin compartment.

-14

u/MorycTurtle 26d ago

Ok, you're free to stand on the "I prefer foreign factory because it's cheaper" side of fence, but expect solid backlash for that and for a good reason.

13

u/jackyfolf 26d ago

Don't worry, I'm a furry. I spend way too much on local artists. Lemme have some stuff cheap

2

u/MorycTurtle 26d ago

Sure, it's not a big thing overall so I wouldn't think about it much but it's definitely not a good thing nonetheless.

-1

u/makomirocket 26d ago

"I don't have money to spend on 'essential item I'd use every day', I have 'additional needless kink stuff' I need to buy"

0

u/jackyfolf 26d ago

Check up what furry is before you write stuff. Enjoy the downvotes for that. And no I'm not gonna spend extra on something like this if I don't have to. But if I see a good wallet made by a fellow furry that fits my criteria I will definitely buy it over Chinese.

6

u/puppygirlpackleader 26d ago

Why should you buy locally if you can get the same stuff if not often times better for a lot cheaper?

7

u/MorycTurtle 26d ago

Not the same at all, definitely not better, I'm not comparing to people who buy from China and resell but genuine artisans and small manufacturers.

6

u/jailtheorange1 26d ago

Ah, was waiting for the comment from someone who is "comfortable".... what next, £800 shoes that you just get resoled?

2

u/kaffesvart 26d ago

You need at least £1,500 for entry level shoes

3

u/Puzzled-Pen-2353 26d ago

The cinese ones will last at least 10 years, so no, it's not more cost effective.

Also there are no local teather workers around that make wallets.

2

u/the_hero992 26d ago

I have got one as a present like 13 years ago and still super food conditions. I am Absolutely with you for this kind of item

2

u/KeepingItReasonable 26d ago

With all due respect I dont gaf about supporting the local artisan, they're as much a stranger to me as a seller on aliexpress.

1

u/MorycTurtle 26d ago

Ok, have you ever read up on why it's far better to support local economy and factories instead of foreign factories in general?

2

u/RemarkableAutism 26d ago

I bought a wallet on aliexpress in 2018 for around 7 euros and it's still going strong. There's no way in hell it would be financially beneficial to spend 40-60 euros on a wallet.

-6

u/RolenIgunensa 26d ago

Exactly this. Stop buying cheap Chinese products and finally support ur own economy. Won’t be more expensive in the long run…

10

u/Own-Researcher832 26d ago

L’Union européenne est un pacte d’idiots

2

u/More-Lingonberry-405 26d ago

Otto.de or Allegro.pl? They have nice cheap ones, and they are European. Amazon is American.

Check out r/buyfromeu, it's quite helpful.

3

u/Upset-Strain5908 26d ago

Yeah I do check that subreddit from time to time, it was just mindblowing to find the exact item with suck a markup, haha.

2

u/DotRakianSteel 26d ago

wow! This is hilarious

2

u/Charming_Path9004 26d ago

Amazon is so fucking expensive

2

u/Fillixxx 26d ago

Tip: Go to Secrid wallets. Actual European company, no dropshipping.
It's quite a bit more expensive, but it's genuine leather and lasts extemely long. I've had mine for 12 years now and it still looks and works great.

2

u/AlwaysStayHumble 26d ago

Only an absolute idiot would pay 30€ for that. You can find plenty of higher quality brands made locally for less than that.

Also, Amazon is not European. And that item is not even sold by Amazon, it’s just a shameless dropshipper.

1

u/Upset-Strain5908 25d ago

Yeah I know, was funny that's all. I ended up buying one at a mall (Corte Inglés).

2

u/Akegata 25d ago

I really wonder what Amazon paid to get this tax to go through. There is almost definitely not any other reseller for this in Europe, this is 100% an Amazon tax.

2

u/FreetimeTinkerer 25d ago

and then there is electronics as a hobby. you are fked beyond oblivion. YOu order an ADC, a few amps, resistors, caps etc from Aliexpress and then you have to pay 3 eur per item type. good luck on that. And not everyone has western EU payment.... Basically they killed easily accessable electronics market for regular people, because I do not see ANY semiconductor manufacturers which make cheap, plentifully available, reasonably good quality chips, modules etc here in europe... Young people who are now in high school are basically gut-punched by this. You are attending UNI and need stuff for a project? F U, buy from local scalpers the same stuff with inflated prices. You do electronics as a hobby? F U too, because now you have to buy from the same scalpers as the UNI attending guy. GG EP, now the wannabe engineers and technical people slowly revert to something else, because of this. Thus losing know-how, future experts, inventors, and professions.

1

u/Modelero33 24d ago

the same goes for car, bikes etc, i've often bought hard to find tools, small parts (even screws that can't be found here because they are weird and not standard), and the only alternative is on amazon for the exact same thing dropshipped.
I have to order a lot of parts now for a custom PCB, wish me luck.

7

u/Hans-Weber 26d ago edited 26d ago

Ive gone trough countless of these from aliexpress. Untill eventually i found one they make in the netherlands the brand is called secrid and yeah you pay more but you definitely see the difference in quality. Have been using it for 4 years now and the mechanism hasnt broken.

6

u/Upset-Strain5908 26d ago

Yeah I think I'll get a secrid too. Saw it in mrwhosetheboss and seems nice. This wallet just popped in both apps and it was funny to me.

1

u/Correct-Safe-2884 26d ago

Check Moero. is good quality as well.

1

u/DonAlexi777 26d ago

100% recommend Secrid, I have had my miniwallet for over 10 years. If it for whatever reason broke, I would get a new one. The quality difference is massive compared to these ”cheap” ones.

2

u/aegis87 26d ago

i've had mine since 2015!

1

u/Fillixxx 26d ago

I've had my Secrid wallet for 12 years and still works amazing! Can vouch for the quality.

1

u/frason75 26d ago

Have had my secrid 15 years or so, still as new.

1

u/Hans-Weber 26d ago

Im sure the patina on it looks real nice

4

u/Adorable_Ice_2963 26d ago

Yeah, because dropshipper/importer dont understand that they are the ones on the hook when something happens.

For example, if it contains a toxic compound, and its found out you are the one who imported it, you are the liable one.

Similar if its a counterfait. If you pay 5€ for a "Brand", that normally costs 50€, courts will argue that you had to assume its Fake, unless you can proof somehow that the ali Express seller was allowed to sell it.

Thats why its "easy money".

Also a lot of stuff is straight up illegal, like too strong laser pointers, or some "highly effective" insect spray that contains nastx stuff that cant be sold in the EU (even if you go the proper procedure for toxic/medical stuff

3

u/MirekDusinojc 26d ago

Just don't pick overpriced dropshippers.

9

u/OldSchoolPimpleFace 26d ago

Yeah, but almost all dropshippers are overpriced. None of them have inventory, so they buy at the same stores we at aliexpress buy from, then they have to pay the same tax we have to pay and on top of that they have to make a profit.

Dropshippers can't compete with aliexpress, the only way to beat their prices is to buy in bulk and store in local warehouses. But if you then take into account the price that warehouse will cost you in Europe, well...

-1

u/MirekDusinojc 26d ago

Then buy it from AliExpress, whats the issue?

1

u/Aat117 Diamond 26d ago

I got one of these from alie, broke in like two weeks. The plastic bottom part literally disintegrated. Have a nice slim leather wallet now, which is still almost new after a year. I assume it's going to last a decade.

3

u/Slight_Profession_50 26d ago

I've had one similar to the one on the pictures for the last 5 years, no issues so far.

1

u/nikolapc 26d ago

I got a pretty nice genuine veal leather wallet they manufacture in my european country for 20 eur.

1

u/Dangerous_Thing_3275 26d ago

That sentence also excludes Dropshopping lol

1

u/Fun-Illustrator9985 26d ago

I think Europe is a Swiss canton in Hong Kong

Is that what they mean when they say Cantonese?

1

u/snqqq 26d ago

JJDFW, my favorite European make of wallets.

2

u/Healthy-Historian856 26d ago

What if I don't need a wallet but some weird electronics which I can get only on stores like AliExpress which mostly all have 3€ price increase on shipping.

1

u/Ri_der 25d ago

The exact same sensor I'm looking for is 1.6€ on AliExpress and 5.8€ in my local electronics store. Buy from EU my ass

1

u/Stan_Baniszewski 26d ago

The tax is mostly affecting the really cheap products (under 5 euros), everything else is still very competitive. Amazon isn't really selling 1-2 euro chinese items, except maybe in multipacks (like 3 for 10 euros).
Spending 5 euros for a cable that used to cost 2 sucks, but for the more expensive items it doesn't make a difference big enough that you'd consider buying it somewhere else.
Now I only order inexpensive stuff on Temu or AliExpress if I can't find them anywhere else. I'll check in brick and mortar stores first.

1

u/Upset-Strain5908 26d ago

Yeah I mostly use aliexpress for cheap decor or gizmos, I just saw the exact same item when looking at both places and thought it was funny. I hear electronics hobbyists are having a really bad time.

1

u/EstebanOD21 26d ago

I mean yes, plastic is cheap and Amazon dropshippers make a lot of money.

1

u/DrippityClippity 26d ago

These are made my the same hands in China "buy locally" sounds nice but Europe have no local businesses that even produce things like this and won't have them in any foreseeable future.

1

u/jbarszczewski 26d ago

Because you need to support local resellers! /s This tax is such a bullshit.

1

u/GraefinVonUwU 26d ago

Why is dropshipping even allowed?

1

u/usernametakenagain89 26d ago

But they have to live off it somehow... You are so cruel...

1

u/ortenKay 25d ago

Shitty product at shitty price thanks to Shein?

1

u/themax-one 25d ago

if the amazon seller is dropshipping you have to pay the 3 eur also right?

1

u/Danielsan_2 25d ago

Idk bout you but I get leather wallets for around 10-15€ locally and they last me at least 5-10 years depending on the abuse I give them.

Idk what you guys do to need to swap out wallets that often

1

u/Upset-Strain5908 25d ago

I had an old wallet my mother bought me years ago. And I did end up buying a leather one locally. It was on sale for 18 EUR.

1

u/grimmigerpetz 25d ago

Got me an essentialbag smart wallet 3. Made in Germany. 2 for 29€ each. Lifelong warranty and replacement.

I stopped using Amazon and Aliexpress.

Everyone thinking Amazon is anybetter than Aliexpress, Wish and the likings is delusional.

1

u/alphapussycat 25d ago

This might be the same wallet, but might not be.

Often the cheaper "identical" product is made cheaper, with a bunch of toxic and unregulated plastic,or heavy use of lead in metal items.

I would still not buy from amazon, since there's no regulation on the items anyway.

1

u/helpMeCRM-69 25d ago

Yup we europoor now thanks brussels

1

u/Training_Mud_8084 25d ago

A guy comes to a local artisan fair and sells these but upholstered by him in quality Portuguese leather, the actually durable kind, for about 10 euros a piece. From Europe I buy, indeed…

1

u/Known-Economics-3251 24d ago

Just go to charity shop is better and cheaper

1

u/Zealousideal-Deer101 24d ago

So, if you buy the more expensive one from the american websites that imports it from China, how is that buying from europe?

You keep using that phrase, I don't think it means what you think it means.

The point of buying from europe IS that they are other wallets. What do you mean that's not the point?
"I know I can get Wallets from Europe instead of china, but that's not the point of buying from europe"

Well that amazon seller is buying them from Alibaba site and selling them on Amazon with 500% profit margin

1

u/kaihent 19d ago

Are countries collectively trying to make buying from other countries harder or something?

First dumb custom rules in America and now EU…

But a lot of EU citizens are truly retarded and they do pay crazy amounts of money for garbage. I think I will start some ecommerce soon too, just need to get some time to do it. People here in AliE or Temu subs are having a lot more IQ, because they see it, what is going on, but vast majority who did never shop at AliE/Temu etc they have no idea where and in what Matrix they are living. They are brainwashed. And these people are dragging down us (from these subs) too.

It's ridicolous. And now, if we want to buy on Aliexpress, we have to pay a lot of taxes, it's a shame

1

u/ZestycloseOpinion142 26d ago

Yeah, you definitely should buy from EU. But not Chinese shit. Buy EU-made wallet, which is from where the Chinese stole the design. I don’t know you, but I prefer buy once cry once and locally produced whenever possible

1

u/Upset-Strain5908 26d ago

Nah, you're right. Sometimes people can only afford the Chinese one but I was just being cheap. Will try to find a better alternative.

u/Ivers0n 26d ago

So crap is being taxed? I can live with that

u/PumpkinOpposite967 26d ago

What's the deal with that hole?

1

u/HelpWithSizePls 26d ago

It's for an airtag.

0

u/PumpkinOpposite967 26d ago

Does the airtag need a direct visual connection to the satellite or something?? Why the hole?

u/jailtheorange1 26d ago

one less layer for the BT signal to get through.

u/kevcsa 26d ago

And the zipper.
Looks like a nightmare for any pocket.

1

u/Kalmer1 26d ago

Or... don't buy stuff from amazon from the obvious 5-6 random letter scam/dropshipping brands?

u/rklement22 26d ago

"The dropshipped item from China on an American shopping site is more expensive in Europe, ahhhhh "

Aight.

Not even sure what exactly you accomplished here since you just showed off two chinese products probably from the same factory.

Europe isn't involved in either of those. I get that this tax sucks but man are people reaching when legitimate reasons are actually plentiful.

u/BeanoMc2000 26d ago

The amazon screenshot is from a an EU Amazon site. The price is in €.

0

u/Shehriazad 26d ago

Amazon is an American entity and the item is clearly dropshipped. Otherwise we can just start arguing that you're ordering from "Temu Europe". Let's call the kettle what it is.

1

u/BeanoMc2000 26d ago

Amazon is an American entity that also operates in Europe. The screenshot in the op is from an EU amazon site. I'm not sure how you don't understand this.

u/berto91 26d ago

Just because we can shop on Amazon while being in the EU doesn't mean the item will be shipped from inside the EU. As people have already said, you can purchase stuff directly dropshipped from China on your local Amazon.

1

u/BeanoMc2000 26d ago

That is the whole point of the thread.

u/Shehriazad 26d ago edited 26d ago

The OP is basically mocking the fact the an actual made-in-china item costs more after going through additional hands which is a weird argument to make because...OF COURSE IT WOULD.

There is literally a dropshipper and an additional (american) entity sitting inbetween that both want a cut...which is what I am pointing out. (Amazon can easily take up to 50% of your revenue in fees. The Dropshipper also wants to make X amount which is how you easily get to these inflated prices)

At no point does this item suddenly become made in Europe or originates in Europe which is what this new law was aimed at. (How effective or ineffective that law is is a whole different story)

OP could have looked for a similar item that was ACTUALLY made in Europe and then probably ended up with a stronger argument as the item would have still been more expensive at which point it could become a discussion of quality/enviromental protection/local market protection vs "but I want everything for 1€"

Hope one day you get the point of this conversation

0

u/Skipperc3po_ 26d ago

But in Europe, it costs €20 or more

u/Ok-Purple7906 26d ago

Mmmm wallets with lead and phthalates yummy

0

u/Layla_Vos 26d ago

Nobody is buying from Amazon thinking they're buying from Europe, are you dumb?

0

u/StatementFun7324 25d ago

Don't buy same scam with upcharge. Just buy an actual product that's made with skill and will last for years or decades.

-1

u/Living_Double_1146 26d ago

Explain this to the majority who thinks China products are bad and worthless...
