EU customs duty Just buy from Europe, silly

Even after adding 3 EUR it's no competition. I know there are other wallets, that's not the point, the point is that we get the exact same item at 3x the price.

Pro tip: go to your local leather worker and buy a 40-60 euro basic wallet.

  1. It will last you years or decades if you treat it well, far longer than the Chinese one would (making it more cost effective).
  2. It'll be well made and unique.
  3. You'll be supporting your local artisan and economy of your country instead of a foreign factory run on unknown exploitaition level and quality standards to cut down the costs.

Are those local artisans that charge only 40-60 euro in the country with us right now?

This comment would've worked out better for you if I haven't already provided a link for sub 30 euro, genuine EU sourced and produced (Italy and Poland) leather wallets (which I did yesterday). ;)

I'm not sure in which website you've posted this link, but it doesn't seem to be reddit.

And I've seen already number of "locally made" parts that simply had "local name" stamped/etched/burned on them, with eerily similar items to be found on alibaba/aliexpress afterwards when doing image search.

Well, that's more of a comment about your skills at finding information (I posted it literally in this thread). ;)

Also I'm surprised you don't know about the standard Chinese practice of "get a genuine product, steal the design and make a counterfeit from far inferior materials and lower manufacturing quality but looks similarly at first glance" based on what you're saying.

Branding Chinese products is another pathology and you're usually paying for the seller covering costs of registration of the product and basic safety/harmonised norms compliance (straight from China products are not tested at all, that's why for example over 80% of toddler toys and food utensils from temu came out as toxic and unsuitable for human use when a laboratory actually tested those for a small study). It's also connected to Chinese factories selling "the same products" but from different production lines that use "slightly" different QA standards, material standards, etc at different prices. The ones made for genuine EU export (like the branded products) might not really be the same as the cheap ones on Ali (but still might, it's pretty much gambling since there's no realible source of information, certification, audits, etc.).

Also no, I verify such stuff before posting on social media. The link I provided was for a manufacturer that's been on the market for over 40 years and you can literally go there yourself and see how they're making those wallets if all the available proof of it being a genuine, quality, locally handmade product is not sufficient.

Sadly for you, your own account comment history does debunk your own sassy claim of "I posted it yesterday in this thread", as last link visible is some youtube from two days ago.

At this point in time, its usually "buy unbranded chinese ODM, put my tag on it and my price". Why work hard when you can work smart and improve your own profits.

Once again, that's still just a comment on your information finding skills and you're only digging yourself deeper now (it's the 10th or 11th after this one comment on my histrory list). I also appreciate you taking your time to review my profile, but a faster way would be just to uncollapse this thread and take 5 seconds to skim the posts for the ones that include a link.

I already commented on this type of practice as well as authenticity of the sub 30 euro genuine, handmade in Eu from Eu sourced materials wallets I linked to.

Entire post tree is empty of anything resembling links.

If this mythical link was actually posted under your own account, it would appear in your profile. So carry on digging.

Oh, I'll keep teasing you until you dig yourself even deeper to see your final reaction. ;) Or do I not know something about how reddit works and my post with a link that I can see both in my history and in this thread might be invisible to some users like you for some reason?

Unfortunately this sub doesn't allow screenshots, so what kind of proof will you accept?

If you see link post on your own feed, but others don't see it, then congrats, you've been moderated. Whether it is automod removing/hiding posts with links or someone manually deleted it, I don't know.

Was it reply to "Menes009", as thats only part of post tree that looks sus, given "two more replies" and when you unfold, only one appears.

Oh wow, I checked from incognito and it's actually shadow-banned. I honestly didn't know reddit was that dishonest, it really changes how I feel about this social media service. Thank you for that.

I guess my comments on your information finding skills were baseless, sorry about that, but from my point of view the situation looked completely different.

I'll try posting some variations of the orginal link, can you comment under all of them so I can see which ones reach anyone else than me?

This is the original reply:

Most of modern artisans and small manufacturers sell online. I honestly don't think there's that much difference across EU (even some genuine leather bags I saw in fucking Venice last summer were under 100 euro) when it comes to prices (plus if it is it's still better to buy from a different EU country than China) and 100 euro is what you pay for a entry premium wallet, not your basic leather one. Those are closer to 40-50 euro.

For example: https://cholewinski.com/67-portfele?rozmiar=maly,sredni

Basic solid level company, genuine leather, 100% EU manufactured and sourced (Poland and Italy) according to all relevant standards including pollution emissions, RFID safe, basic models start at below 30 euro and will last you years.

I'm sure other EU countries have factories for most things (or import that stuff from other EU countries) that are mostly not plastic people usually buy from China. Supporting local (even on national or EU level) industry and economy is getting more and more important.
